  1. Yea, I forgot the blue text.
  2. Great news. Both Grants and Salinas forfeited! But the office did find us another game. We now play at 8:15 at Dyer v. SOB's III (we played them last week IIRC). Sorry this league seems to have folded before the season ended. Perhaps next year we'll find a different locale.
  3. Knowing little about defensive metrics, I wonder if "scoopability" ever comes in to play for first basemen. The error always goes to the thrower, but it really seems like Prince is beyond subpar at digging balls out of the dirt. Thus, hurting the defense while probably having no effect on his defensive statistics.
  4. I'll do the honor of raising the ante to $150.
  5. All this talk about Favre and dugout fights, and nobody (until now) mentioned the 100,000 gorillas in the world.
  6. I got yet another email from that team, and they said they'd be there. Apparently they canceled vacation or something. I'll be there for the finale.

  8. Luke won't be there, but I like the idea. Not sure where Dunn's OPS figures in.
  9. Will call tickets only for Cubs games would be a logistical nightmare. Imagine standing in a line with several thousand people in front of you.
  10. Trade appears to have hit a snag... Check the St. Pete Blog, linked above.

  12. We just traded my brother for Adam Dunn, and he will be in the softball lineup tonight. Probably with 1 HR, 1 BB, and 3 Ks.
  13. Game is at Dyer. Remember, Dyer is the bad field we normally call home. I'll be there. Remember, Dyer.
  14. I'll be there for the finale. Here's to win #2!
  15. You need Landmark to win? I'm sorry we lost to them earlier...
  16. Oh, they knew. There comments about bus rides and the way they imitated him made it very clear they knew. Every team does have these kinds of fans. It is just unfortuante that so many seem to come out of hiding for what should be an excellent series.
  17. You could tell he had something, as he got pretty excited for little things and got shaky whenever he got excited. I found out after the fact that it was Aspergers while talking with his father. This kind of thing is definitely on my pet peeves list, so it really struck a chord with me. My fiance teaches special education and I once was going down the path to teach, so I guess this behavior bothers me more than most, especially reading many of the responses. You can poke fun at someone for choices they make to a certain extent, but not medical conditions over which they have no control.
  18. This series seems to bring out the ugly in both fanbases. Maybe I'll just stick to my non-Cub games, as not even the Twins series or St. Louis seem to get near as bad. Heck, even IN St. Louis, people were friendly and engaging my fiance and I in baseball conversation. It was a cool experience.
  19. Yes, I've been to Wrigley in Brewer gear. Turns out that some Cub fans aren't really bad people. I have not had one mentionable experience in 8 trips. I'm sure bad fans exist. I'd like to think that if I have a kid with Asbergers someday that we would be able to go out in public together. It is pretty absurd that a father should have to lock his son in a cellar until he dies because of the ignorance of some folks in the world. Also, I'm not exaggerating. It was absolutely disgusting. The father went off on the main instigators in the 8th inning, but that only encouraged them more. Edit to pretendastronaut: 3 rows is certainly not a good measure of the fanbase as a whole. I was sitting in a section typically filled by season ticket holders, but it looked like most of the regulars cashed in and were not present. I have seen bad Cubs fans. It just seems like nobody ever stops to consider that a segment of our fanbase is equally as bad. Hopefully Wednesday goes better.
  20. For the first time in my life, I was truly ashamed to be a Brewer fan and Milwaukee resident. It is ok to have fun with Cubs fans; games are intended to be for our enjoyment. It is not ok to absolutely hate anything and anyone with a red C on their hat. Specifically, 3 entire rows making fun of a teen Cub fan with Asbergers is not cool. Yes, he is cheering for lesser things than most fans. That does not give you carte blanche to rail on this kid for 7 innings. I know this is not representative of those who read and post here. But it really seems like the Brewer fans are taking a far more antagonistic approach to Cub fans this season. Remember, this is a game. Games are meant to be fun, and tonight was anything but. I was genuinely glad the Cubs won today. At least it made the kid and his father happy.
  21. Just print off a ton of those red circles with the line through them, and affix said circle to any Cub logo that may appear, be it on their hat or their shirt.
  22. Associated Press St Louis, MO - bball123h has been selected as a DFE candidate! The surprise was sprung at the St. Louis Zoo, at a pond overlooking baby ducks. "This is an exciting time for both the myself and the team. The future is undoubtedly brighter for both parties after today", said bball123h's new fiance, while examining her new ring for the 823rd time that afternoon. Both sides agree that a lifetime contract will be signed sometime in 2009.
  23. I'll 3rd stubhub. I got primo seats for the Thursday game in St. Louis at under face. You just need to check for a while and wait for a good deal to appear.
  24. Wow, Luke. My best wishes are with you and your family right now, and if there is anything I can do to help, just let me know.
