  1. assuming the lottery starts at #13 - and goes to 1, the team with the most ping pong balls would be most likely to be drawn first in that 13th hole to me. It doesn't. Three balls are selected. Picks 1, 2, and 3. The rest of the lottery is in order of W-L record starting at 4. I don't really believe that it was fixed. It just seems like an awful lot went right for Stern if he wanted to see the tankers punished.
  2. I dunno, it seems to me that most of the time when I am shocked and awed by the lineup, the Brewers do something good, like win. Let's see that tonight.
  3. I don't think the gist of the theory is that he was awarding the NW teams as much as penalizing the worst three teams in the league for their obvious tanking. Under the current lottery process, only three teams could slide down. Three teams did. What happened last night was less likely than you getting heads on 10 straight flips of a coin. Try that out.
  4. I don't think it matters very much who he hit the spring homers off of. He's going to take plenty of major league pitchers deep pretty soon.
  5. http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/4222/brilliantbj3.gif Pretty close. 5 seconds in MSPaint. Where's my millions?
  6. Actually I'll take the magic 8 ball.
  7. I like it too. I'm not saying you can't like it. I'm saying I could draw that. In 10 seconds.
  8. Didn't know where else to post this, it's awesome. http://bourgueilbasket.free.fr/images/bowen.gif
  9. Me. But if not me, whoever wrote WHOA SOLVVD.
  10. Can't make it out. Looks like Scribble-scribble 10. It's bolted to the wall or something, can't get it off the wall.
  11. Heart of Palm Beach, Palm Beach FL
  12. I'm not saying it's terrible, I'm just saying...well...it's terrible.
  13. It looks like a poorly drawn wiener dog. That's exactly right.
  14. This is hanging on the wall in my hotel room. http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/4049/artcx5.jpg I think I'm in the wrong business.
  15. Good stuff, always appreciate first-hand accounts. Thank you.
  16. Dear me, Why are you writing a letter to yourself? Concerned, Me
  17. Certainly not all, but more than a few of Mat's errors can be chalked up to very questionable (i.e. bad) calls. I'd be more apt to agree with your point of view if Gamel's error total wasn't such an outlier not only on his team, but throughout the league as well. If it was a problem with bad calls, wouldn't other players have the same sort of bad luck? This site has had this exact same thread for Rickie Weeks, Prince Fielder, Corey Hart, Kevin Mench. Heck even J.J. Hardy had one. J.J. Hardy has been a slick fielder his entire professional career. Never once was his glove questioned. Kevin Mench never played in the Brewers' minor league system. Corey Hart was moved from 3B, so I don't see how that comparison works here. I'm all for Gamel getting playing time at 3B to help his bat mature due to the glut of OFs in the low ranks of the system. I just hope his struggles in the field don't start to mess with his confidence and throw his whole game off. As far as whether or not I've seen the games: I'm allowed to say that his bat has potential based on game reports, but the minute I question his defensive ability, my credibility is suspect. It's got to be a two-way street.
  18. Didn't he yell, "I get it!!!" at the end of the episode with the flash of the sun? Probably the shrooms.... I thought he yelled "I did it!" As in, he killed Chris and got that monkey off his back.
  19. I don't think Hart was given as long a leash at 3B (performance-wise), but I see what you are saying about Gamel only being in Low A. Hart had his struggles at 3B while playing for Huntsville, IIRC. I guess what I feel is that if this continues, there has to be some point where the powers that be realize that he is just not cut out for the position. His bat has the potential to play elsewhere.
  20. Nothing more to say than he has a whopping 20 E's so far this season, including a recent 4 E game and 2 today.
  21. Pogo, what are "wlaves"? Lava waves, duh. As in "Don't throw him to the lava waves." Sheesh.
  22. if he is awful you haven't lost anything Except a game or two before the mistake is fixed.
  23. Erin Andrews rear for President 2008.
  24. 10th error of the season committed by Gamel today.
