  1. Anyone ever do public transport to Busch? We're staying on the Illinois side of the river, but it looks like the closest stations to I-55 are in East St Louis, which is obviously questionable. Any thoughts?
  2. http://joesportsfan.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/zambrano-mows-my-lawn1.jpg
  3. I laughed after reading this for quite awhile last night. He didn't actually know he was on fire - Suppan smelled it before Sedar felt it. Unreal. Also, McCalvy's observation "Thank goodness Suppan doesn't have a cold!"
  4. The ticket is only good for weekdays and will be given out AFTER the concert, FYI.
  5. I really like that last suggestion. There are plenty of options to meet players and get autographs throughout the season that don't seem to include the mass chaos of Auto Fridays, so if you really, really want something else signed, you have options. Making it charitable and forcing the sigs this way is smart.
  6. Anyone got a link to where it was announced that Macha would be making the calls from the dugout instead of letting Kendall do it? I'm working on an article and I can't find it for the life of me. Thanks!
  7. The BF and I are driving down from Milwaukee and my brother and his GF are driving up from Memphis. We're going to Friday night and Sunday afternoon and staying across the border in Collinsville (SOOOO much cheaper.)
  8. I'm guessing that we'll be tailgating - it's just me and the SO and usually one or two beers - nothing too exciting - but please feel free to stop by for a brat, taco dip and leinie's!
  9. One of the things I do to entertain myself in these times is to imagine what the post-game Yostian presser would be like. Today's game is proving difficult as there are no obvious "he's a former MVP/All-Star" excuses for Julio and Swindle
  10. I'll remind you that Julio had two outs and the pitcher up with a 1-2 count and that was 5 runs ago.
  11. That curveball was gorgeous! Holy crap would I like to see more of that.
  12. I'm mad at Ryan Braun for lulling me into a false sense of hope about this game only to have Julio steal it away.
  13. Also, how could Bill and Brian be SHOCKED that Julio hadn't pitched in 9 days?
  14. Yeah, and it's not like they're 23 years old and have three years of experience either. One is going to be 30 in late December, two others are going to be 27 in August and September respectively and Fielder's going to be 25 in a few weeks. Is he trying to make excuses for them? Because it's not like they really need it. Bill's made some really great stops, Rickie's been less Weeks-like and I think Craig Counsell is leading the infielders in errors, so it's a weird need to justify there.
  15. So Braun showed up for the game. Anyone else going to join him? Also, Prince pulled a Corey and chased an awful first pitch. I'd would be great if everyone could be on the same page, just once.
  16. Ha! Just as Rock talks about Casey McGehee's hit and patience at the plate he has to interrupt himself to say Corey Hart popped it up on and got a first pitch out.
  17. On that infield hit between him & JJ, JJ's shoulder clipped Rickie in the jaw... the same jaw hit while batting last week.Ahh, didn't see that play. Thanks for the update. Did it look serious or just in need of a rest today?BA just said Weeks left with dizziness.
  18. I think it's weird the Rock has claimed more than once this season that we have a young infield. I mean, yeah, we have no 10 year veterans, but each of those infielders has multiple full seasons under their belt. It's not like they're rookies any more. It just sounds odd to my ears.
  19. Seriously, Prince has been hit twice and Manny's control has been non-existent and the fans are booing when Manny puts a pitch inside. Hilarious. We'd be thrilled if he had enough control to purposely buzz the tower.
  20. Havent' heard the trumpet guy yet this year, but he makes me smile every time. He has a good sense of timing and doesn't overdo it, which I appreciate.
  21. Some awesome weird/unusual double plays in this game. It's nice to be able to rely on at least one pitcher whenever he comes in the game.
  22. I was just going to post the same thing. I think he has done it at least once in every game. That ball actually went to the track and BA didnt say a wordNear the end of last season BA was the subject of the in-stadium Gameday mag feature story and it was beyond laughable. In complete seriousness he discussed his theories on announcing and how you have to build and you can't just jump right in and even used a 1-10 scale to describe his calls. It was so corny and just really made me roll my eyes at BA. In addition, for him to talk about keeping it at a 4 when he's constantly acting like any fly ball is going to end up out of the park is just funny. But also tied to that, I've been to MP 3 times so far and it feels like any ball that pops off the bat the whole crowd stands and cheers and the "awwww"s when it's caught in shallow center field. Seriously, why are people so excited about obvious can-o-corn pop-ups as though they think they're going to be out of the park homers.
