  1. Beautiful curve to K Lee, 5 straight Ks.
  2. Ben looks good, nice 1st inning pitched.
  3. Sing the national anthem now, the game should start very soon.
  4. Sounds from Uke and Powell that the game is starting in about 30 minutes, I really hope so.
  5. Very nicely done Woogie, like that Zambrano pic. Can't wait for the game to start, Go Brewers!
  6. In the offseason, Boras talked Kyle Lohse out of accepting a 3 year $21M offer by the Phillies, and now Lohse ends up signing a one year $4.25M deal with the Cards. I think Prince should be a little careful with his agent Boras, he might not be acting in his client's best interest. If the Brewers can only afford either one of them, I would certainly pick Braun over Fielder. To me Braun is the more valuable player, a potential NL MVP and HOF player. I really hope Braun stays with the Brewers as long as Molitor did.
  7. I've lived in Singapore for a long time and I've never ever seen the US Dollar sink this low against the Singapore Dollar, what's worse the sinking has not stop yet.
  8. I still have faith in DM, but his seemingly huge confidence in Yost is rather unsettling. Failure to make postseason this year would be disastrous and in turn keeping Yost might be a mistake. To me the best trade by DM is the CV trade, a stroke of genius. Followed with the Sexson trade and the CoCo trade. The Linebrink trade is his worst trade, it reeks of desperation. As if Thatcher and Inman for Linebrink was not bad enough, DM caved in to Kevin Towers and added Garrison to the deal making it a terrible trade for the Brewers. At that time I wondered why DM made this awful trade instead of calling Thatcher up to the bullpen?
  9. The Blue Jays were supposedly looking to trade A.J. Burnett during the winter Link. Wonder if they might be interested to trade Burnett for Cappy and Vargas?
  10. Contrary to Haudricourt's speculation, there is no extension for Yost this offseason. Ned has one year left, he's on a short leash and it's his last chance, it's the playoffs or out he goes. The team has been strengthened and improved from last season, payroll has increased to over $80M. There is no excuse, if Yost fails to achieve the postseason target, he deserves to be fired.
  11. For me, I prefer to have Blalock than Rolen for a couple of reasons... 1. He is younger with potentially more upside. 2. He is a pretty good all round hitter with a good K to BB ratio. 3. He's a lot cheaper, his contract remaining is about $6M for 08 with a club option for 09 or 250K buyout. Both Blalock and Rolen are recovering from shoulder injuries so that a wash, but Rolen is the better defender though.
  12. Really wish the Brewers could trade their excess pitching for Bedard. The Orioles do need pitching quite badly, hopefully an offer of Cappy, Vargas, Wise and Aquino for Bedard might interest them. The Brewers 08 rotation of Bedard, Sheets, Yo, Suppan and CV could be very solid.
  13. Me too, Kremblas deserves a shot and I much prefer that he be appointed before spring training than in mid season.
  14. Listening to Melvin, Yost's biggest strength is developing young players. If that's so, Yost is more suited and should be managing in the Minors instead. Winning and postseason qualification in the Majors is essential for this organisation, the manager must have right abilities to deliver on the postseason goal, or next year will end up being another disappointing season again. Yost's track record does not indicate that he has the right abilities to deliver on the postseason goal, he should not be back for 2008.
  15. Just wondering, could it be that Mark and Doug do not want to payoff Ned's final year so they decide not to fire him to save some money? If that's so, I think that's terrible. That 'Ned on a short leash' statement by Melvin sounds rather hollow, like a PR stint to appease the skeptical fans and get them buying next season tickets. Totally agree with FTJ, the 'short leash' thing is a bad idea, getting a new manager in the offseason is the better way. I think this may end up being Melvin's excuse to keep Yost for the entire 2008 season even if the team does below expectations again.
  16. Since the plucking of Pujols, the Brewers have lost 3 straight crucial games and kick themselves out of contention. Well done Ned.
  17. Dear Doug Melvin and Mark Attanasio, Please fire Ned Yost, he has failed to meet this season's goal/target. Earlier this year, I heard Yost and Melvin said several times that this season's goal is making the postseason. Their words were also published on the MJS. Yost has failed to deliver what he has said and should be accountable. I find that Yost is a big talker, but low on ability and sucks at delivering. Previously Yost said "No Excuses", but now I'm hearing excuses from him, as well as reading his excuses on MJS. Talk is cheap, performance and results are what matters most. Yost's track record is awful, especially on the road and in the second half. If Yost is back, I very much fear and suspect that next season will end like the previous 2 seasons, an atrocious road record, a second half collapse, failure to meet the goal/target (postseason), followed by lot's of useless excuses and spin on the MJS. I impore you Doug and Mark, please replace Ned Yost now. Sincerely yours, tigerbrew
  18. Man, it's depressing to think that Yost will be back next season. I seriously hope and implore Melvin and Attanasio to remove their vote of confidence to Yost, please replace Yost before 2008 begins.
  19. Not to mention most petty and most undiscipline action. Yost is behaving like a thug/hoodlum, rather than a manager trying to win a crucial game. Pujols is right, Yost's "managing" tonight has cost us this crucial game.
  20. It was 24 hours ago, but I still can't help feeling very unhappy with Yost over yesterday's loss. That loss was a huge downer and may have affected the team today.
  21. Seems like it's just minor hamstring tightness, I expect Sheets back on the mound starting in 2-3 days. I'm beginning to agree that Sheets is injury prone and a wuss. Seems like he's trying to disappear when the team and the fans need him most.
  22. Sometimes being in the big leagues is not that good, too much restrictions and scrutiny. Sometimes I wish I'm a free agent again trying out with teams.
  23. Just want to discuss further on Melvin, Yost and Kremblas. In the above Melvin quote from the article, Melvin said that minor league managers' performance are appraise more on how they develop prospects and handle their players, than the wins/losses. I think Kremblas has done a great job for the Brewers in the areas Melvin mentioned. Melvin also mentioned "it's a bit backwards down there" evaluating managers than in the majors, can I deduce from Melvin that big league managers' performance are appraise more on how well they win with the players provided and the team's wins/losses? Also apparent about Melvin is that winning is a criteria in selecting a big league manager as evident by selection of Yost. Prior to his selection as Brewers manager, Yost had very little managerial experience in the minors and none in the majors, he basically had no managerial track record and was very inexperienced. With the Braves, Yost was not even the bench coach, just the bullpen coach and later the 3B coach. But coming from a winning team like the Braves were, was a huge factor for Yost in getting this job, even though Yost had very little to do with the Braves' success. Kremblas has been successful manager in the minors with the players given. Even when the Brewers took his key players, he was still able lead his team to keep winning. Kremblas' managerial track record in the minors is impressive, now he just needs an opportunity to lead the big league team to winning and the playoffs too, which I think he is capable of.
