  1. Twitter has a couple of pics of it positioned above the screen. http://ow.ly/i/7wZh http://ow.ly/i/7wUW
  2. His stats scream platoon player. Vs LHP 643 OPS last year(OPS+ of 56) Vs RHP .895 OPS(OPS+ of 111) And like you said, that's bounce back numbers. He was hovering around a 600 OPS vs lefties in 09.
  3. Seems like a desperate move to stay competitive in that division. Still, i like the talent they have, and assuming Manny rebounds he could be a solid signing(or at least decent trade bait come the deadline). Damon, meh, not too keen on. Honestly, my first thought was "how many DHs does that team need?"
  4. I simply cannot fathom how HORRIBLE this trade is. Wells is owed $86 million. Alex Anthopoulos deserves a contract extension just for getting rid of Wells without trading any money. Napoli and Rivera were nice pickups, but nothing beats getting rid of all that cash. Breakdown of Wells remaining contract: 2011: $23 million 2012: $21 million 2013: $21 million 2014: $21 million ..................For a platoon player. Wow.
  5. I don't see him going to the Yankees either, but i refuse to rule out any Steinbrenner team from making a move like this. It just SCREAMS Hal. Cashman: "Boss, we don't really have a spot for him" Hal: "I DON'T CARE! WE NEED MORE HITTERS! PUT HIM IN THE OUTFIELD OR SOMETHING!"
  6. Off the top of my head, that leaves the Cubs, and Rangers as the only real players left, unless the Yankees bomb again this year, and they spend the money to have him play DH.
  7. Which is what worries me about the possibilities of a long term deal.
  8. I can't wait to see it live. Photos never do something this big justice.
  9. Ugh, that's not good. Hopefully they can work something out, because we really don't have much of an option to replace Rickie at this point. I'm fine with losing Prince, but to lose both Prince and Rickie in the same off season would be devastating.
  10. I think my reaction was pretty much the same as everyone else here. http://www.plixer.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/applause.gif
  11. Not too much of a shocker, since the Garza trade, i was wondering who they were going to dump. Seems like a decent haul for them, but i don't know a ton about the nationals prospects.
  12. i voted, and placed it on facebook. I'd recommend anybody with a twitter/facebook account do the same(you can link it on the website after you vote). It's a quick and easy way to get the word out.
  13. Where I come from, Sait-y means +$+$++. I think that's a bad nickname. Yea, i have no clue what that means, but you definitely have piqued my interest . Back on topic, I'm a fan of adding any pitcher with an ERA at 2.82, and a WHIP of 1.07. Being 40 gives me hesitation, but we have other options in the pen, so it's not like the bullpen will succeed or fail based solely off of his year.
  14. Cubs are at best a third place team, but most likely a 4th place, 94 loss team. Agreed. Ricketts is a bad owner. The more i learn about him, the more i realize that he: 1.) Bought the team with no intention of having them compete the way the Trib did 2.) Doesn't have anywhere near the money you would assume from a major market owner. 3.) Wants to keep the "Lovable Losers" mentality alive for the cubs. Mark, on the other hand, is a great businessman, and has shown he will do what it takes to win, within reason. Mark came in and changed the culture of brewers baseball(or at least returned it to a time that my 26 year old eyes had never seen). Ricketts needs to do the same, change the loser cubbie culture, and instill something similar to what the White Sox, or Cardinal fans(and us as well) expect; Nothing other than winning is acceptable.
  15. It's up. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/112513899.html EDIT: It appears they were out of town, that's what took so long.
  16. agreed. My mother in law has been doing that for a christmas present for me for about 4 years now. I love having hard tickets in my hand on christmas.
  17. Outside of Wainwright, Carpenter, Pujols and Holladay, that team is very mediocre. I think Garcia will come back to earth, rest of that rotation is junk. In my book, it's the Brewers and the Reds, with the Cards being the dark horse for the division.
  18. That's a good catch Al. I was wondering why it was 1440.
  19. Can't sleep, so i decided to open up the WOAH SOLVDD section for the first time in years. That added an extra hour and a half to my insomnia.
  20. Great to see Counsell come back. I love seeing him play in Milwaukee(also, this gives him his 6th year in MKE, tied for most in his career with Arizona).
  21. Obviously we lost a lot of talent the past few weeks, I'm not going to argue that. However, everywhere i look people are saying our system is empty, we mortgaged 2013-16 for a shot at the next two years, ect. But, i look at our system, and i still see Rogers, Peralta, Rivas, Heckathorn on the mound, and guys like Davis and Gennett at the plate, and think we could still have some solid players come out of Nashville the next two years to help the big league club. Yes, we currently lack any real top level bats in the system(which is weird to say, given all the Melvin/Jack Z drafts i have gotten used to), but i expect that will be remedied this summer with the draft. Am i being too much of a homer here? Is the cupboard bare outside of 4 or 5 guys?
  22. Buys out one year of free agency, and the last two arby years. Pretty sweet deal for both sides. linkage
  23. It was about this time last night i learned of the possibility of the Grienke trade(randomly checked BF before going to sleep)......I'm too scared to go to sleep, as i might miss out on another awesome move.
  24. Agreed. It's a bit easier to find a first baseman with pop(which is all you can really expect from a replacement for prince), than it is top of the rotation pitchers. Heck, Carlos Pena might be available next offseason. While he isn't the OBP monster Fielder is(by any means), he could be serviceable as a stop gap. I'd revisit the 5 yr/100m to prince, if he doesn't want it, do what you said and see if 50m for 3-4 years would be enough for Greinke/Marcum.
  25. I love prince, but is rather spend the money extending marcum and grienke.
