  1. Roc Riggio is the highest rank draft pick this round by a good margin. Good reminder to not get too worked up about rounds 5-10 when they are obviously saving money for rounds 11-20.
  2. Wes Clarke MASHES. Love the pick.
  3. I don't know anything about the last two guys the Brewers have taken. Callis and Mayo didn't really know much either lol
  4. I think the easiest conclusion is that the Brewers highly value analytical data.
  5. Kavadas is a player profile I like a lot, but hasn't he basically said he's headed back to ND unless something unexpected happened? I'd think you'd have to go well over slot at this point to have a chance at him. I wasn't aware about him saying he was headed back to ND.
  6. Christian McLeod with his curveball would be nice as well.
  7. Let's just go crazy and take Niko Kavadas with our next pick.
  8. Russell Smith is an interesting pick. I didn't really notice him before the draft but that 60 control is eye popping. The control and changeup gives him a higher floor than most pitchers. Got to figure he makes it to the majors in a reliever capacity at the worst. Maybe a LH Jon Rauch who could start?
  9. Spencer Schwellenbach, Adrian Castillo or Joshua Baez here for me.
  10. What do you guys think of Spencer Schwellenbach? He's on my small wish list.
  11. Who is left with that 60 hit tool? Would be neat to see as we get closer to our pick. Stovall and Zavala? They both seem to be the same players we just drafted. Connor Norby as well.
  12. I've seen the Brewers chase after high upside talent early in the draft and fail miserably. I prefer they go the high floor route and then take some chances on risky talent later. I counted 9 prospects in the draft that had a 60 grade hit tool according to MLB Pipeline and we drafted 2 of them so far. We could possibly grab a 3rd when we're up again in 15 picks! I couldn't be more happy with how this has played out. There wasn't a single mock draft that had Frelick making it to us and people are acting like we took a giant reach.
  13. We're in position to get a great player at 15. I couldn't be happier with how this has panned out so far.
  14. If you go by MLB.com there's a solid group of players ranked through 15 but I'm not a big fan of Harry Ford. I just see too much risk with a HS kid who doesn't have an elite bat. I'd be happy with any of the others if they made their way to 15. If they were all gone and Ford was the only one ranked in the top 15, I would probably lean towards a safer pick and try to save a few dollars with someone like Michael McGreevy. Our system is devoid of any RH starting pitchers and I think he has the highest floor of anyone. He reminds me a lot of Joe Musgrove.
  15. The bullpen looks like our #1 need.
  16. He signed a two time all-star with 4000 MLB PA's to a minor league deal. And your problem with this is....? Ricky Bones, Jose Hernandez and Derrick Turnbow are former all stars too. Every team is required to have one; big deal. As for Gordon-Strange, he hasn’t been decent in 5 years, which is exactly why they signs him to a minor guy deal. I won't tolerate this Ricky Bones slander.
  17. I just love the balance that Stearns has brought to this team. Do you remember when Prince was literally the only LH bat in our lineup? Tough RHP used to carve us up. Stearns has put together a roster that could play 6 LH bats against a RHP with Narvaez, Vogelbach, Wong, Shaw, Yelich and Bradley. Now, pitchers are going to have to work a lot harder when people aren't chasing sliders 2 feet off the plate. That's another thing. Stearns has really put an emphasis on walking. The guys he's acquired really have a knack for taking pitches.
  18. This signing is a bigger indictment of how the team feels about Garcia playing against RHP.
  19. This signing is a bigger indictment of how the team feels about Garcia playing against RHP.
  20. This is a weird thing to say after he posted a 118 OPS+ a year ago. Granted that it was a condensed season but he produced...
  21. This could mean that Lorenzo Cain is thinking about opting out again. Ian Desmond just opted out yesterday.
  22. I'm excited to see who wins our 4th OF competition this spring. I think whoever wins between Fisher and McKinney can be a younger / better version of Josh Reddick.
  23. It's easy to see why Shaw and Lamb are still jobless. Those numbers vs RHP are BAD. I don't think either of them is much of an upgrade over someone like Gyorko against RHP.
  24. I don't see Healy making the major league roster barring an injury. He's too redundant with Gyorko on the roster.
