  1. This one wont be rained out, they'll get five in. According to Uecker this looks like a quick band of a storm.
  2. Butch has been working with Jenkins a lot so far. I heard they are working on his front leg, which he is putting to much weight on. When he's going he keeps all of the weight on the back foot and explodes through the ball. He'll get there. It's May not August.
  3. A nice little tidbit. Ben got behind 1-0 to 6 Braves hitters all game...He came back to strike 5 of them out.
  4. I see Brady Clark has yet to read the "Baseball for Dummies" book. RUN!!!
  5. Helms has shown that he CAN hit. He really needs to buy into the Brewers approach (patient, opposite field) or else it's time for him to go. Guys like Keith Ginter and Bill Hall have to rot on the bench, when they have less playing time under their belt and STILL do the small things better than Wes.
  6. Sacrifice Fly from Jenkins, Scoring Podsednik Two Run Double from Overbay, Scoring Counsell and Hall Ben Sheets has to be the happiest man in the ballpark, doubling his run support of 1.5 in his last four starts...In the FIRST inning. EDITED: Bad grammar.
  7. It was a fun two hours in the chatroom! Exciting two innings in the whole game, entirely worth it! GO BREWERS!
  8. I don't think anyone can argue the obvious managerial error in pinch hitting Durrington.
  9. - Brewerfan rookie, bucksbeat If we're not, then we'd better get out of the way of the other 29 teams who are. Come on Geno, that isn't how I meant it. I just can't understand why we are letting a 25 year old in Hall rot on the bench in favor of 33 year old Counsell. Like previously stated we could easily stick Ginter/Spivey in the #2 hole and still get more production than Counsell can offer. We need to get our young guys more at-bats for potential trade value in the future. We have to admit the fact that 3/4s of the infield will be filled by Minor League talent in the future, not what we currently have. As for the Jose Hernandez ceiling for Hall. I think the closest thing to Jose Hernandez on this team is Wes Helms. Here's an idea, let's trade all of our young players for players in their 30's because they have a higher OBP.
  10. Are we trying to win the World Series this year? I have to agree that we should be starting Hall. The biggest reason is that he's 25 and Counsell is 33. We're in a situation where we need to start seeing what we have for the future, either to trade or start. Hall needs consistent at-bats to show what he can do, let him grow as a hitter. The big problem is Hall rides the bench a couple of days, then gets a couple at-bats. I don't know many 25 year old players that can come off of the bench and play to their full potential by being patient at the plate. You ride the pine and you want to swing away. I am high on Billy, mainly because of the Reds series at Miller Park. He hits the walk off homerun, and comes up with the bases loaded the next night. A 25 year old normally tries to pull the ball, he took it to the gap the other way. It goes to show that he can be a smart hitter that doesn't try to do too much. As for the #2 spot I would much rather play Ginter than anyone on this team. I'd like to drop Spivey to six so he can drive in the doubles machine.
  11. I spend a lot of time and effort ripping on Helms, and he goes right out and sparks a two-out rally. Nicely done. It's a good news/bad news hit. It started the rally, which is the good part. The bad part is now Yost will stick with Helms for at least another month of a slump because hey, he did come up with a clutch hit that one time. I was questioning Yost sending Clark out to the plate over Hall. I'm stupid I guess.
  12. When Helms starts hitting (and he will start hitting) I wonder who people will want to replace next? I think the point is, why is Ginter not in the everyday lineup when he is hitting (which he is)? If Spivey were healthy, Ginter would be getting splinters on the bench. We can do without the power that Helms provides. Helms for his career doesn't have a month with an OBP above .308 until July. I'll take Ginter and his career .357, .364, and .317 in May, June, and July. We have to face it. Even if Helms gets into a streak like last year, Ginter is still better (minus the power).
  13. Hopefully Hall AND Ginter get the start today, along with Grieve in right.
  14. Yeah good job Yost did of trying to give Adrian the win while coming close to costing the team the game. That's smart managing! Well to be fair, there aren't many good options in the bullpen either to bring in, in the fifth. I think Yost was fairly confident that we would put a couple more runs on the board before it was all said and done. Jenkins with the very impressive defensive game in LF. If this guy stays healthy, he better win a Gold Glove. I truly think he is one of the top 10 defensive OF'ers in the game.
  15. Do we all understand that Wes is a huge downgrade from what we had in Jose Hernandez, who could play third as well? We need to get this guy out of here. He is far too streaky with his upside being mediocre at best. Only driving in five in a month with Pods, Spivey, Jenks, and Overbay in front of him. Pathetic! Watch his swing, doesn't it seem like he is swinging a bat made of cement? Podsednik was criticized for having slider bat speed when the Brewers signed him, Helms has a much slower swing.
