  1. I'm a big advocate of the drive-till-death theory. Unless you are spending $400+ monthly on repairs, you're still better off. That said, my truck just became a death machine (the bed was separating from the cab, very entertaining), and I just got a 2008 Toyota Matrix. 30+ MPG, and still plenty big for me. Every seat folds flat and has a hard surface, so I can pile a ton in there if I need to. I'd think it's plenty big for a family with younger kids. Granted it doesn't have the heated leather seats, but that wasn't really a selling point in Houston. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif The Subaru is approved of by Consumer Reports, which had a great deal to do with my purchase. http://autos.yahoo.com/co..._and_worst_used_cars.html As far as trade in, I still snagged $1200 for my 97 ranger with 220,000 miles, the bed separating from the cab, tons of electrical issues (dead AC, cruise, interior lights), and rust problems. Car dealers are hurting like crazy, and that won't change anytime soon, so you can go in demanding the world. Eventually, somebody will give it to you. If you run into a significant repair bill (>$1000), then I'd probably think about making a move.
  2. How would you fix it/ Apparently somebody doesn't do very much dividing.
  3. Yea, I love me some Netflix HD streaming. They have some stuff in limited options, but I don't like that it scales down to your internet speed rather than letting you buffer a larger portion of the movie. Oh well.
  4. The future is most likely streaming video. Whether it be vudu or something else (I'm rooting for some sort of Netflix expansion), I'd bet on streaming way before blu-ray. Edit: It will take a pretty solid bandwith expansion to happen on a large scale, but I'd bet on that too.
  5. I may make a celebrity appearance at the July 23rd game, as that will probably be my next time in town. It's been a lot of fun playing with all you guys, and I'm going to miss it this year.
  6. Apparently I have some forms from the county at home regarding team 2 in 2009. If someone wants to take over, I'll happily have the forms forwarded. As a sidebar, I am officially a cold-weather wuss. Going from 70s directly to 20s wasn't very pleasant.
  7. I've been playing that for months, even dumped in a few bucks. Plenty addicting, till you reach MLB and there is no more incentive to play. Maybe once they add new sets.
  8. I've officially become a cold-weather wuss. I'm freezing, and its 30 degrees.
  9. Merry Christmas everybody! Also, if anyone here controls the weather, if they could turn off the snow from 9-11 am, it would be greatly appreciated. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. Sounds like a blower motor. A quick google search should show you where it is located, and the part is probably around $50 at your favorite car part store. They're not too difficult if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. Edit: Before you go through that process, check your fuses. If that blew, that would be a really simple fix.
  11. Change-ups. Hitters sit on my 95-mph heat, and they instead get my 55 mph change which makes my arm hurt.
  12. Great! I look forward to sitting in the airport Wednesday morning watching my flight get canceled.
  13. If you are in college, head to the on-campus clinic if you don't have insurance. They'll take care of you far cheaper than you would pay otherwise.
  14. If you have a phillips screwdriver, you can upgrade the RAM yourself and save about 50-60% off of dell prices. Newegg even has a memory search feature where you can search by your laptop model, if you are a novice and want to be positive you are buying the right type of memory. As far as the install, remove the 1 screw from the bottom of your laptop, open the door, and place the memory in the slot (it can only go in 1 way, so you can't mess it up). Only possible error: be sure to unplug your laptop and remove the battery (no parts required, usually just a sliding lever).
  15. Don't use your work discount. 99.9% of the time, there are better deals out there. Check dealnews.com for good laptop bargains (it is one of the first sections of the page. In terms of quality, Dell and HP are pretty close in my eyes, at least in terms of reliability, so just go with the best price.
  16. If you look around the league, you aren't seeing a ton of big-name signings outside New York and LA. The economy has ravaged the league, and nearly everyone is a seller. The prices on the middle-tier guys is sure to fall significantly compared to years past. Superstars will still get big money (CC, Burnett, Furcal) while minimum salary (or close) guys are getting scooped up quickly (Nixon, Duffy, Julio here, Boone, Michaels in Houston, Izturis in Baltimore, Everett in Detroit, etc.). If those middle of the road guys (especially those who declined arbitration) want a job in 2009, they're going to be looking at significantly less money than they expect.
  17. Netflix + Online Streaming + Xbox 360 = No more cable! I absolutely love Netflix. I'm working my way through the Sopranos right now, and haven't picked my next series yet, but their turnaround is amazing (and I'm in Houston). I'm pretty sure they have tons of distribution centers scattered throughout the land, so turnaround should be pretty solid, regardless of location (of course, your mileage may vary).
  18. Couple points here: 1. Peter the Great has been dead for 250+ years. 2. People use the name "Peter", but I don't see many people named "Peter the Great Smith", or the equivalent. 3. The parents, in this case, didn't name their child "Adolf Smith", they went with "Adolf Hitler Smith", and also insisted on putting the child's entire name on the cake. My cake always said "Happy Birthday First", not "Happy Birthday First Middle Last". This was done to draw attention to their cause. Also, I don't believe "Aryan Nation" is a name for a single human being.
  19. I had a heart attack just reading that. Dipping bacon in bacon and mayo = a greasy death.
  20. I like how they are crying discrimination. I'm pretty sure there's a big warning about possible discrimination on the white supremacist applicaiton form.
  21. Weeks is the easy way out. Try one of: Bob Locker Carlos Velazquez Eduardo Rodriguez Reggie Cleveland Ted Simmons Joey Meyer Greg Vaughn (Vaughn's Valley!) Marcus Jensen Brian Banks Mark Sweeney Mark Leiter Andrew Lorraine Alex Ochoa
  22. Matt Stairs - Just won the WS. Fan favorite? from the dark era. Likely to go drinking with you.
  23. Just loaded up. $125 goes a long way. Thanks!
  24. I've been playing for a few months. It is addicting as heck, but pretty fun.
  25. I did go shopping last night, so I suppose it did. At least the fake snowmen seemed less out of place.
