  1. I was pleased to see Wisconsin politicians put aside their differences and approve more carry out alcohol options. That’s a win for struggling restaurants and a win for cocktail fans statewide. Cheers! https://www.wbay.com/video/2021/03/27/governor-signs-cocktails-to-go-bill-into-law/
  2. I enjoyed the last episode of Superstore. I won’t ruin it for anyone who has it DVR’d, but I was pleased it received a proper finale. Top 10 network sitcom of the 2010s, easily.
  3. Indeed. I have very fond memories of watching Badger hockey on PBS with my dad as a kid.
  4. Duluth beats North Dakota in quintuple overtime (5OT). Had Duluth not gotten the bye after Michigan dropped out, I’d like to think UND would have taken care of business last night. Instead Duluth benefits from fresh legs in what turned out to be the longest game in college hockey history. I need some new hobbies - watching the Packers, Bucks, and UND finish their regular seasons #1 only to disappoint in the playoffs is taking a toll on me. Anyone try stamp collecting?
  5. She was terrific. I’d put the original 53 episodes of Arrested Development up against any network sitcom of the past 20 years. The rubes just didn’t get it. That show was way ahead of its time.
  6. Oh come on ... Now Duluth gets a bye before they play tomorrow. Meanwhile, North Dakota (the #1 overall seed) has to skate tonight. I know we have to accept some inequities just to have college sports this year, but this is frustrating.
  7. Here are my Frozen Four picks: Duluth over North Dakota * Wisconsin over UMass Minnesota State over Minnesota Boston College over St. Cloud State * Duluth is just magical in the NCAAs. They haven’t won a conference title since the 80s, but have won 3 of the last 10 national championships. It’s a tough draw for North Dakota (assuming they both win their opening round games) and Duluth will have an extra 5 hours of rest. Side Note: They should have played an 8-team tourney in a bubble. I’m worried COVID will cut short a deserving team’s season (I don’t count Notre Dame as deserving - they were 14-13-2).
  8. That’s huge for #2 overall seed Boston College. They get to rest until the regional final while St Cloud and BU battle it out.
  9. Notre Dame is out of the tourney due to COVID protocols.
  10. Could be worse ... Nodak plays their first regional game at 8:30 pm. If they advance, they’d play the next day against the winner of Michigan and Duluth (who play in the early game at 3:00 pm). I’d rather have the extra 5 hours of rest than the better TV window.
  11. The men’s bracket is out: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sbncollegehockey.com/platform/amp/2021/3/21/22343496/2021-ncaa-mens-hockey-tournament-bracket-announced
  12. It’s pretty crazy that in the 20-year history of Women’s NCAA hockey, only 4 teams have ever won national titles: Wisconsin(6), Minnesota(6), Duluth(5) and Clarkson(3). Clarkson’s success is fairly recent. For the first 13 years, it was just a 3-horse race.

    Pizza

This thread reminds me of the high amount of processed food and Kool-Aid I consumed as a kid in the 80s and 90s. What were our parents thinking? I’m honestly a little worried about the long term GI consequences of such a diet. Thankfully, my post college years have been pretty clean (Diet Coke addiction aside).

    Pizza

My wife and I ate those in college and still buy a few today when we see them on sale for $1 (which isn’t often anymore). It’s not great pizza, but it is a great value.
  15. Good luck, the last two times I called to compalin, they basically said "too bad" and that was it. They did not budge on their "new" pricing, and it was either take it or leave it. If it works for you, please share your magic words... My Spectrum internet bill has gone from $39 to $75 over the course of the last 6 years.
  16. I appreciate that explanation! It’s helpful to understand the practical implications (like event tickets with significantly lower fees). Paying thousands for ‘limited edition’ video clips was not resonating with me.
  17. Can someone explain to me what a NFT is? I think I understand, but I’m not sure why someone would pay $200,000 for a short video clip of LeBron James dunking.
  18. Well, Superstore fans, at least we might get a Bo and Cheyenne spin-off: https://deadline.com/2020/12/superstore-bo-cheyenne-spinoff-johnny-pemberton-nichole-sakura-star-nbc-bridget-kyle-and-vicky-luu-1234658437/ This sort of feels like a Joey-type situation, but I’ll give it a shot.
  19. That old WCHA was tough. Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Denver, Duluth ... heck, even CC and Michigan Tech won multiple national titles while in the old WCHA. You could argue it was easier to get hot and win 4 consecutive games in the NCAA tournament than it was to come out on top of that conference after 24 games. Minnesota-Duluth hasn’t won a conference title since the 80s, but has 3 natties in the last 10 years.
  20. Maybe ... it’s really hard to say without any inter-conference play.
  21. I enjoyed the first few seasons of The League, which premiered when I was in my mid-20s. I recently finished the last 2-3 seasons in my mid-30s and it didn’t have the same appeal.
  22. Wow, Superstore was cancelled. It was a successor to The Office, with some of the writing staff and crew transitioning from one NBC sitcom to the other. They went 6 seasons strong. Sounds like they were still able to film a proper finale.
  23. ^^^ I see your point, but your property taxes probably won’t go up significantly. The fact that home prices have increased doesn’t really change the amount of money municipalities need to cover expenses. And while you may have no interest in tapping the equity in your home, it’s nice to know it’s there. My wife and I have been fortunate enough to have accumulated some cash during the pandemic (in hindsight, I wish we would have invested it, but there was know way of telling what the future held for us). We’ll probably refi from a 30-year to a 15-year soon and, when we do, we’ll get the biggest HELOC the banks offers. We have no plans to use it, but with a large line of credit for emergencies, we can make better use of our capital.
  24. I bought my current home in the Green Bay area for $213K in 2015. My current Zillow value is $279K (which I believe is accurate based on comparable sales). That’s about a 5% annualized growth for an area that has experienced a very modest population increase over the past decade. I’m not suggesting it’s overpriced, but there can’t be many deals out there.
  25. They’ll just start recycling ideas again. Look how quietly they churned through Spider-Man. Toby Macguire last played Spider-Man in 2007. Tom Holland started playing Spider-Man in 2017. In between was Andrew Garfield. 3 separate franchises in the span of 10 years.
