  1. It's Coffey time!! Man, this guy has been an awesome stopper for us this year.
  2. PUT HIM ON and bring in someone from the bullpen. Please! Edit: Him being Pujols and it looks like that is what they are going to do.
  3. Here we go again with Manny... A hit and a walk, now he is probably going to have to bat to Pujols with men on. That sounds like at least one more run for the Cards to me.
  4. I love the whole shirt untucking thing because it makes losers like the Cardinals announcers (who apparently are the foremost authority on baseball etiquite) so angry. I could care less if our team did it or not, but when idiots like them get so wrangled up about it, I instantly love it.
  5. Did Wellemeyer get hurt or something? He seemed to be cruising and then they took him out.
  6. Corey pulls away on EVERYTHING when he is in a slump like this. It is so easy to see. When he is hitting well, he isn't pulling off of the ball, but rather hanging in there and driving it to all parts of the field. When he is slumping like he is currently, he pulls off the ball and can't cover the entire plate. On those fastballs and sliders that are away, when he hacks at it the end of his bat doesn't even make it out to the edge of the plate. If he hung in there, he could at least foul off those pitches and wait for a better one to hit.
  7. The thing about Hart (and Bill Hall for that matter) is that against righties, it's like watching the same at bat over and over. They throw a first pitch fastball for a strike which the batter probably watches sail right by. The second pitch is a fastball low and away for a swinging strike or a foul ball. After that, they pound sliders curveballs low and away until those two hack at it and strike out.
  8. I'm not aware of anywhere you can buy Sangster's. That stuff is awesome though, isnt it? Whenever we used to go down there, this one family would put three bottles in all of their suitcases and even give some to other people to bring back for them.
  9. Southpaw - I found THIS on another "ballhawkers" blog after trying to search google for the very same thing. Ironically enough, he knows HY, so I assume that this is the same trick. HY: As I have never really heard of you before this and don't have any opinions on your past actions, I don't have much of a response. I'll leave most of it up to the other people here. I was intrigued by this, however: "Is it fair to fault someone for doing something they enjoy? As long as the behavior of the pastime is not juvenile, the answer is NO." Now maybe I am in the minority (and I can very well be wrong), but I think putting on other teams gear to deceive the players, fishing balls out of the bullpen/off the field with a glove, and "ballhawking" in general is pretty juvenile considering the amount of balls you already have. That being said, I am sure I do things that you think are dumb/juvenile, so to each his own. I wish you safe travels and just hope that you represent the Brewers fan base in an intelligent, honest, and positive manner.
  10. Here we go with the cubs fans too: In the IGT from today, I jokingly said that Braun was being a little cocky when he smiled after making that spectacular catch. This was meant to make fun of the Cardinals and Cubs fans that love to hate on Braun. Well, I just read this little bit from NSBB about Braun's catch today: "The Braun catch was a nice catch, but you know what? Adam dunn, Chris Duncan, and other mediocre left fielders have made diving catches also. But unlike those guys, they lacked the showboating after it." Now that is rich. Braun made a spectacular diving play and afterwards all he did was roll over, smile, get up, and run to the dugout. But apparently that is showboating. I think this stuff is great. Just shows how idiotic some fans can be.
  11. WHAT A CATCH! Wow, that was awesome. I agree with Phx though, he was showboating too much when he smiled after the catch... Also, I loved the silent treatment that Gamel got. Pretty awesome.
  12. That was a naughty word BH said after he struck out there :X
  13. TLB - you are 100% correct. the ARI broadcasts are terrible. Sutton isn't very good at play by play and Mark Grace is a joke. He has to be one of the worst color commentators in baseball.
  14. I heart brewers: This is almost exactly what I do, and it looks fantastic. I have my PC hooked up to my 40" LCD 1080p HDTV with a DVI --> HDMI cable. The quality is awesome. The one problem that I have found this year with MLB.tv (no problems last year) is that it has a flaw in the code that causes the NexDef player to dump memory. If I am only watching one game at a time, this is no problem. However, they added the feature where you can watch up to 4 games at once this year, and I love to take advantage of this. After usually an hour or two of watching 4 games, I will get some errors that pop up saying no memory available. When this happens, you will no longer get HD quality until you restart the NexDef player. This MAY be due to my comp, but I remember seeing a support post about this and they haven't fixed it yet. In order to fix the problem, I need to restart my computer so it will bring up a fresh NexDef. Yes, the speed of the connection largely factors in on the quality of the picture. You said that your speed is nice, so you shouldn't have a problem. If you are watching on full qualtiy, as I said earlier, the picture is fantastic. The other "problem" (I don't mind) with HD quality on MLB.tv is that it has a minute or two delay from real time. If you have any other questions about MLB.tv, let me know. I have had it for the last two years and have been extremely satisfied (even with the stupid memory dumping problem). The quality is right there and the ability to access it from any computer is a major plus. One last thing. If you have some buddies that want it as well, just split the cost with them. You can have multiple computers logged into the same account at once, so this can make it cheaper.
  15. How long has prince been using one of Mike Cameron's bats? I just noticed on the knob it has #25
  16. I would love to hear what he has to say about this, it would probably be funny. Anybody have a clip?
  17. Justin - Northsidebaseball.com -- It is a cubs fan site If you want a good laugh, go check the IGT at NSBB. Everyone is saying how the Brewers are a classless organization because Braun is arrogant and apparently Rock chuckled when Brian Anderson said that the Brewers caught a break today by having both Ramirez and Lee out. You have to love the hypocrisy in Cobs fans calling anybody else classless.
  18. www.towerhobbies.com If you want to get serious, go there and buy a nitro car/truck/stadium truck. They are a blast and absoluetly fly! I used to have one, but got rid of it a couple of years back. I anticipate that I will get one again at some point. On the downside, they can be a bit pricey. I think my stadium truck was around $300-400 when I bought it. As I said, if you have a place to drive these big trucks (a big back yard, cabin, etc) where you can build some jumps and stuff, they are great fun. I'm not sure how much this would fulfill your "wanting to build it" request, though. I'm sure you can probably find some on the TowerHobbies website that aren't ready to run and require you to build it.
  19. Ross -- Making a trip to Margaritaville probably isn't worth a trip off the resort in Negril unless you are bored. It's just a fun restaurant and not much more. I have just gone there as a place to kill a couple hours of waiting time before a flight or if I have been staying in Montego Bay. As for the Appleton estate, it is in the center of the island and I would think you can arrange a trip there pretty easily from Negril or Montego Bay. Like other people have said, tips are key. Bring a bunch of singles. It is good form to leave one on each pillow in the morning for the maids. When someone carries your bags, throw them a buck or two. If you tip the bartenders, they will hook you up, etc. Also, if you make it towards the Kingston area (which I doubt you will because it isn't tourist territory) you can always catch a reggae boys soccer game or maybe even a cricket game. This is also where the Bob Marley Museum is.
  20. Heard this one in church the other day: You can either be right or you can be married, not both. I'm not married, but I've had enough experience with women to where that seems reasonable to me. About Jamaica, where are you staying (Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, Negril, etc.)? I've been there 9 times so I know the place pretty well. I can probably answer any questions you have. As far as things to do (or not do): 1) Dunns River Falls -- It is in Ocho Rios. Yeah, it's a really touristy thing to do, but I always had fun with it. 2) Tour of the Appleton Jamaica Rum Estate -- Free samples of some great rum. Need I say more? 3) Go snorkeling or SCUBA diving -- I really enjoy snorkeling (you may not). If you do as well, check it out. Take a boat out with a guide and have them show you the great reefs. I have never been SCUBA diving, but have always wanted to go. 4) Make my favorite tropical drink -- It's a bit girly, but tastes damn good while relaxing in the sun in Jamaica. Mix mango juice, pineapple juice, and CHEAP pineapple rum with ice. Drizzle a shot of 25 year old appleton jamaica estate rum over the top (do not mix that in) and drink. Repeat as necessary. 5) Do NOT go to the markets -- Yeah, it is fun for about 5 min. to barter with the people, but everything there is crap. You will buy it, bring it home, and never look at it again/wish you wouldn't have bought it. Don't waste your time 6) If you are in Montego Bay (I assume you are flying in there) and have a layover or are staying there, check out Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. Solid food, and the place is a blast. 3 floors of fun. There is a hot tub on the roof, but it is about 200 degrees, so don't go in that. They also have a waterslide that goes form the roof and winds down into the ocean. Once in the ocean, swim out to the water trampoline, jump around, realize you are too old, and go back in to have a beer. 7) Drink some red stripes. Whenever I am down there, I like it, but when I get back in the states, it sucks. It is just soo refreshing in the heat. 8) If you like soda, try Ting. It is an awesome grapefruit-soda type beverage. I love it. Maybe I'll think of more things to do later. I hope your trip is a blast.
  21. I hope Macha loses sleep about taking Parra out after the 4th....
  22. Good God. I want to throw the remote at my TV right now. What a moron. Walk Moyer who batter .078 last year to pitch against Jimmy Rollins. Jorge Julie is a microcosm of everything wrong with this ballclub right now. I'm so thrilled that Macha put him in...
  23. So we took Parra out (who was cruising after that terrible first inning) for this? 2 walks and a wild pitch?
  24. Come on, that would make things WAY too easy http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. Anybody watching the Texas v. Toronto game? Hamilton just broke his bat while swinging and the barrell came all the way around and smoked the ump right in the helmet. He went down and they are going to cart him off I think. Hope he is okay.
