  1. I can't understand the comparison for player movement in the NFL to MLB. Superstars are nearly always locked up by their teams in the NFL, you cannot say anything even close for MLB. The obvious reason it seems there is more roster movement in the NFL compared to baseball is a 53-man roster versus a 25-man roster.
  2. I understand that the MLBPA would fight a Salary Cap to death but couldn't there be some kind of compromise? Maybe setting a salary cap and a salary floor? I have to believe that teams who spend pocket change on rosters are as much to blame as those who seemingly have endless wallets. As of MLB Opening day 2008 the Yankees had a payroll of over $200 million and the Marlins had one of just over $21 million. As of NFL Opening day 2008 the Cowboys had a payroll of $151 million and the Chiefs had one at over $81 million It seems it's not just the high end disparity that hurts baseball but the low end. The Marlins spent $60 million less than the Chiefs (Lowest payroll in NFL) just as the Yankees spent $50 million more than the #1 team in the NFL.
  3. No exotic story. Grew up with the understanding that you root fall in love for with your hometown teams. Period.
  4. I just cannot understand panicking on December 4th. The Brewers had an offer on the table for CC, I can't see them breaking the market open bringing in Free Agents until they knew what he was going to do. While we "knew" he wasn't going to return to Milwaukee, that offer was there. Now we're getting into the point where we see the other FAs getting offers and the Brewers can gauge where the true market is so they can set up some kind of plan. I trust that Mark A will be both fiscally responsible and put the best product on the field he can, not completely gut the team. Looking back to 2007 before the collapse, the Brewers played very well with most of the players we have now. They didn't go out and break the bank. They made some wise decisions and put a good team on the field that at least had the skill to hang with the big boys. The same could be said for 2008 prior to dealing for CC. Although it's evident now that the Brewers needed him in the second half, the Brewers weren't exactly out of it before he came. There's still plenty out there and there's always the opportunity for a trade. Think of this at least. A few years ago we weren't in this situation. The bar was so low it was underground.
  5. I love horror movies an go through phases on what I like to watch. Stephen King's IT is so well done, right now that has to be a fav. One that creeps me out to this day is Sleepaway Camp. Horrible movie but the ending always sticks in my mind. If you've seen it, you know what I mean.

  7. I can see the Brewers point on this. The cost and the wear and tear of the grass in the wet, soggy months of April & May. Sure it's a stadium that taxpayers helped build but facts are facts, none of us have any special privaleges in regard to the field. Darn. The stadium is there to generate revenue, UWM would generate about as much as the Brewers selling tickets for people to come and listen to Mark Attanasio read a book.
  8. I was looking at the Brewers bullpen and Guillermo Mota was warming up.
  9. Awesome... Just Awesome. I was in the club level and was honestly just sitting in awe watching Miller Park going crazy all night. Simply the best Brewer experience of my life. Playoff baseball brings out the best in people, everyone seemed to be in "the mood." A lot of cheering, chanting and cow bell!
  10. Looks like the lady in the picture to me (the one sitting on his lap)
  11. Being born in '86 it's safe to say that this is the happiest day in my Brewer fan life. Being a little kid going to County Stadium, watching forgettable games, it is all worth it! I have always loved this team and am proud to have watched all of the bad to get to this point. This is so sweet! I love you fellow Brewer fans! THEY DID IT!
  12. While I definitely think this is an appropriate move considering the way last September went and the way this one is going, I am mildy sorry to see Ned go because he seemed to have a competitive attitude that meshed greatly with the turnaround of this franchise. His shortcomings were obvious but the blame can't solely go on him for these breakdowns. The team seems more aware of getting booed at home (Hart) than realizing how poorly they are playing to warrant those boos. I'm more of a silent fan at games. I clap, never boo, but can entirely understand when others do. No one put this team in this position but the players. Everything has been attempted to give this team the best chance to win. With that said I am tired of hearing people like John Kruk say that this team is in for a one year run, that we are going to be so bad next year with Sabathia and Sheets probably exiting. Sure we may be worse, but we may be better. There will be money opened up, we will gain Gallardo back and hopefully Melvin + Attanasio will remain a tandem and attempt to put the best team out there. Please national broadcasters, don't turn us into the 1997 Florida Marlins.
  13. I just have to get out how proud I am to be a Brewer fan right now. Sure it hurts to give up prospects since the team is at the level it is because of the farm system, it's just nice to be in a reverse role for a change. Remembering the 90's and early 2000's the change in this franchise has to get you excited about baseball in Milwaukee. Who would have thought that we would pick up a Cy Young Award winner? Who would have thought we could have pushed Ryan Braun into the #2 vote getter in the entire NL. (Yes, we out voted CHI and Japan) This is one dangerous and awesome team.
  14. Anyone notice that when the Brewers Live banner comes across it has the sound of opening doors from the old game, Doom?
  15. I have to agree. You can't let Turnbow embarrass himself any further. As it has been throughout his struggles, it is up to the organization to decide they are going to put an end to his time on the team. You have to feel bad for the guy. You don't try to be "hated" and do all of the wrong things.
  16. I'm glad they said Ben Sheets was on the stationary bike. I was REALLY wondering why he was shaking back and forth and sucking in air during the Brewers Live interview. I was thinking some really weird post-game ritual.
  17. Ballgame Baby! http://chicagoist.com/images/2004_09_ronniewoowoo.jpg Friends let Cubs fans drive drunk!
  18. The first thought that ran into my head when I saw the blonde in the red coat was that she was a little high class for that place.
  19. I think Lou Pinella needs a diaper change.
  20. Man.. I hate everything about Chicago.
  21. Prince...is...human. Braun's spikes where high. Brewers baserunners are punishing the Cubs infielders. Looks like we can look for this to be a physical season series. Any guess on who the Cubs decide to plunk in retaliation?
  22. Well you see both the negative and the positive for the pitcher batting eighth. I'll take two runners on with the meat of the order coming up.
  23. That could've been so much worse.
