  1. I predict 4 1/3 innings of no-hit ball for Bush. Yeah, probably. But, he will stay in for 6 and give up 5 ER
  2. blew it by him w/ the 88MPH gas....give me a break
  3. To each his own I guess, but if you do buy that hat are you going to leave the sticker on it? What is up with that? Why do people do that, or leave the tag hanging from the top, I don't understand that. Are you just going to wear it for a short time then take it back? Are you just too lazy to remove it? I often wonder if you go to these peoples houses are the tags still on everything? Is the for sale sign still in front of the house from when they purchsed it? Is there a big orange sale tag on the TV? Haha, well said. No, I would not leave the sticker on it. I just thought it looked kinda like an 80's style cap (like something I would see in White Men Can't Jump). I also don't understand why people leave the stickers on hats, its dumb. I think a lot of people collect those kinds of hats or something, much like nike shoes....who knows.
  4. do they televise the post game interview or put it on the internet or anything?
  5. Another interesting stat....Braun has seen 8 pitches in 3 at bats
  6. Ahh, another strong 5 innings from our starter! Gotta love it. Seriously though, we have to be close to the bottom in IP from our starting pitchers (if anybody cares to look it up and depress me more).
  7. It seems that the hardest balls Ricky hits always go straight backwards. Maybe if he batted left handed.... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. Interesting Stat : 23/89 Pitches from Suppan have gone to Hanley Ramirez
  9. I didn't think anybody could be worse than those yahoos on FSN Wisconsin but if anybody is watching MLB.tv (FSN Florida) these guys certainly give Schroeder and whoever that other guy is a run for their money. They don't actually do any commentating, they just answer fan questions the whole time and talk with "Hammer" (Josh Willingham).
  10. we look like the sisters of the poor out there. Every count seems to get to 0-2 or 1-2
  11. I wasn't able to see that pitch Cameron got called out on....did he have much of an argument for it being a bad pitch?
  12. bout time yost got fired up...he needs to ride this team's ass and get them going.
  13. If this keeps up, I am going to take somebody advice I saw on the forums earlier and stop watching for 2 weeks. Won't check the standings, nothing. It just makes me so frustrated, lol
  14. This has happened for years. Skaalen skated last year because Fielder hit 50 and Braun was on fire from the second he arrived. It is beyond frustrating. Braun swings at anything near the plate. I am not sure he knows what a walk is...
  15. Also - Just watch the difference between the Brewers and almost any team we have played so far. We swing at so many terrible pitches, its crazy. Doesn't seem like the brewers get the quality AB's that other teams get (most of the time).
  16. offense looks terrible again..... Scot Olson throws an 88 MPH fastball and Ricky Weeks can't seem to do any better then foul every pitch off.
  17. Yes I agree, someone SHOULD be hitting better than Theriot. Corey Hart is sneaking up there though. He's starting to get hot. Is it as depressing for everyone else as it is for me to look at the BA of our lineup every day? It stinks having just 1 guy hitting above .300 whereas the Cubbies have just 1 guy below .300 (something like that). Hope it all evens out in the end http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. I think that Corey Hart is a very undervalued guy not just on the Brewers, but in all of MLB. I would hate to trade him away, knowing that he is one of the guys we might actually have a chance to keep in the upcoming years. Is LaPorta a big strikeout / HR guy? If so, I would rather trade him than Hart because we have enough of them already.
  19. But that's being so selective -- why not include his time in Texas? Or if we're going to ignore a certain portion of recent results, why not his most recent 8 outings? I guess it is being selective, good point. However if you compare his outings in Boston + Milwaukee to Texas, you have an equal number of innings and 2 distinctly different players. Here is the data Milwaukee + Boston : 33.1 IP - 24 ER - 6.48 ERA - 41 Hits - 5 HR - 2.05 K/BB - 9/17 SV (~53%) Texas : 33.1 IP - 8 ER - 2.16 ERA - 23 Hits - 2 HR - 2.42 K/BB - 16/17 SV (~94%) Total '07+'08 : 66.2 IP - 32 ER - 4.32 ERA - 64 Hits - 7 HR - 2.19 K/BB - 25/34 SV (~74%) Remembering that this is about all that he has pitched since '05, these are good numbers to base anything off of. Clearly this is not the Gagne of old, even if you throw Texas in the mix. That aside, it is obvious that there are 2 distinctly different players here. In Texas, he was lights out, however the latest half of his "new career" indicate that he can't keep that up. As has always been my belief with Gagne, only time will tell, but at some point we can't just keep giving him the ball, having him go 53% on save opportunities. If he can revert to even his stats totaling from '07 + '08 I would take that from a rental guy, and hopefully that will be the case And on a second note - this has gotten way off topic (partly due to me), so I'll answer the original question. No, Gagne is not getting squeazed, he just isn't throwing enough strikes.
  20. The problem imo is that you're basing an assesment on 8-10 IP, instead of his full career. Understanding statistics and sampling size, I am not simply basing my opinion from the small sample that is this year. He stunk the second half of last year with the Red Sox as well. The key here is, even when his ERA was high for the Red Sox, his stats were still: 18.2IP 22/9 K/BB Ratio >>> his K/BB Ratio and HR given up are significantly worse this year than last. 1 HR Given up HR's are notorious for killing relief pitchers, especially closers. 4HR in 14.2 innings this year vs 3HR in 42 innings last year. I don't think his career stats are all that relevant at this point. I think looking back from his stint with the Red Sox last year through this year so far, the numbers do indicate a change in talent. His stats from this year and last are all we have to go off of. I am not going to look back 4 years and 1 TJ surgery ago and worry about numbers that he (and nobody else in the league for that matter) can't put up anymore.
  21. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/0281693a2cc962e9a759c8961b351f396b7a3d29.jpg Anybody know where I can get that hat.....I think its awesome!
  22. I was responding to eanelson4, who seemed to be linking his expectations of Gagne to his salary. Precisely. If Doug Melvin is willing to sink $10 million into a guy, I expect him to do well. We could have signed some middle of the road guy like Riske for $4 million to put in the closer role and hopefully go 9/14 on save opportunities. The extra $6 million comes from the team demanding results. If a guy is getting paid well to do a job, he should perform. If he is not, move on (or in this case we have Gagne for a 1 year contract). In the case of Suppan's ridiculous contract, you have to blame the inflated market for starters. Closers, however, only have to pitch 1 inning, maybe 2, so I think there are many more players out there that would make capable closers than there are that would make capable starters. I think Gagne is being paid like a good closer who happened to be in free agency last year. Elite closers who were free (or re-done) coming into this season got much more. Cordero - 4yr/$46M; Rivera - 3yr/$45M; Joe Nathan - 4yr/47M. I have a few problems with this statement: 1) Yes, his is being paid like a good closer, but he hasn't been one, which is the problem. Time will tell here, hopefully he gets it together 2) $12M is not that much more than $10M. It is documented that had Melvin known that the Reds only offered Cordero $2-3M more per year than the brewers that he would have done it. My point is that we could be paying a guy far less, and save some money for later years or something, to do the job that Gagne has done so far. Again, time will only tell though. Overall, I just fail to see how we can completely ignore the size of a guy's contract. That is a judge of their abilities. If they get paid large sums of money, we should expect results, especially when we don't have enough money to overpay players like the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, etc. Thats my thought on why I keep bringing up the money aspect of it.
  23. I certainly agree the defense is not helping out any Brewer pitcher, and probably is the cause of global warming. I second that opinion
