  1. we have our big inning coming with sheets leading off
  2. No one is as unlucky as Rickie's shown this year. Eventually that batting average will rise.
  3. Missed my first game of the year to study for finals tonight... I might just have to watch on gamecast tomorrow too...
  4. here we go craig. three pop ups to end it would be something really special.
  5. another ball right down the middle prince does nothing with
  6. this is going to be a tough loss to swallow
  7. gameday has every one of princes outs coming on a ball RIGHT down the middle
  8. so instead of a run having scored and suppan bunting runners to 2nd and 3rd with no out we have 2 outs and a guy on first for soup with no runs..... nice.
  9. seems like we've been getting a lot more double plays this year
  10. could've been a big inning without that pickoff
  11. It looks like Prince just drew a line parallel to his mouth and cut off all of the hair below it. AWESOME. If he gets some goggles he will look identical to Reggie Jackson. I was kinda diggin J.J.'s dirty man stache when he had it, but Prince is the faraway winner to me with the Stache-Chops-Fro combo.
  12. Weeks has put up almost identical numbers offensively to Derosa the last two years, while playin injured more than half of each season. He's been one of the most efficient baserunners in the league as well. I'll take a healthy Weeks over Derosa any day of the week.
  13. just like Braun, Fielder, Hardy, Weeks.... well pretty much every Brewer hitter besides Kendall and Counsell... Hall is going to hit better as the season progresses. As has been mentioned he's leading our team in homers and RBI, so I'm ok with him at .200 with good defense for now, knowing he'll improve.
  14. Geoff hits for the cycle, and also has 4 K's in a 16 inning game that the Brewers win 8-7 on a Suppan PH suicide squeeze. It's the first Golden Sombrercycle in the modern era.
  15. This might be a little bit of an overreaction by Melvin and Co. to Kapler's good play to start the year, but someone was going to have to go in the outfield. I'm sure Gabe is thrilled about the trade, the best of luck to him. I think the difference this will make on the season is VERY minimal.
  16. I wonder what the odds would be of Braun taking two more walks tonight....
  17. We aren't even 20 games into the season. I think we'll have a better grasp at the level of player Weeks is at the end of the season, or at LEAST halfway into the year. The sample size is simply too small to judge in my opinion. The last 2 or 3 games I think he's struck out looking at ball 4 at least 3 times, and has been stinging the ball right at guys all year, but people take a peak at his BA and K's and just assume that he's going to be hitting like this all year. I'm one who thinks this is entirely off base. I still think his season will end around a .260/.380/.450 line, which would be a great year offensively, and thats not including his stolen bases. As far as our future, I think Hardy or Hall will be the most likely to be traded once Escobar is ready, with whoever doesn't get moved playing 3B. I tend to believe that Prince, Yovani and Hardy will be the ones that are absolutely gone, and Hart, Weeks, and Braun as the ones that we may be able to keep past arbitration.
  18. Sheets, Suppan, and hopefully Yovani. It'd be great to get a W with sheets in there.
  19. Great game. Just some thoughts at the end. 1. McClung with the game of his life 2. LaRussa is on to Yost's schemes/in his head 3. I was in shock that we were still in the game when Counsell and the Hurricane doubled, we were getting completely dominated to that point Also I said to my buddy when Thompson had Prince 0-2 and kept giving him strikes that it was like he was just pokin' the bull and he was gonna regret it. For once I was right. One of the most satisfying wins this year.
  20. A couple time's he's swung at the first pitch off the top of my head this season are the lilly leadoff homerun and the gamewinning single against the reds. I seem to recall his other homers this year coming on 1-0 and 1-1 counts, which for him is pretty early in the count. It seems like when there's a guy on 2nd or 3rd he *usually* will swing at the first strike he sees. There are advantages and disadvantages to every type of approach, and taking a lot of pitches naturally is going to lower the BA and slugging a little bit, but the OBP is what we need rickie to have, and he's doing well in that aspect considering he's only hitting .200 thus far. Soon those hits will start falling in and the BA will rise as well. The thing is, when Weeks does decide to swing on the first strike, it's usually in a big situation and he hits it pretty hard more often than not. The book on Weeks as someone has said is that he doesn't swing at these first strikes, but when he does decide to swing, he's getting some pretty good meatballs because of that reputation. I think he'll take advantage of this plenty this year.
