  1. Going into today the brewers were 9th in the NL in OPS with RISP with a .766, tied for 15th with a .244 BA and 2nd in K's with 1 K every 5.3 PA . Going into today the brewers were 9th in OPS with a .747 and 15th with a .255 BA and 2nd in K's with 1 K every 5.2 PA total. This team is not anti-clutch at all, its just not a very good hitting team. They hit almost exactly the same with RISP as without and K almost exactly the same.
  2. 776 OPS on the year for Jenkins now, its getting there.
  3. Sure is good to see the Muscle healthy again.
  4. 1 would be ok with me, 2 would make me happy, 3+ would be great.
  5. The all star break starts Monday, there was absolutely nothing wrong with playing this game the way he played it, especially considering how badly our bullpen has done lately. Wise can still pitch tomorrow if he's needed for 1 day and have at least 3 days off to follow it.
  6. This 15 game stretch is by far our toughest the rest of the year. The fact we are going to start it 2-2 makes me happy though I wish we had played better the last 2 games.
  7. There is no way you pinch hit for Santos there considering how much work our bullpen has seen lately. Santos is a bad enough hitter that bunting probably isn't any worse than him just hitting there. If you want to point at a reason we are losing, point at the teams defense on the day because when one team gets 4 outs an inning, they are bound to win.
  8. Well Wise is traditionally our setup man and 8th inning guy assuming that is who you were talking about. I have no real problem with saving him for the 8th. Botallico has had one bad game since June 28th and his next truely bad game was on June 11th, so while he hasn't been great this past month or so, he hasn't been terrible either. He allowed a .217 avg against in June with a 3.46 era and 1.23 whip. Santana has been really shaky lately, phelps is the lefty specialist, JDLR has too many control issues, that leaves Wise and Botallico and he was saving Wise for the next inning, I have no real problem with Ned's bullpen use. Every bullpen needs at least 3 reliable guys, the fact that Botallico is proving he's not reliable just gives us a bad bullpen in general.
  9. I think we fall one step away on talent and one step away mentally. Next year with one good FA signing, one good trade of overbay and hopefully one good new rookie of Fielder we will have the talent to be a true playoff team. I don't think we make the playoffs next year but we start to learn how to win and the mental process starts. In 2007 we have a real chance at the playoffs, though its not a given. At least thats how I see it.
  10. So we lose 1 of 3 against a playoff team on the road and we lose it in the 12th inning and suddenly this team looks terrible? I don't get it. We definitely need to polish our game and I agree that this team makes too many mistakes that cost them games, but the reality is they have the talent to play almost every game close, they are one step away from being a legit playoff contending team given how they have played since april.
  11. We hit the ball well off of an injured Beckett last night, can't really read much into that performance.
  12. My #1 goal for this team is to finish .500 My #2 goal is to finish better than the Cubs My #3 goal is to finish 2nd in the division My #4 goal is to reach the wild card. I'm not about to cheer for the cubs since I don't think #4 is very likely, I'll cheer for reaching goal #2 instead.
  13. Haiku this is not Hope cubbies lose every game Braves lose to others
  14. Summer day at park Weeks hits a pair to win game I have a mancrush
  15. I'll be happy with a .500 record, don't think we really need to be worrying about the playoffs just yet.
  16. Somehow every win we have lately is caused by something weeks does. I'm so happy we brought him up.
  17. How exactly is that a single for castillo.
  18. I think I'd wait until the next pinch hit opportunity or when sheets comes out to bring in Overbay for the double switch.
  19. No better time than now for Sheets first hit of the year!
  20. Ouch. Ben needs that curve working, without it good hitters who can just sit on a fastball are going to be hitting them out on him all year.
  21. Most teams sit their catcher in day games after night games and today its Moeller because he usually catches for Ben. Three strikes without swinging the bat, can't let that happen JJ.
  22. Is sheets throwing curves today or is it still mostly fastballs like the last few games.
  23. You simply cannot afford to walk castillo or pierre in this lineup, I'd rather throw it down the middle and take my chances that they hit a rare HR than do that.
  24. The big reason this game hurts is because our next 15 games are against playoff teams and 11 of those are on the road. A big loss like this followed by what I think is going to be a rough 2.5 weeks and the team could really lose its confidence and get that 'here we go again' feeling after last years collapse.
  25. At least we made a game out of it instead of just rolling over at the end, though we should have won this game big.
