  1. How does he compare to an Irribarren or a Brantley, in terms of their bats? Moreover, is it his bat or his batting eye that makes his offense so appealing? I like the move, though. As for TH, I would rather have Hunter S. Thompson covering the Brewers, alive-good, dead-just as well.
  2. I'm two games back...and in last place. It's time to separate the boys from the Brew Fans.
  3. So Melvin believes Weeks has 395 RBIs? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif He must have started the Kool-Aid party early.
  4. Put me in for the Clu Haywood Bobble.
  5. It was probably a bunch of Bobby Bowden's thugs attempting to recoup a few school wins by sabotaging the older brother of the "Spoon that stirs Bo Ryan's coffee." Now I have to go revise my bracket.
  6. When you get the itch, you have to twitter it.
  7. I commished one last year with a few friends and had some people drop out. If anyone wants to join, it's a yahoo draft with a mix of SABR and counting stats. 8x8. Snake draft. League Name: Field of Fiends Yahoo League ID#: 108254 Password: Prince R-RBI-HR-SB-OBP-SLG-TB-E W-ERA-K/9-K/BB-WHIP-HLD-SV-QS C-C-1B-2B-SS-3B-MI-CI-RF-CF-LF-OF-UTIL-UTIL Definitely open to the novices.
  8. I have an all big east final. There are some very good teams. And that's without Marquette making a sound.
  9. So it's down to the Cubs and the Brewz. Considering the ownership situation of the North-siders, I would imagine we should be the class.
  10. Did anyone see DeMar DeRozen the last few days? The guy drinks his Red Bull. He flies.
  11. I continue to wonder if he'll be given the "Papelbon" treatment if the HoF goes down. He definitely has the arsenal and he could really thrive but much like I feel about Paps, it would be a gross misuse of his potential. He could be Clemens/Pedro-good.
  12. And with our loss last night, it is looking more and more likely that we made an egregious error when we didn't trade Jefferson when we had the chance. Sessions and CV are looking more and more like they should be the foundation (though I still think Bogut is going to live up to his billing as the #1 pick, as well). Instead, we are almost assured of losing both, and wholly assured of losing one (while probably losing our first if we sign one, Phoenix Suns-style). This isn't shaping up to be a generational draft, but I'm sure Skiles/Hammond need that #1 to mold this team into their vision. What is certain is that this team is teeming with potential, but will probably fall short of reaching it. I still hold out hope that DeRozen will don the Deer Insignia next year, but that has more to do with the belief that Redd will almost assuredly be gone after this year and he will need a replacement. Otherwise (and this wholly depends on the Bux's ability to re-sign the Razor)... Josh Howard Erick Dampier Jerry Stackhouse (to balance salaries) for Mikey Redd Danny Gadz Luke Ridnour Stack and Ridnour would come off the books after next year, while J-Ho the Nugget Blazer and his sidekick, E-D, are exchanged for Danny Gadz and the Olympic sharp-shooter. This could be seen as a lateral move, but J-Ho and Redd would both seem to be in need of a change of scenery. E-D and Gadz are considered to be two of the worst contract in the NBA (and the dysfunctional center makes more per year than Danny Gadz). I just think, given the fragile nature of the Aussie, we could use a better back-up and I don't expect Elson back next year.
  13. Dave Roberts has nothing on Brett Lawrie. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Their last postseason victory was supplied by Matt Clement. They have yet to win a postseason game since the Bartman Incident, and they have had a good many chances. Good times in Wrigleyville.
  15. I thought Morlan had a mid-high 90's FB while Dillard works primarily with a low-90's sinker, so wouldn't their "stuff" be comparing apples to oranges? I continue to hope to see Morlan in the bullpen. Arms like his aren't very plentiful in our system. I could see him blossoming into a Carlos Marmol-type. As for Gagne, I always hoped to see him put his ghosts to rest once and for all in Milwaukee. He deserved as much. Instead, I guess I'll simply hope he has success for an AL team....until he blows up in the WS vs. the Brewz.
  16. When I mentioned the economy's effect on Kohl's market, it was meant The Bucks' market (US...) was being hit hard by the economy, even if Kohl isn't directly feeling the effects.
  17. Where's Rickie Weeks?? And Brett Lawrie? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. The Ken Griffey Jr deal had a ton of deferred money as well.
  19. LaBat Blue at the Keystone. And why compare an apple to a rotten fruit? He's obviously Rogers Hornsby in his prime.
  20. I thought the same thing. This is the same guy who used the Green Monster for all it was worth in terms of necessary bodily functions. But also, I could see Manny thinking that there will be many more desperate teams around the deadline, and he could get away with only playing HALF the season at about $15M, and just look at the numbers Manny put up last year in the second half. Well worth $15M. Honestly, I could even see the Yanks then getting into the bidding if they're again lagging behind the Rays and Sawx. The Angels and Arte Moreno could be very amenable to Manny if...well they already have their 2009 AL West rings sized, but I could see Arte getting into the market if he again were worried about the postseason and Rivera is injured and Gary Matthews is himself. They won't have a Garrett Anderson to fall back on. Do I think it's crazy that Manny rejected ANY deal in this economy with no other lucid demand for his supply? A bit, yeah. Do I think Boras and Manny are ultimately going to claim victory? Definitely.
  21. Greg Easterbrook of Tuesday Morning Quarterback fame was right.
  22. I always thought it crazy that when I was a frosh in college and road-tripped to a Long Beach Dub All-Star concert in Milwaukee (a story unto itself) and got to hang out with the band on their bus afterwards, they were all just "doing their thing" and watching "This is Spinal Tap." One of my favorite bands watching THE parody about bands. Hazy memory but VERY GOOD TIMES!
  23. Kid Brewer is going to be The Man this year.
  24. Santana was a Rule V pick who had to stir in the bullpen while eating up service time. Yovani has been a pseudo-ace since the day he came to the majors (and made a fool of the Jints).
  25. Well we DID steal Casey McGehee from them. Which player do you think will get more AB's this year?
