  1. Well, I submitted my picks today. We'll see how it goes...
  2. Yeah, I'm a little 'faced right now. I've got MLB '08 to comfort me through this time, though.
  3. Haha, I liked it. As a matter of fact, I liked a lot of the links on that page. Good find. = )
  4. I'd have to agree with the above posters, especially if you're looking for home runs and RBI's -- both of which should be more abundant for Burrell (a true power hitter) in a good Phillies line-up, as opposed to Abreu, who is playing in a phenomenal line-up, but relies on his power to the gaps to produce runs (he'll probably have 85-90 RBI's this year).
  5. Did anyone else read this as someone stating in a normal tone of voice "I" and then absolutely screaming "LOVE BOLD!!!"? It sounds even funnier in my head than it probably is.
  6. I'd be lying if I said that Rickie's slow start wasn't making me a little concerned, but as TLB has pointed out a few times in this thread, it is just spring training. I have confidence in Rickie after last year's August/September -- he's got the talent and the drive to turn it around and the ambition to never go back to AAA going for him.
  7. Wow, that's very generous Pedro -- count me in. = )
  8. Although last night's episode didn't reveal much, I was pretty emotionally-affected by the ending (given that JJ Abrams isn't trying to pull a fast one on us and Jin will, in fact, suffer the fate that was shown at the end of the episode).
  9. Going in Gobias' direction, everything about John C. Reilly's character in Boogie Nights is just hysterical.
  10. I watched the Ace Ventura movies for the first time in almost a decade about a week ago, and I loved them, as I did when I was younger.
  11. Last night's was definitely a letdown compared to Desmond's episode ("The Constant"). As for the Oceanic 6, the producers have stated that within two weeks, we will have a concrete knowledge of who they all are (if Aaron counts as one, etc.).
  12. That is why games should not be rushed out simply to meet deadlines. I'd much rather wait a few days (or a week or two) for an issue to be resolved and to play the game it was intended to be presented than play a stilted version of that game. Maybe it's just me. = S
  13. I'm very skittish about buying 2K8, but that's my only option, as I only have a 360. I looked at the ratings of players and they were HORRENDOUS (I know that's not a huge deal, but it clearly shows a lack of true passion about the game when your rating system is that lazy), and the gameplay videos don't blow me away either. I'm sure I'll buckle and buy it, but hopefully I can hold out for it to drop in price a bit before I take the plunge.
  14. I just voted. Always happy to help out a fellow Wisconsin native. = )
  15. This is like a priceless comedy gem. Yost has done it again, folks! In all seriousness, though, should we start slipping a little alcohol into that coffee so that it begins to reverse his bonehead decision-making process? (Sorry, that was just me wishful-thinking. He probably would make even weirder decisions if intoxicated.)
  16. That looks absolutely fantastic... makes me wish I had a Windows emulator on my Macbook so that I could run the software. Oh well. = (
  17. Hey! I live a block away from BBC! I'll have to check it out for wings.
  18. 1) Detergent in first, usually, but I don't think I've made a habit of doing it. 2) I let it ring for as many rings as it takes me to get to the phone, usually. 3) I usually check to make sure IF someone is in the house, but if I'm home alone, I'll pick up and dial. 4) Just put it in my pocket and get going -- I always feel rude if I'm at the counter for too long after my transaction has been completed. 5) I don't use it in my subdivision because it's out in the boonies and no one is ever around, but otherwise I'll always use it. 6) If my purpose for calling was pretty important, I'll leave a message, but I usually just leave the missed-call on their phone. Most people tend to call back. 7) I'll wait for a break in the action to get up, but I rarely get up during a sporting event anyways -- I hate missing anything. 8) I always pray for magical things to happen as far as food goes, so yes. 9) I usually can keep track of my daily agenda in my head, but my job is pretty simple, so that's no huge feat. 10) As I said in my answer to question #8, I always hope and pray for magical things when it comes to money, with the magic being money in my account.
  19. Watching the trailers and gameplay videos for this game really make me wish I had a PS3. Maybe I'll just rent The Show and play it on my roommate's PS3. = )
  20. Phew. I honestly thought I was the only man who didn't think she was the most attractive woman on earth
  21. Did anyone else find it refreshing to see a coach really show his emotions in a press conference? He may not have gone about it the perfect way, but good for Borseth - sometimes it takes calling out your team to show them that change is needed.
  22. Hmmm, good catch. I didn't notice that at first, but it brings up an interesting point.
  23. William Shakespeare's "Sonnet 18", dedicated to baseball in the summer. "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimm'd; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd; But thy eternal summer shall not fade Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest; Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou growest: So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this and this gives life to thee."
  24. The Cubs? = )
  25. 1.) Bright Eyes - "Four Winds" 2.) The Beatles - "In My Life" 3.) A.C. Newman - "Drink To Me, Babe, Then" 4.) Further Seems Forever - "Snowbirds & Townies" 5.) Death Cab For Cutie - "Title Track" 6.) Ryan Adams - "The Shadowlands" (How my favorite Adams track came up randomly on shuffle in a library of more than 7,000 songs must be divine intervention). 7.) Beck - "The New Pollution" 8.) Maritime - "Tearing Up The Oxygen" 9.) Elliott Smith - "Everything Reminds Me Of Her" 10.) Elliott Smith - " Waltz #2 (Xo)" 11.) Radiohead - "Pyramid Song" 12.) Belle & Sebastian - "Another Sunny Day" 13.) The Flaming Lips - "Slow Motion" 14.) Red House Painters - "Have You Forgotten" 15.) U2 - "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" 16.) Smashing Pumpkins - "Tonight, Tonight" 17.) Ben Harper - "Woman In You" 18.) Band Of Horses - "The Funeral" 19.) Wilco - "Muzzle of Bees" 20.) Billy Bragg & Wilco - "One By One" 21.) Ryan Adams - "When The Stars Go Blue" 22.) Elliott Smith - "Pretty (Ugly Before)" 23.) Jimmy Eat World - "The Authority Song" 24.) Coldplay - "Don't Panic" 25.) The Shins - "Kissing The Lipless"
