  1. Not to mention Sheets has had one arm related injury that bridged two years. I doubt his delivery had anything to do with his injured finger last year.
  2. He wasn't an innocent bystander. Sure he probably did mean to hurt him, but many people get hurt when someone decides to do something stupid. Reed Johnson had no chance of being safe and made a stupid move. Gallardo had no chance of being relevant in the play so why not blame him if you have to blame someone? I was watching the play and thinking %!# is Gallardo doing more than anything. It was an accident, it was a bunch of baseball players playing good hardnose baseball trying their hardest to make a play in a close game between division rivals. I don't blame anyone I just wish it hadn't happened.
  3. Inman currently is sitting in AA where he has given up 14 runs in 32.1 IP with 3.9 BB/9. He would be behind Bush, Narveson and Weaver on our depth chart most likely and most baseball guys think he is a #4/#5 type pitcher, kinda like Bush/Capuano. Sheehan watched Eveland pitch this last week and thinks he is a backend of the rotation guy who just got off to a hot start. No need to play the what if game with guys we have traded away. It isn't like one of these guys would likely save our season. We just have to hope good Dave Bush shows up.
  4. Johnson didn't do anything wrong, he was had at least a small chance to slide in there safe and avoid a tag. Gallardo needs to either get to 1B faster or realize he won't make it and back off of the play since Fielder had the ball but that is much easier to do when you aren't in the moment. It is just a freak play, Gallardo was playing hard which is what you want and just happened to land wrong after his leap.
  5. Youtube will lead to the downfall of the planet, heh.
  6. I still expect a Turnbow style adjustment with Marmol, he really doesn't throw a lot of strikes he just has so much movement that hitters swing at bad pitches. His BBs spiked big time in the second half last year but his LOB% spiked with it which hid the problem some. Obviously I'm not going to project a complete Turnbow style collapse but I still think you see his ERA creep up around 3.00 at some point in the season.
  7. I think Closers are used poorly in general but the Cubs have the proper setup. Your best RP is used in the 7th/8th inning and a dependable guy who can only go 1 inning goes in the 9th most of the time. There was no real reason to replace Wood yesterday. He hit a guy and then what should have been an out turned into a double because Soriano is playing hurt. A decently hit groundball that found a hole and then a hot hitter smokes a double that is almost caught. I don't see anywhere in the 9th where I would have yanked Wood for someone else yesterday unless you want to yank him after the double.
  8. This is the same on every message board. I visit most teams message boards for fantasy baseball purposes and I've never seen one where they don't complain about the manager at least somewhat and most have a large portion of the fanbase who think the manager is terrible.
  9. They are like 0-9 in 1 run games or they would be right up near 1st place. The Phillies and Mets aren't great teams either so I think it is too early to call them done.
  10. Depends on whether or not he had a .430 BABIP on our team and whether he would be hitting .521 against the CUbs like he is against the Brewers. In all seriousness yeah he would have been a perfect fit in RF for us with Hart moving to CF (Fukudome wanted to stay in RF). You are making a rather large assumption that he would want to play for us instead of a big market style team.
  11. I hope you don't honestly think it would matter? Because that is just weird if you do.
  12. I would expect Hart to have a lower OBP and higher SLG than Weeks so on paper I don't think it makes much sense. That doesn't mean it isn't a good idea though, Hart seemed to be more patient when he was leading off last year.
  13. I don't have a good feeling about it at all, I'll be surprised if he doesn't end up missing at least a start once it swells up.
  14. What did Marmol throw about 5 actual strikes, we either swung at bad pitches or bad pitches were called strikes.
  15. Eventually all these BABIP wonders on the Cubs will stop getting hits every AB, unfortunately it doesn't look like it will be this series.
  16. So annoying seeing both guys swing at ball 4 (cameron on the 3-1 pitch).
  17. Yeah, Gallardo obviously isn't right at the moment, he shouldn't be out there for another inning.
  18. I think of Gallardo as the teams ace, apparently so does the team since they won't score for him http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  19. Zambrano is a strike out pitcher, Hall is a guy who strikes out a ton against righties. I don't see how the bunt increases our odds of scoring. Hall is more likely to strike out than GIDP.
  20. Just wanted to post 2 more for completeness sake, just posting last years stats since that is what we 'lost'. Jenkins - .807 Estrada - .675 There is no reason this team should struggles against righties more than they did last year. We did however struggle against them last year too but not nearly as much as this year so far.
  21. Lilly was also a significant injury risk, he had not been healthy a full season in his entire career. That most certainly lowered his price tag.
  22. I think the bats heat up big and we go 16-13. The Cubs will still be in 1st place and the Cardinals will be 3rd.
  23. We are gonna destroy Zambrano tomorrow, I predict we win 11-3
  24. Turnbow was terrible and hopefully will be released since he has been useless for 2+ years now. McClung is starting to get enough of a sample to think that his improvement is more than just a fluke.
