  1. No need to rush this deal - please make sure whoever comes over from the Giants clubhouse, leaves the flu bug behind before joining the Brew Crew!
  2. Well, one of the Brewer research guys did look it up, and Jim Powell just said it was Wilbur Wood of the White Sox in 1975, also sandwiched around the All-Star Break.
  3. Nope, the big FOX has exclusive broadcasting rights to the Saturday afternoon time slot. More discussion going on in this thread > http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=14255
  4. So, are you saying this is all Ned's fault? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif He should be running McClung out there on days not televised
  5. I'm not proficient with the screenshots, but looks like espn.com proofreaders are in the same boat... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=280718126 "Giants manager Bruce Bochy was ejected for arguing a call during the fifth inning. He came out of the dugout to complain after home plate umpire Jim Wolf ruled Ryan Braun safe at third after a triple to left-center. San Francisco third baseman Jose Castillo took the relay throw from shortstop Omar Vizquel and appeared to tag Braun, but Wolf -- covering third when crew chief Ed Montague ran to the outfield to watch the hit -- called Braun safe. Bochy and Braun engaged in a brief discussion and the Giants' manager turned and began walking back to the dugout when he was tossed. Bochy then came back out to argue further. It marked the fourth time this season and the 37th time in his managerial career that Bochy has been ejected."
  6. I wish I would be able to block out the month old version of Billy Hall like that http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. 5 runs, 16 pitches - Just playing for fun, too (someone that can attend is welcome to take those numbers for real).
  8. My casual brewerfan.net viewership switched to an addiction when the Lyle Overbay trade was going down several years ago. Catching the unofficial reports and speculations before reported by the main stream media was quite fascinating. How did anyone survive before the internet?
  9. Maybe one of our stats gurus can confirm/refute my perception, but I believe the 2008 version of the Brewers aren't bothered by LHP as much as they were in recent years. (This would be a great time for Billy to prove he has found his stroke again.)
  10. Maybe I'm just giddy from all of the excitement, or maybe it's because I'm a balding 40 year old that throws about 65, but that post made me laugh really hard. A39 - If things work out for SoCalBCF and HC, I'd like to think this upper 30's guy with most of his hair and the ability to touch the upper 60's should be worth even more, right? Let me know if you've got any room in your stable. Seriously, thanks for your willingness to interact with the average fans.
  11. Was looking for an answer to the Gallardo question in another thread and came across this other old article that I thought might help ease some of the growing tensions waiting to get the final answers on the other prospects involved. Evidently LaPorta + 2 lower level prospects = what comes out of a kazoo. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080502&content_id=2628825&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil "Brewers general manager Doug Melvin conceded that no team would be willing to trade away a pitcher the caliber of Gallardo, and that he would have to "pay out the kazoo" to get an arm of any value this early in the season."
  12. About a month ago is the last public comment on his return that I can recall (backing off his goal of returning for the playoffs) http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080530&content_id=2800920&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  13. I'm hoping it turns out like Kevin Bass, Frank DiPino and Mike Madden for Don Sutton.
  14. Mcclung? Counsel cutting down runners at third & home was huge, too (and Kendall hanging on to both those balls at the plate took a little extra gritiness).
  15. Hate the travel! For a 90 minute meeting, I went to the airport at 7:00am today and got home at 11:30pm... traffic jams between flights, multi-hour layovers, mechanical delays and an hour on the runway waiting for paperwork to be filed (and have to go back to pick-up missing checked baggage tomorrow). But otherwise...
  16. ESPN First Take just had a story pointing out the Jeter was recently voted the Most Overated player by 500 of his peers. (Barry Zito was #2 and Alex Rodriguez & JD Drew were tied for #3)
  17. I'd suggest whoever is getting sent down/out when Riske gets activivated comes in, no sense extending Bush or burning another BP arm. Tavarez was DFA'd, Riske is in the bullpen and actually warmed up today. That's what I get for trusting the list of available pitchers on the Gameday list. Thanks for the update... and good choice.
  18. I'd suggest whoever is getting sent down/out when Riske gets activivated comes in, no sense extending Bush or burning another BP arm.
  19. Hank Steinbrenner just checked in, and said Bush would still be pitching a no-no if the National League would just join the 21st century and stop making pitchers tire themselves out batting.
  20. About what? You've already gotten the 3TO and the inside-the-parker... what else is there? Oh wait, I'll bet you want to see the unassisted triple play, right?
  21. Uecker said inside-the-park. Is that a correct call for those watching?
  22. Forget yesterday's TV comments about the sun causing that hazy appearance... that's just how things look in those dream sequences. Welcome to the 3TO dream world... enjoy the show!
  23. Didn't find any in here specific to the ballpark request, but thought most were worth sharing anyhow http://www.quotegarden.com/baseball.html
  24. Pick up another RBI - he's having a career year............. at the plate.
  25. Branyan... seriously?!?! Get him in the HR derby.
