  1. I've had Gmail forever and I love it. I was using one of Google's other products, so I was "invited" to try Gmail before they went live with it and I've never, ever had a complaint with it.
  2. I think it's reasonable to hope for a sweep this weekend. The win should give some great momentum. Grotting should be back. M. Tech isn't very good and hopefully last game solved the 3rd period slump they'd been experiencing. Really, over the past 2 seasons, I was always worried about how we'd score goals, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. Hopefully the "skilled on paper" defense can step it up
  3. They did. I just caught the end of it....Don't know if they'll put it back up or not...Ok - maybe I missed it. Thanks
  4. In this day and age, is it too much to ask that Brewers.com stream live video of pressers like this?
  5. Is anyone else concerned with the lack of confidence a 2-year contract shows? It seems to raise a lot more question marks than today's presser answered...
  6. It's on MilwaukeeBrewers.com: http://milwaukee.brewers....mp;fext=.jsp&c_id=mil edit: Wanted to get it up fast .. so here's the relevant part: The Brewers decided on Macha as their choice as early as Sunday and were waiting for the World Series to end to make the formal announcement. The Phillies did the Brewers a favor by winning the championship on Wednesday night; had the Series shifted back to Tampa Bay, the Brewers were considering asking Major League Baseball to waive the moratorium on making news so they could name Macha on Thursday. Melvin leaves town for the Managers Meetings on Saturday and wanted the staff settled before then. The Brewers also were expected to make some announcements Thursday about the coaching staff. Sveum could be back as third-base or bench coach, and Melvin also encouraged Macha to retain pitching coach Mike Maddux, bullpen coach Bill Castro and first-base coach Ed Sedar.
  7. On the 10:00 channel 4 news last night, Lance Whateverhisnameis concluded the section by saying that the World Series is now over, so the Brewers can now announce Ken Macha as their new manager. I was kind of surprised they were so blunt about it.
  8. Hey, I put a roof on a Habitat House when I was in college. Some quick training and you're good to go, so don't think because you're not in construction you can't help...
  9. Are you animal person? There are tons of rescues, shelters, etc... out there that need help. I personally work with a basset hound rescue and have done things from calling people who've applied for a dog to screen them to fostering dogs to writing for the website. A lot of shelters need people to walk dogs and play with them so that they aren't cooped up in cages all the time. Are you involved/attached to a particular part of your ethnicity? I also volunteer with Irish Fest every year. They have opportunities throughout the year and you can contact them through their website and fill out the form to volunteer. The best advice I can give is to make sure it involves something you enjoy. It won't feel like work or like you "have" to go do something.
  10. I was there too, but from what I got - the goal came up, so that's why they reviewed it. But the goal was valid before the goal came loose.
  11. Yeah, I'm not sure I like it, either, but it could just take some getting used to. I thought the old one was easier to navigate, but it could just be a familiarity issue.
  12. They do, but that's going to take awhile - they've played the other way since they were kids, so to suddenly change the rules is a huge adjustment. It's unlikely that you'll see that adjustment even this season - it's just a lot of years of an ingrained way to play the game - even though they know the rules are different now, the whole thing is instinct, so they're going to have to actually "think" about each and every thing they're doing ahead of time to keep themselves from breaking this new set of rules. It's not going to be quick or easy.
  13. Meant to post in here when I got back from lunch and then forgot. Here's the skinny: All Wild Card shirts: $15 They have TONS of every style, from the Grey onfield to the Oktoberfest LS and SS All Wild Card hats: $10 All Spring Training Hats: $5 They had the sweatshirts, but I didn't see what the price was. JJ, Prince and Corey Big Head Bobbles: $10 - they had a lot at lunch today Rickie Weeks Big Head: $5 Racing Sausage Big Head Bobbles: $10 Wild Card Pennants: $1 WC Bumper Stickers: $1 WC Key Chains: $2 WC mini bats and baseballs: $5 Playoff programs: $4 - there were only a few of these on the counter, not sure if they had more and were just replenishing as they went or if that was it. Entire store is 25% off. There are 25% signs on specific racks and I thought only those were on sale, but the manager guy was walking around and he said 25% on the whole store. There are selected shirts - lightweight golf polos, mostly, that are $10.Those were mostly size S & M from what I could see. edit: I asked about the clubhouse sale and the girl said there wasn't a date yet. She said she thought they were going to see how this sale went and decide from there.
  14. I was stuck there for a few hours when my flight got bumped and I just headed down to all the kitshy touristy stuff. I mean, I wouldn't recommend it for days, but I had fun just walking from the public transport through downtown and then wandering all the "independence" stuff for a few hours. There's a couple of museum-y visitor's center places by the Liberty Bell and I basically just wandered in those. Everything has admission, though and apparently the Bell is like the damn White House and if you don't get your ticket in the morning, you're not going to see it.
  15. NOOOOOO was my immediate reaction. Black day for us...
  16. I'd be interested to know what they've got left. The did a fire sale for employees last week-ish and I heard people were walking out with BAGS of stuff.
  17. There's a guy selling the Hardy with the dugout on Ebay buy it now for $9.99 and it says he has 2 available. http://cgi.ebay.com/JJ-HA...98702&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
  18. The part I found strange was Connelly paying for it out of pocket, not that the guy was an outside advisor. Seems like a cost someone who's unlikely to have a career in the sport wouldn't want to incur.
  19. During Friday night's game they said that Connelly was working with a goalie advisor. Yes, not coach, advisor. And they said he was paying for it out of pocket. The whole thing sounded strange. And not to knock Connelly too much, but I certainly don't see him with a future career between the pipes, so I was curious WHY he would spend that kind of money out of pocket at this point. It's highly unlikely to further his chances at a career. Also, this PDF has the whole season schedule and lets you know which games are televised and by whom: http://uwbadgers.com/spor...s/mhky/story_pdf_9164.pdf
  20. first question you have an answer is if you have transportation? and are you looking for somewhere to eat, too, or just drinks?
  21. The rules have changed this season and there's now a second referee on the ice. The claim is that it's made it more like the NHL, but so far, all I've seen is a ridiculous amount of penalties. Basically, they said there's going to be a crackdown and you'll see lots more penalties for things like slashing and holding that would have gotten missed when there was only one ref on the ice. I've also heard claim that this is a good thing because, you know, slashing can lead to broken fingers, so it shouldn't happen. But at least twice last night there were questionable slashing calls where it looked like the stick barely touched a guy. It's clear the players haven't at all adjusted to the changed rules. It's a bit crappy if you ask me, to completely change the way the game is played in the course of one summer. These guys were brought up their entire lives under the other rules and have played as such - now it feel like - in hockey, for pete's sake - that the guys aren't allowed to touch each other! Not only is it very frustrating, but I feel like now, the referees are the one's deciding the game because they're constantly putting a team on power play. There were 55 minutes of penalties and 18 power plays in last nights game! To me, that's unacceptable. You're changing the landscape of the game and it's no longer who has the best team, but who adjusts to a rule change the quickest and who kills penalties the best. It's changing the integrity and it really bugs me.
  22. Very cool! I'm quite jealous. Congratulations. What an awesome thing to have.
  23. I didn't say they were no-names, I said I had no name recognition on them. Cleary - I couldn't even get Aybar's name right.
  24. The best part of watching the Rays has been to see guys I have no name recognition on just lighting up teams like Boston. I'm a pretty hardcore follower, so usually just between highlights and ticker crawls, you become familiar with who's where on teams you don't normally come across, but seriously, who's Luis Aybar? It's great to see teams and guys like that take Boston down a peg or two.
  25. Oh, no, I totally understand how awful we are on power play. A blind guy at his first game would be able to figure that out. I haven't seen a hardcore fan at the Kohl Center not ready to jump out of their seat by the time we're a minute into the power play because everyone's just DYING for the team to take a darn shot, already! Thanks for the defense explanation. I'm still new to hockey fandom and I grew up playing and watching indoor and outdoor soccer, so I have to try very hard to not relate everything back that way. I'm trying to learn about it independently and understand. I had never thought about the tentative power play being something that teams know us for and therefore allows them to push us and leads to the short-handed goals against us. See, Brewerfan, making me a smarter fan in every aspect of sports....
