  1. This team continues to prove that it cannot manufacture runs consistently. You live by the sword and die by the sword I guess.
  2. this ump is tight tonight, isnt he?
  3. I hope not. I have no desire to see MLB expand to Asia
  4. Yeah, call Microsoft. After the 360's started having massive problems with the ring of death, Microsoft upgraded ALL warranties from 1 year standard to 3 year standard. So, odds are you are still under warranty. I have heard that they replace them pretty quick.
  5. We could even move 3TO to 1st short-term if need be. Let's not get carried away here. I love him as much as the next person, but logic states that he is due to cool down sometime. I don't see 3TO being in Milwaukee next season. it's OBVIOUS that Prince doesn't want to stay one more day in Milwaukee than he has to I couldn't agree more. I can't think of a realistic situation that allows Prince to make more money over the next 5 years than what he could have taken from the Brewers. If the contract were set up like this: 2008-2012 : 8,10,12,14,16M respectively = 60M/5 years and I would assume he goes through his arby. years like this (I'll give him one monster season for the benefit of the doubt, but just good seasons otherwise): 2008: 500K 2009: 6M 2010: 14M 2011: 10M 2012: 12M in free agency (first year of contract will be less than normal) = 42.5M / 5 years That is a big difference. Obviously, these numbers might be off some as they are just estimates, but I still don't think he could have made as much money. This leaves 3 conclusions: 1) His contract offer was for longer than 5 years 2) He wants to get the heck out of Milwaukee 3) A combination of 1 and 2
  6. One of these things is not like the other... I love this game! Let me play.....ooh, ooh, it looks like the Brewers are winning while everyone else is losing! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/f9e367f23b182df7c6a265c3ef20ad8199018edb.pjpg they look something like this right? (minus the rings). EDIT: or is this Gabe Kaplers....I can never remember.
  8. I'm a big fan of Axel's Bonfire in St. Paul. Dueling Pianos on Friday and Saturday Nights after 10. I think I know one of the girls that plays Piano there. It is a cool place (and close to Grand Ole Creamery, so that could be a nice date). Grand Avenue in general is fun.
  9. When I was riding my bike home from class tonight, I gnat got in my eye. Burns like mad and makes me look like I am stoned (only in one eye though).
  10. Anybody listen to him tonight? Did he have anything to say about it?
  11. I believe there are restrictions to him being in the home run derby, as he may accidently declare war on Canada, with NY being so close to there, and home runs becoming flying projectiles. You know, this would present quite a problem. Another studly performance tonight by The Muscle
  12. You know, its just too bad that Seinfeld isn't around anymore because considering how man laughs they had on behalf of ol' boy George, I can only imagine what it would have been like with Hank
  13. Also, Mall of America if you have never been there. Personally I don't think its all that great (just a huge mall), but women love it. If she likes to shop even a little, this is sure to win some brownie points.
  14. 3. You can take her canoeing on Lake Calhoun/Lake Harriet over in uptown. If you like the outdoors that might be fun for you. Also, I would recommend going to Grand Ole Creamery on Grand Ave. in St. Paul (if you like ice cream that is). It has been voted top 10 ice cream in the country and is always a treat.
  15. Maybe we should just use "ghost-men" altogether Aha! Now you are on to something. A throwback to playing a backyard baseball game with 4 people. Ghostie on first! Well, considering that catcher is a premium defensive position, perhaps the AL should have 2 DH's ... I mean, it's already so hard on them to squat behind the plate for the whole game... and considering shortstop is also a premium defensive position, we should allow a DH for them as well... we shouldn't expect them to spend all that time fielding, and then try to hit the ball and run the bases. Excellent post BtA. I couldn't agree more.
  16. Where is a good place to mingle at a family friendly restaurant/pub before the game? If you love a good burger and don't mind catching a cab, you should hop down to Matt's Bar on Cedar Ave. It's not quite 3 miles from your hotel (Mapquest) and that have what are called "juicy lucy's" up here in the cities. They are burgers stuffed with cheese that flows out as you eat it. I love them and haven't met a burger eating person that doesn't. As far as it being a family place, I have never seen anything over the top when I have been there so I would think you should be alright. You can see their website here. If you do go, make sure to get there 20 or 30 minutes before you would want to eat because they don't have much seating and there is a short list sometimes. On that note, I might be there myself before the friday night game. All this talk about these burgers has made me crave one. If anybody else is going to be there, let me know.
  17. I'd like to see Prince Fielder pitch. Ha, got me on that one. I suppose that statement could use some amending. I think what I was trying to get at was a baseline level of athleticism that should be required of major league ballplayers, if you know what I mean.
  18. I know this has somewhat been discussed earlier. BtA, if you think this is overkill, just go ahead and kill the thread. We have multiple Brewers knocking on the doorstep of the All-Star game. First of all, I just wanted to use this thread as a friendly reminder to all those who have not yet voted, hi-tail it over to MLB.com and get your 25 votes in (per email address that is, so feel free to be creative if need be http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) for these guys. Secondly (but most importantly): REMEMBER TO WRITE-IN RUSSELL BRANYAN. You never know what can happen with the power of the muscle...
  19. Article Here Rant Sorry for anybody that may like him, but this guy is an absolute moron. So one of his pitchers got hurt running the bases, big deal. What does he think about all of the other pitchers in the league that don't get hurt running the bases? I don't like the DH rule, never have. I think that if a person lacks at least a basic skill set at 1/2 of the game, they shouldn't be playing it in the first place. Look at Ben Sheets. He is the worst offense player....ever (and an injury prone one as well), but even he has managed to not get hurt while on the base paths. Hank can't seem to discern the difference between a fluke event and a true problem. Saying things like "the NL needs to grow up and join the 21st century" is just plain dumb. He has done nothing for me except add to the fact that I can't stand the Yankees and anybody that would stand behind whatever this buffoon says. /rant Thoughts?
  20. I'll be there Friday night, sitting behind the Twins dugout somewhere close to the field. Also, thinking about going on Sunday if I can. Figured I would just bus down from my apartment and find someone selling tickets or something. Anybody else sitting behind the Twins dugout near the field?
  21. Still not sold on him myself. He has done well his last few starts, but I want to see it for a few more before I give the big thumbs up to anybody
  22. They are the worst fashion trend since Zubaz Easy guy, I used to have a set of Green Bay Packer Zubaz. Greatest piece of clothing I ever owned!
  23. what a moron....these guys need to put some mustard on the ball when they throw to first.
  24. yuck, just hope we can hold them off until Oswalt goes out.
