  1. Well that was frustrating. Bad way to enter a tough road stretch.
  2. Pettitte has been having arm troubles, in fact he missed his last start because of it. I'm sure they are just taking a very cautious approach with it and that was a decent time to pinch hit for him.
  3. STL blows us away with the little things. Moving runners over, situational hitting, Defense, hitting the cutoff man, good baserunning etc. Its all the little things that make them a true playoff team and the Brewers an outside shot at the wild card team. This team really needs to learn how to not make mistakes in order to take that next step. Of course Pujols and Rolen help too, I think our hitting matches theirs outside those 2.
  4. Man, I can't believe I traded 'high' on Brady Clark in my fantasy league. He is such a stud.
  5. I don't know, it seems like we do ok against good pitchers and when we face mediocre guys like Fogg and Silva we get dominated.
  6. One of his two plays wasn't horrible, its a play that goes over helms or cirillo's head most likely, Hardy had good backup so it doesn't really matter but calling it terrible is stretching it.
  7. They just said thats only the 9th HR by opponents ever to go into the water. THE MUSCLE.
  8. Jenkins 2 walks in one game, I've seen it all.
  9. I think this is one team that the brewers have as good a lineup as. That Houston lineup is just anemic, couple has beens and a bunch of never weres.
  10. Really not a big fan of that play. You have a rookie up who hasn't K'd yet this year. So you ask him to suicide which is a tough assignment when you know he'll likely put the ball in play anyway and have a decent chance of scoring the runner without the bunt.
  11. That was a good time to steal, nothing wrong with it. If Clark gets to 2nd then he's a basehit away from scoring, if he's caught stealing we get spivey up to get on before the heart of the lineup. Its important that Clark steals some bases this year and a 5 run lead with 2 outs is a great time for them to get him some work on it.
  12. Too bad they didn't leave hardy in, Hall is such a hack in the field.
  13. Good first inning but lets hope his strike rate goes up, almost 50% of his pitches were balls that inning.
  14. If you swap edmunds and clark in the field today we win the game. STL won last year with defense as much as hitting and we still aren't a great team in defense. I do agree that the approach at the plate of many of our hitters bothers me. I really don't like pointing fingers but the longer this team's approach is poor at the plate the more I tend to blame the hitting coach. I havent' really seen improvement in the hitting of any of the brewers under Butch. We get new players, they slide the same way as our old players. Maybe its just bad luck so far but if this team does not hit well this year I personally think its time to make a move.
  15. I realize that wasn't an out but that was a very pretty play by Hardy. Hmm, followed by an ugly play by Clark.
  16. I was hoping Lee would rub off on Jenkins, looks like Jenks rubbed off on Lee chasing those pitches~.
  17. Brian Roberts - 435 avg, 527 obp, 1440 OPS, 5 HR, 6 SB. But yeah Clark has been a stud this year, hopefully he can hit close to 300 this year and get that basestealing improved ab it.
  18. Boy I have to disagree with you. Hardy has been great this year, I don't care how mediocre his hitting as been. The one game I've seen Hall start he blew 3 or posibly 4 plays, JJ's defense has been great, his plate discipline has been great and eventually the hitting will come. If Ned started Hall over Hardy on a regular basis I'd finally be certain he's a bad manager.
  19. At least he had a good AB, was expecting an ugly looking K against Gonzalez.
  20. Its hard to blame this on Capuano since with a good SS we'd have 6 outs instead of 2 outs right now.
  21. Russ is looking pretty good on defense this year.
  22. We deserved to lose this one... and we did.
  23. Well I would think its more a case of small sample size coming into play. He's hardly an amazing basestealer and that was a bad spot for him to be going. I just don't think you can call him a bad base stealer given his history, not yet at least. Not very many guys are going to steal on that pitch, the hitter has to protect him there.
  24. Heading into today Clark is 35 SB, 14 CS for his career, thats not really bad at all. That looked really ugly though, I have to agree that it seems like a botched hit and run.
  25. Most managers hold their closer in this situation, when you are visitors you get the lead then put in the closer. When you are home you use them in the top of the 9th in a tied game. At least thats how its worked in 90% of the games I've watched in my lifetime.
