  1. So, if similar low budget teams were able to swallow $9-10 million recently, with the dumping of Pirates Matt Morris today, and the Blue Jays doing likewise with Frank Thomas a week ago, it shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to do likewise with Turnbow's $3 million, right? As long as Sheets comes out of Tuesday's start healthy, I'd like to see Joe Dillion come back and take Turnbow's spot on the roster (looks like Stetter should be here to stay).
  2. True, but I did like Brian Anderson's comment on that, something like, "Corey, the fielder has been standing in that same spot for 120 years... hit it somewhere else".
  3. Something about Kendall's play this year makes me believe we would keep playing with a broken leg... and still run the bases as well as Estrada.
  4. Pretty sure you mean otherwise Rabelo was dead at the plate. I stand corrected http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Thank goodness that throw was WAY up the line, otherwise Fielder was dead at the plate
  6. Maybe Brewerfan.net should approach George Webb's about a sponsorship. They should have a bunch of unused advertising dollars available with the lack of burger specials handed out recently.
  7. Been wondering the same thing. Something seems 'off' this year. I vaguely remember a story on his recent family additions... several young kids, minivan, etc - maybe playing Mr. Mom during the day has him dragging at his night job?
  8. Thank you - I had given up on 642 and went to dig out the portable radio (forgot how much delay was on satellite until I turned the radio off) So, it's back to working like normal... for this year http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. Missed the intentional typo. Living up here in Wausau, I guess I've become immune to his speaking style with all his Woodchuck appearances. (no buzz to worry about killing with how this game unraveled).
  10. You can get exorbitantly overpriced fuel anywhere, you don't need to limit yourself to Kwik Trip http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Just when you think the Brewers can make for a real depressing afternoon, someone has to remind us about gas prices - that's like kicking a man while he's down http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  11. In addition to the LF being way over in the LC gap (against Rickie, why?), I got the impression that the throw might have been going home, and the 3rd baseman just happened to cut it off. Anything close to the bag and I think Rickie would have been out, too.
  12. I don't know about that man. You should never try to get to third with no one out unless you are absolutely sure you can make it. You are already in scoring position. How many triples to left can you recall seeing? I can't think of many... Rickie's bases clearing triple earlier this week against the Cards was to leftfield... but a good throw would have had Rickie that day. Maybe it is just Pat Burrell that the Brewers shouldn't run on... at least this turned out better than when JJ ran on him a couple years ago.
  13. I was really looking forward to the right-handed heavy lineup dominating another left-handed pitcher, but whudda thunk that the damage would have come from the lone lefty in the lineup? Great in-game and postgame comments from the big guy. It seemed as he was more relaxed last night and not trying to hit every pitch out of the stadium (hopefully he'll share that realization, and maybe a veggie burger, with Braun). Hawing - what defines "eating for the cycle"? And are these general enough to apply to all MLB parks, or does each park have its own standards based upon local entrees? I'm feeling a challenge coming on, and want to make sure the feat is officially recognized.
  14. I think it's the sideburn/chops!
  15. Stetter for the old school 3 inning win/save?
  16. 78 & 76 starting the 6th, add about 10 more already this inning to Bush's count
  17. Bill sounds in mid-season form calling out the very questionable strike zones. Gameday seems to be much more accurate this year, and it had that pitch 4" further outside than the pitch called a ball earlier in the same at bat.
  18. Looks like others already started wondering last month - Cardinals in the early 40's and Reds in the late 30's http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080327&content_id=2461357&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  19. I was just hoping for a sac fly... but got the bonus package!
  20. Gotta make it until next Monday for an off day, and been wearing out the bullpen lately. Combine the shortage with bench players, is it possible to pull Cirillo out of the sideline booth and suit him up for some extra inning pinch hitting & mound action? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. E-4 Should be an E-4, but won't - "because you can't assume a double play". Why not? I can! And this isn't the first time Rickie's spiked one of those DP throws this year, but it won't show up in the stats. Gagne gets a blown save and an earned run, but Rickie gets no mention in the record books. Any chance MLB would entertain a review of that guideline, and let scorers assume a double play... they make a lot of other assumptions on bad hops?
  22. It is a 10-day minimum, but there is a recall exception if someone is put on the DL... which there may be a candidate or two.
  23. Here's hoping that Gross can pull a McClung tonight... meaning, have a bust out game now that a large percentage have him written off as the odd man out when a regular is ready to return to the line-up!
  24. get the stat guys working to see how many times that's happened before. While you guys are digging, let us know if you find one that includes a zero pitch win. I seem to recall someone coming in and picking off the runner to get out of the winning, and then going on to win. Sound familiar to anyone else?
