  1. These were the two most hyped up "sleeper teams" in the pre season, both were said to be teams ready to break out. So far Detroit has backed it up and we haven't.. lets hope for the sweep so we can show them why we had as much hype as they did!
  2. I'm really not a fan of Koskie batting 2nd. Call me old fashion but I prefer someone who can run a bit better in that slot to cut down on the DP's a bit before the heart of the order is up. Whats up with Lee stealing 2nd, I thought he was only allowed to steal 3rd~.
  3. If you don't want to do it that way its fine, I'll play. Just seemed like someone sitting out on a coin flip deserves to be in there and I really am not going to field a competitive team. I'll have to pretty much just use yahoo default draft settings which is going to be a terrible team. I'm leaving in 15 minutes and won't be back until Saturday morning when I have to go to work and then saturday night we have plans and then I work sunday.. the draft really couldn't be at a worse time for me.
  4. I'm pretty busy right now and am not going to be able to make the draft, I dont' really have the time to set up a good auto draft before Sunday either as I'm going to be out of town today and tomorrow and work Saturday and Sunday. Why don't you go ahead and give M Skjellyfetti my spot since he tied for the last spot and technically is deserving. I really don't think I can be competitive with an auto draft.
  5. I'm a huge Jenkins supporter and I'm not really saying this just because he's struggling at the plate right now, but I think it might be time to move Fielder into the 3 hole. He's more of a classic #3 hitter than Jenkins having more HR power and being able to hit lefties as well as righties. I've always considered him the #3 or #4 hitter of the future and he's looking really comfortable at the plate as well as in the field so I think the future should be now.
  6. Now you take him out http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif /
  7. 20-25% of all starts by "normal pitchers" are considered disasters. Out of those games I don't know the number that are bad first innings but from my own anecdotal evidence I'd say its close to half of them. You simply cannot take out an established pitcher in the first inning in that situation. You have to hope he works out of it and goes on to post 3-4 more decent innings before reaching his pitch count.
  8. Yost can't take him out. We can't kill the bullpen like that and that was a mixture of bad defense, bad luck and bad command but he didn't really deserve 5 runs there. Every day I thank the stars that we have Hardy coming back and we don't have to see Hall at SS full time because he just is not a good SS. Like it or not this team will not succeed without Davis figuring out his command issues, I don't care if he's sitting at a 5.50 ERA at the all star break you pitch him every 5 days until he breaks out of it, just like the Twins did with Santana a couple years ago and just like the Astros with Pettitte this year.
  9. He certainly has been terrible in the majors so far, I'll give you that one, heh.
  10. Oh please, 5.12 ERA directly after a bad start and ERA is a crap stat anyway for judging how good a pitcher is. The HR's will come down given some time most likely as well. He's a young pitcher with a good K rate and a great BB rate and you are saying he's terrible and a #5 at best, I'm just not seeing it. Sorry but I get so tired of people getting down on every pitcher after a bad game. An average pitcher has a bad start 20-30% of the time, its not just Brewer pitchers that have them. If you look at patterns you'll also notice that pitchers are incredibly streaky, they'll have 5 or 6 great starts in a row and then get lit up 3 or 4 in a row later in the year when they can't find the strike zone, even the best pitchers sport 5+ ERA for a full month most seasons.
  11. Bush is fine, his K rate and BB rate are both solid, he's given up way too many HR's so far this year but I bet it settles down some, these things tend to regress to the mean. He just had a bad game, every pitcher in baseball has them.
  12. My question would be, is Bill Hall a good SS? I see some people say he's a very good SS but I guess I just don't see it. He has good natural range and a strong arm, both pluses on his side. These lead to some really nice looking plays. However he also has an inaccurate arm, he gets bad reads off of the bat a lot of times and his double play move seems to be off. He makes dubious choices as to what to do with the ball at times as well, like throwing to the wrong bases etc. I'm still much more comfortable with Hall at 2B, 3B or even CF than I am with him at SS. Maybe the negatives would work themselves out with regular play at the position, but I for one look forward to getting Hardy back.
  13. I don't know about that. This team is a poor hitting team and likely will be all season. The bullpen isn't as strong as it has been in past years and other than Santana they have pretty mediocre pitching. I think the Twins have a legit shot at ending the year 10 games under .500 in that division.
  14. Yeah, i can't make that day unfortunately (I work until 8:30 and can't get off), gonna have to auto draft and hope for the best.
  15. I read some of their board. A) I'm glad our forum is moderated better than theirs, that is painful to read with all the insults etc. B) I'm very glad we don't allow all the pictures. C) I'm glad we don't have allow play by play one post at a time, that thread was like 3 times as long as it should have been.. D) Every single forum I read other than the Cardinal's seems to think their manager sucks for some reason.
  16. I'm not comfortable with Turnbow going out there after he pitched so much lately. I hope this one works out for us.
  17. I'd have pulled Turnbow there as well, Howard is a weaker hitter against lefties. He has been in the minors and in the majors so the small sample size this year simply is not enough to offset it. Turnbow has been used 3 of the past 4 days and had already gone relatively deep into his pitch count today. The move makes sense to me, I don't know about leaving the lefty out there after Howard got on though, thats a tougher call.
  18. Do you have any idea when the draft will be? Assuming I stay in the top 4 I was just curious as I work weekends and it can be pretty hard to get off for drafts, so advanced notice would be very helpful.
  19. I don't have a big problem benching Brady because a) he's not a big part of the future of this club, b) he's only a marginal hitter anyway, c) he doesn't really have any upside over last years numbers and I find it unlikely he would repeat them, d) he's not a very good defensive CF either. I have no problem with him becoming a part time player for us. I don't want Hall to start full time at CF though, he's much more valuable moving around. Hardy on the other hand needs every chance he can get at SS because he is thought of as the longterm future of this team at SS.
  20. nah, he came out strong in April and then he struggled. Baseball players struggle, ALL of them do, especially young ones. Ned does a decent job with it I think, let him sit a few days get his head straight and hope he figures out whats wrong with his mental approach at the plate then send them back out there and let them work out whatever physical problems they are having. There is not a single Brewer that wasn't just terrible for at least one full month last year, so until a slump lasts over a month its really not worth making a big deal about.
  21. Cards just lost so if we can pull this one out we gain a game on everyone but the Astros.
  22. really wish we could pinch run for koskie in situations like these.
  23. That play isn't why I don't like seeing Hall play SS, he's just not a natural SS, generally gets poor reads off the bat, makes poor choices with where he throws the ball, isn't good at turning double plays. Like I said, I don't like him at a SS but even I can't blame him for that one.
  24. I really don't like seeing Hall play SS, but can't really blame him for that one, still bleh.
