  1. Bernie's Crew take from a couple weeks ago. I don't know if this was brought up, but this was a take on Greinke's slider post-getting hit in late 2009. Raises as many questions as answers, but seems like a thoughtful take.
  2. Loe in a high leverage situation that isn't the 8th? That and Yuni walking may make my head explode.
  3. Maybe Greinke is just the reincarnation of 3TO (without the walks) as a pitcher...ton of Ks and a ton of HRs. I'm frustrated, but still have faith.
  4. My guess is they have a ton of competing interests that are putting Gamel at third today...wanting to rest Rickie, Braun's injury, wanting to keep Mat's batt in the lineup while he's up, wanting to give McGehee two straight days off to clear his head...I know we're all trying read a ton into it, but I'm going to call it a one shot deal for today. At least that's what I hope...if they really want a solution at third it should probably a platoon with McG/Counsell/Wilson or calling up Green. Gamel could wind up being Braun in '07 bad at third, without the batt to match. The defense is bad enough, although I get wanting more pop in the lineup especially without Braun.
  5. I wouldn't mind seeing Rickie bat 3rd. They could bring up Boggs on Monday. Is like them to keep Gamel up, but my guess is he goes down next week.
  6. Nice call hawing...Matt Capps can indeed suck it. We needed some Pirate curse mojo on Plush's birthday to turn it around. We needed some luck too...how about Yuni's bonehead play and the missed call by the ump turning into a key run. Still one of the dumbest things I've seen this year...and there's been plenty. Then after all the good Twins D, they make some bad plays in the outfield...they must have caught our defensive cooties. Now we just need some more luck on Braunie's calf. That wasn't the news we wanted to hear.
  7. Braun "Definitely" Out Sunday... Call your Pastor, Rabbi or Shaman...this is one dude we can't live without. Let's hope it's just a day to day thing.
  8. When I watch Yuni I just imagine DM in the box telling other GMs...I'll spot you -3 WAR and $50mm in payroll and dare you to beat me! There can be no other rational reason...this guy couldn't play for the 2002 Brewers.
  9. I like 4 game series when we're on a roll and playing a strugglng team...like the series against the Marlins. I hate it when we are struggling and we're playing a hot team...thank goodness it was only 3 games against the Yankees.
  10. First half MVP...I'd put 5 in the mix, all have been mentioned. My rank: Kemp Prince McCann Braun Reyes You could even put Rickie & some of the stud starters in the next tier.
  11. I'll say 14-13...that west coast trip could be a struggle. The last two months should be easier and has plenty of head to head with the Cards. I hope they do better...it would be nice to get some distance between themselves and the Cards before Pujols comes back.
  12. I would pick all Cardinals with the hope it would screw up their swing.
  13. Looks like 14-13 by my count and at worst a tie for first...considering the bludgeoning they took from the AL East that's not too bad. Of course after the 8-3 start maybe we were hoping for a little more. TheCrew, thablingster, sauveb, Roderick, Stalton and Drick23 got it with a few more that said they'd be happy with 14-13. Worse part of the schedule is over...now it's time to take care of business. They rebounded well from the '08 Boston Massacre...hopefully they do the same after the Yankees debacle.
  14. What a disaster if he's hurt. So how do we hang on to Mitre? They're going to need another arm by tomorrow to back up Marcum.
  15. When I first read this I assumed Mitre was getting sent down not DFA'd. I hope we can hang on to him, otherwise it seems a waste to let him go.
  16. Maybe Mitre just needs more work. This is the opposite problem of last year...by now the bullpen was fried, this year a bunch of the guys could use some work. Granted, much of that has been from abusing Loe, but it is what it is. If Marcum has an issue, they could make a move for McClendon by the weekend at the latest...maybe even have him sit at the Nashville Airport just in case.
  17. That's true, the pen will be well rested. They could try and get by without a reliever and then call one up if they have a rough outing with Marcum on Wednesday. I would think they would want that extra lefty against the Yanks though. Wonder if Wilson could be sent down for the 10 days. Does he have options?
  18. Was thinking the same thing, but he is just golden...can you imagine him on Cardinals Live? Now that would be priceless.
  19. U2 concert...they will probably draw more in one weekend than the Fish will draw all year.
