  1. In looking at the FA market, there isn't a whole lot of big impact players besides Pujols, Fielder, Reyes, and possibly Ramirez. I think the Brewers might have to get creative to find an impact bat to replace Prince. I'd like to see them go after a player that has been great in the past, who has had a down year or two and might be available. What guys would you like to see the Brewers take a risk on that fit this profile? Some of the guys I might want off the top of my head are Jason Bay, David Wright and maybe Nick Markakis.
  2. I think Hart is undervalued by a lot of Brewers fan's. He is coming off consecutive .866 and .865 OPS seasons, and I believe is getting more consistent at the plate the older he gets. Besides a few memorable bad plays, I think his defense was a lot better this season. A player like him is a lot harder to replace than people are giving him credit for. I hope the Brewers focus more on SS/3B/1b/bullpen, and leave the outfield alone. I thought Braun, Morgan/Gomez, Hart was one of the better outfields in baseball.
  3. I don't think his trade value is worth what he brings to the team. I say keep him, I love what he brings to the table most of the time.
  4. Lance Allen(I think) was on a Madison morning radio show, and he said he specifically asked Corey Hart about moving to first recently, and he said he would be ok with it. Apparantly Hart said he was also asked after last season, in case Fielder was traded, so the Brewers have definitely thought about it.
  5. SP- I expect Gallardo, Greinke, Narveson, one of Marcum/Wolf back w/ the other one being traded. For the 5th starter, I believe Peralta, Fiers, Estrada and possible FA veteran will compete for it. Bullpen - I expect Axford, Loe, and 3 or 4 of McClendon/Estrada/Fiers/Kintzler/Dillard/Stetter/Parra/Braddock, and a couple of good FA relievers acquired. Lineup - I expect Weeks, Braun, Morgan/Gomez, Lucroy, Hart to all be back in the same role. If they don't re-sign Prince, I hope they go w/ Gamel at 1B instead of acquiring an Adam Laroche type player. I'd also strongly consider trying to acquire Daric Barton from Oakland, who I believe can still be a very good player, and might be available for cheap. At SS, I love watching Jose Reyes play, if they Brewers did their research and decided he was worth the gamble, I'd be happy to see the Brewers go after him. Other than that, I wouldn't hate seeing Clint Barmes or Marco Scutaro brought in. At 3b, I'm hoping they give Green a shot, while bringing back Hairston to get a few starts a week. The only FA 3b that excites me is Aramis Ramirez, and I'm nervous about his age, and defensive issues. I'd also like to see them try to acquire Chase Headley if San Diego made him available. Bench - I expect the bench to be Kottaras, Gomez/Morgan, FA veteran OF, Hairston, FA veteran INF. Hopefully they bring in somebody w/ power.
  6. I'd love to have Prince back, hopefully he considers staying in Milwaukee. If not, he'll still always be one of my favorite players.
  7. If the Brewers did their research and decided that Jose Reyes was worth the risk medically and personality wise, I'd be thrilled to see the Brewers sign him. I would probably bat him 3rd next season w/ a line up of Hart, Morgan, Reyes, Braun, Weeks, Gamel, Green, Lucroy, I think we would be could be close to the same offensively while being a lot better defensively.
  8. Unless we can get a huge haul for Marcum, I'd rather keep him for next season. He was a huge part of this season, and has proven to me that he is a legit #2 pitcher on most staffs. I'd much rather see them trade Wolf, and let Fiers, Peralta and Estrada battle it out for the #5 starter role.
  9. Barton did put up a .273 .393 .405 line as a 24 year old hitting in Oakland, so I wouldn't put him in the Tony Muser category quite yet. I'm just saying that it's possible that he could be a good buy low candidate that at 26 still has a chance to be a good player. He brings two pretty important things to the table, plus defense and ability to get on base.
  10. A guy that I would target is Daric Barton from Oakland, he is supposedly an elite defensive 1st baseman, and he had almost a .400 OBP in 2010. He was once a top prospect, but the A's now have Brandon Allen, Chris Carter and Kila Ka'aihue that can all play 1B. He had a torn labrun last season, and doesn't hit for much power, but he is supposed to be ready for spring training. Carlos Lee and Kyle Blanks could also be interesting possibilities. Although none of this will matter once we re-sign Prince.
  11. I could care less if Greinke's not there, and I'm sure the majority of his teammates don't care much if at all either, and fully understand why. Just because he's can do something like play baseball in front of people, doesn't mean he's not terrified about being in situations like the rally. It's sad that you would just disregard someones mental illness as if its nothing more than a ploy to get out of things. I wouldn't call that being "old school".
  12. I am looking for two tickets to game 2. Please PM me if you have tickets available.
  13. I love sports, and the Brewers, but I can't ever imagine having hatred for someone who did what Bartman did. Like others mentioned, if he didn't catch it, 3 or 4 others would've. In the end its just a game.
  14. I'd pick Gamel over pretty much every free agent option out there, of course besides Pujols and Fielder. I hope he gets a chance if we don't resign Fielder. Another possibility would be Josh Willingham. He played a lot of 1B in the minor leagues, and is a pretty good hitter. I'm not sure if he'd be willing, or would be able to play 1st well on an everyday basis.
  15. I agree, I'd like to see the Brewers pursue Omar Infante or Clint Barmes. I also wouldn't mind Jamey Carroll, as long as we brought back Jerry Hairston as insurance.
  16. I don't get RR's reasoning either, I've been frustrated w/ his use of McGehee and Betancourt all season. It's made an amazing season less fun for me to watch. However, I've decided to pretend to not care about it for the rest of the season and playoffs, and hope for the best.
  17. Here is from the Polish Falcoln post above. Matt Kemp .326/.403/.582/.985, 109 runs, 36 HR, 118 RBI, 40 SB Ryan Braun .330/.393/.594/.977, 104 runs, 31 HR, 104 RBI, 31 SB Kemp is actually beating Braun in both OPS and runs, however Braun is still winning in slugging % and avg.
  18. If I were a Dodger fan, I'd be pretty upset if Matt Kemp wasn't at least in the top 2. I know his team isn't winning, but he is having a spectacular season. I don't see why Prince would finish ahead of him, but I could see Braun winning it over him.
  19. In todays jsonline poll it asks who should be the brewers everyday 3b, and Taylor Green is ahead 81% to Mcgehee's 19% after 1700 votes. I like Casey, but I think having him play less would be better for the Brewers.
  20. I don't understand why he feels the need to talk trash about these young players to the media, and why the Brewers allow him to do so. I feel like confidence plays such a huge role in becoming good at anything, and I'm guessing this won't help Gindl, Gamel or McClendon's confidence at all. If it were up to me, I wouldn't want Don Money anywhere near the minor league system.
  21. Based on what? I'm pretty sure he has more value than that.
  22. I expect the Brewers to win 3 out of 4, or at least split. I will be disappointed w/ anything else.
  23. The only other option is if there is an injury, then you can replace that injured person with someone else (I believe that someone else has to have been on the 40 man roster as of Aug 31, but I'm not sure of that). This is what me and Rawbecht were both trying to say, because NDOG stated that he was only brought in as injury insurance, and that doesn't make any sense.
  24. I don't think thats true. If someone on the 25 man roster gets hurt in September, they can be replaced by someone else on the 40 man. So he didn't have to be called up when he did, they could've just waited until Sept. 1st.
  25. Thats extremely underwhelming for K-Rod, congrats DM on a heck of a trade.
