  4. So we couldn't have traded for him prior to yesterday??? Pirates just got Ryan Ludwick for a PTBNL or cash. You're telling me the Brewers couldn't have gotten him for some random AA player or $500k???
  5. My wishlist:Aramis Ramirez Ryan Ludwick (get rid of Kotsay) Michael Bourn Clint Barmes (at least he's a helluva defender) World Series contenders get greedy at the deadline. If you have 3 quality outfielders, you go out and get another.
  6. Good pickup for Pittsburgh. I'm sure they will give up some no-name minor leaguer that will never see the light of day in the big leagues.
  7. My biggest problem is that this is arguably the best Brewers team in 20+ years (not really saying much) and as of right now I'd give them about a 2% chance to get past the first round of the playoffs (if indeed they win the division). Call me greedy, but I'm not satisfied with a playoff appearance and first round exit. (Don't get me wrong, winning the division is by no means a lock.)
  8. Let me preface this by saying that I know the Brewers farm system is pretty bare, so it's not like they have a lot to give up, but seeing as how this has been deemed a "go for it" year I'm disappointed in the lack of moves by DM & Company. I think we have the talent to win the NL Central with our current roster but look at the teams we'll face in the playoffs if we do. Philly? Loaded. Giants? Loaded. Braves? Very good. Texas Rangers (if we were to make it to the WS)? Extremely loaded. Those teams were all very good a couple weeks ago but made big moves to get even better. I understand the idea to stand pat if the goal is to just get to the playoffs but if you want to (at the very least) win a playoff series, the Brewers needed to get greedy and figure out a way to get a Hunter Pence or Jose Reyes type player to bolster the lineup. Ok...there's my rant. Let me get back to enjoying our team! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Over react much? Is he really overreacting? That was a gruesome looking injury. Reminded me of Jason Kendall's injury while with Pittsburgh when he stepped on the side of first base and turned his ankle...only difference is Kendall left the field with his ankle bone poking out the side of his leg. In all seriousness, Weeks is likely out at least a month, possibly longer. And how many times have you seen a Brewers player come back from an injury early or even on time? I'll be very surprised if we see Rickie at second base again this year.
  10. Ok then. Looks like this thread is officially done. Move along folks...nothing to see here.
  11. Given the recent (and not so recent) struggles with the bottom of the lineup and the bullpen, what would you do to realistically improve this team? A few years ago we were able to trade for C.C. in order to stabilize the rotation. This year, it seems the issue is not adding one key piece like a Sabathia but instead there are a myriad of smaller issues. We don't need one big piece of the puzzle, we need 4-5 smaller pieces. One of the biggest problems we face moving towards the trade deadline has nothing to do with the product on the field. The lack of prospects in our system is going to handcuff DM's chances of acquiring anything resembling a third baseman, shortstop or reliever.
  12. I'm gonna take a wild guess, but that has to be a franchise record. Would be mighty sad if this team can't make the postseason with three all-star starters and probably another reserve (Axford).
  13. Over/under on runs for Brewers on Sunday: 2.5
  14. Forget about the ASG...I'm praying he doesn't miss significant time during games that count.
  15. @ MIN: 1-2 AZ: 2-1 CIN: 2-2 @ COL: 2-2 @ AZ: 2-2 @ SF: 1-2 CHC: 2-1 HOU: 3-0 15-12 Am I the only one that HATES four game series?
  16. I hope we get no-hit tonight...this team has been so pathetic so far they need something to wake them up. Can't wait for Monday's game after a 1-9 road trip.
  17. All scored more runs today than the Brewers have in the last 6 games combined. Watching this team is like watching the stock market. It's better to just put 'em aside and check once in awhile instead of living and dying with all the highs and lows. Saves a lot of angst!
  18. Darn it. Crud. Son of a gun. Shoot! Use your imagination for what I'd really like to type.
  19. Does every reliever out of the Phillies pen have a sub-2.00 ERA? Jeez, as if it's not enough that they have three #1 starters.
  20. If it's not one thing, it's another. We've had seasons with bad pitching and good offense, and now we finally get some decent starting pitching and the defense is atrocious. And that's putting it kindly.
  21. Weeks/Hart/Braun/Fielder/McGehee is as good as it gets as far as top 5 in the order in the NL Central so that offsets the bottom of the order (which I would say is slightly below average, not horrible). What if Greinke puts up an ERA of 4+? He'll still be MUCH better than what he is replacing from a year ago.
  22. I hate hearing news like this because for whatever reason it seems like it ALWAYS takes longer to get back than originally expected. Any type of setback and we're looking at May. Not trying to sound overly pessimistic, just disappointed.
