  1. No, I get the point. I would rather have Green or Gamel pinch hit late in games than Matt Stairs, Counsell or Wilson. I think the veteran factor is sometimes overrated. However I also would like Giambi, Thome or Matsui, and I've posted that in their topics.
  2. I'd much rather see Green or Gamel. I think Stairs is done.
  3. He's 32 years old, and has been very good the last 4 seasons, while staying healthy. It seems like his value would be extremely high, but I've heard quotes saying there is no way anybody would take on the remaining 3 years and 36 million of his contract. I don't get it, that doesn't seem like to high of a contract for a guy that is going to give you a 200 innings w/ a3.50 era, and a good k/bb ratio. What am I missing about him?
  4. I think Giambi would be a great replacement for Wilson or Counsell. He has hit very well this season, it would be great to have a bat like that to DH and come off the bench in the playoffs.
  5. Aren't him, Rickie, Grienke and Prince all from the same area? What did you hear about his entourage?
  6. I loved Jurgen as a player, not sure about him as a coach. He does have a lot of credibility in the soccer world, it's a big day in US Soccer history.
  7. Exactly, people are going to keep asking until we finally hear a decent reason. You'd think if a beat writer was getting a ton of questions about one subject he might think about doing a story on it?
  8. Do you have a link? I'm not sure how I'd feel about Klinsmann, although I definitely like him better than Arena, Bradley and Sampson. Maybe someone should change the title of this thread?
  9. Fun Fact: Taylor Green only has one error in the 26 games he has played this season at 2B leading to a .990 fielding percentage. He also has a .974 career fielding percentage in his 90 games at 2B. I know fielding percentage doesn't mean everything, but that is still pretty impressive.
  10. Mr. Melvin, please bring Taylor Green up. He is good.
  11. What about Aaron Hill or Chone Figgins? I'm not sure if Hill is available, but I'm sure Seattle is dying to get rid of Figgins after his atrocious 2 seasons there. I'm sure Roenicke is very familiar w/ him.
  12. I just saw that the Astros are dropping their price big time on Wandy Rodgriguez, and just want to get rid of his contract. I think I'd rather see the Brewers get Wandy/Barmes than Carroll/Kuroda.
  13. I think he was talking about older guys like Dunn, Konerko, Rios, Buehrle, Jackson, Peavy, Pierzynski and Vizquel. I don't think he means the young, cheaper guys like Ramirez and Beckham, but I could be wrong.
  14. If something doesn't happen today, I'll be extremely dissapointed. It's been so frustrating to see McGehee being given this long of a leash. Tbadder, Green's progress through the minors was going extremely smooth until he suffered a bunch of injuries. How are you so sure that he wouldn't be an upgrade over McGehee at the plate? If you look at their career minor league numbers, Green makes Mcgehee's look silly.
  15. It's funny to me that people don't consider Green a prospect. At the end of the 08' season he was a top 5 Brewers prospect, ahead of Lorenzo Cain, Jonathon Lucroy, Lawrie and others. He then went on to have a few freak injuries, and is now tearing up his first AAA season as a 24 year old. It's not like he came out of nowhere. To add to that, it sounds like he can play a decent 2b along w/ 3b. I think he is being undervalued by a lot of people, including Doug Melvin.
  16. 1. Wily Peralta - He is having a great AA season at age 22, and his strikeout and walk rates have improved since last season. He also has been clocked as high as 98 mph recently, very exciting arm. I think he could be a possible #2 starter. 2. Tyler Thornburg - He is only a little bit older than Peralta, and has dominated at every level so far, can't wait to see what he does in Huntsville. He seems to have a great attitude w/ a lot of confidence, I could see him being a very good starter as soon as 2013. 3. Taylor Green - I think OPS'ing over .950 as a 24 year old in his first taste of AAA, while splitting time between 2B and 3B, makes him quite the prospect. I'm glad he seems to finally be healthy and becoming the player we hoped he would become a couple seasons ago. Hopefully we have our 3b of the future in Green. 4. Caleb Gindl - He has moved up the ladder every season, and has had an OPS over .800 at every level except Hunstville (.758 OPS). Seems like he will at least become a very good 4th outfielder, I hope even more. He is having a very good season as a 22 year old in AAA. 5. Kyle Heckathorn - Hasn't dominated at all, but has been consistently pretty good since being drafted. I hope he continues to do well in Huntsville. 6. Yadiel Rivera - This may be high on him, but I've heard he has the tools to be a great defensive SS, and the way he's been hitting in Helena has been awesome to follow. 7. Cody Scarpetta - I hoped this might be his break out season, but he has been very inconsistent in AA. Hopefully he finishes the season strong in Huntsville, I still think he has a good chance to become a good MLB pitcher. 8. Nic Bucci - I've always liked what I've heard about his attitude, and it's awesome to hear his velocity is up this season. He's been good since being drafted, hopefully he continues to be a good in AA next season, or at the end of this season. 9. Khris Davis - Has been outstanding in Brevard County this season, and has shown a lot of power. Congrats on finally getting called up to AA, hopefully he keeps raking in Huntsville. 10. Nick Ramirez - He has crushed the ball so far in Helena, after being the Brewers 4th round pick this season. I'm not big on Hawn or Morris, and like what I've seen and heard about Ramirez. It's probably way too early to make him top 10, but I like the fact that he was a good college pitcher and now has the chance to only focus on the hitting and fielding part.
  17. He's splitting his time between 2nd and 3rd, he played 3rd base the night before, and plays 3rd much more often than 2nd. He may not be a great defender, but from everything I've ever heard he wouldn't be nearly as bad as Braun or Gamel at 3rd. Has anyone seen him play or have an detailed reports on his defense?
  18. Taylor Green was 2-3 w/ his 14 th HR and 2 bb's tonight, he is now batting .320, I hope to see him in Milwaukee soon.
  19. He's having a pretty terrible season this year, and he was in AAA for a lot of it, he also hasn't played a lot of SS over the last few seasons. I'd much rather have a guy like Jamey Carroll, Rafeal Furcal or Clint Barmes.
  20. Hey, aren't these McGehee's splits for 2011?Actually McGehee would probably love to have those numbers, he has a .355 OPS vs. LH, and a .667 vs. RHP's this season.
  21. I questioned the decision before things went wrong, and I'm guessing you didn't watch the 7th inning and see him make Upton and Young look silly. He was getting better and better as the game went on, so in my opinion there was no reason to even think about bringing in KRod.
  22. The way Narveson was pitching, especially in the 7th, I think most managers wouldn't have even though about pulling him. I thought it was a huge case of overmanaging.
  23. I guess the Brewers asked Houston about Clint Barmes according to Jerry Crasnick. He would be a huge upgrade defensively and would bring around a .700 OPS.
  24. Why did RR pull Narveson tonight? He was lights out in the 7th and was only at 87 pitches.
