  1. After tonight, the Rays and Red Sox will both be sitting at 2-8. And we thought we had a bad start.
  2. With Greinke it sounds like he's being set up to start his rehab on April 18. I would just give him 3 starts down there to be safe on April 18, 23, and 28. Then he can slot into the open 5th slot on May 3. Makes sense to me.
  3. http://brewersbeat.mlblog...-debuts-by-end-of-april/ More good news on the injury front. Things seem to be turning around for us finally.
  4. Man, I remember back in the day when I watched both WWE and WCW when the war was at it's best. That was great stuff. Nothing will ever beat the attitude era WWE for me though. That was back when I actually looked forward to watching wrestling. Now, I still follow it, but I DVR it and fast forward through most of the show. It's not anywhere near the same anymore.
  5. Yeah, I agree. It was mostly done because the audience has changed to more young kids, because of guys like John Cena. That pisses me off, but it's just the way it is. The attitude era was obviously a lot better, but the landscape has clearly changed. You might be onto something about the Orton character, except that he still punts people in the head, which is how he "killed" legends. Either way, PG does suck. It has also made the Divas pretty much irrelevant.
  6. He can start with DFA'ing Kotsay and calling up Boggs. Then he can dump Almonte and find a another backup infielder (Cruz would've been nice). Then get rid of Nieves when Hart comes back.
  7. The reason why your scenario has no chance of happening is that Nieves would be left as the only righty on the bench. That's just not gonna happen. Almonte will be kept as the righty pinch-hitting option off the bench.
  8. http://brewersbeat.mlblog...ucroy-back-with-brewers/ Keeping 3 catchers for now.
  9. http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/2011/04/11/lucroy-back-with-brewers/ Looks like we're putting off the catching decision. That tells me that it really is a tough decision for them. The tell-tale sign will be who gets the starts in relief of Lucroy until Hart comes back.
  10. That was good stuff from Ueck there. I really want another playoff run, just to here all of the golden calls he'll have. There would be nothing better than a World Series winning call though.
  11. Yeah, but with Kottaras we're not talking about pinch-hitting appearances in the middle of games. We're talking about playing full games from time-to-time. Defense does matter for a backup catcher. I agree with that comment when it comes to bench bats, but Kottaras won't get many pinch-hitting appearances. I would still go with Kottaras, but there's definitely an argument for defense as well. I just don't view Nieves as a defensive ace behind the plate.
  12. Yeah, really potential is the important thing in this situation. Kottaras and Nieves are what they are. Lucroy is still developing, and is still probably better than both of them at this point. He's at least equally as good, and I'll play potential over the other catchers any day of the week.
  13. I also think another thing they should consider is that Kottaras will likely get snapped up by someone if he's DFA'd. He's pretty good at the plate, especially for a backup catcher. I don't see any way that Nieves would get picked up, so he could make it to AAA if we wanted to go that route.
  14. There's no way they will both be on the team once Hart gets back anyway, so it really seems like a pointless argument to me. It's possible that Reed will get let go when Lucroy comes back just to put off the decision, but when Hart comes back one will have to go. I don't see them dumping Almonte instead of one of the catchers in that situation. I think Kottaras should be kept. Nieves really doesn't bring enough to the table, even as a backup.
  15. I think the point is that we really don't need that much offense from our catcher. Defense, and the ability to call a good game, is more important. That is why I want Lucroy in there almost every day. He's a decent hitter, and plays great defense. I think Kottaras might even be let go, just because he isn't as good as Nieves defensively. That was a huge play to throw out Byrd today, but he really doesn't throw runners out consistently. I would hate to see him go, but really our backup catcher will only play every 5 days or so anyway. Kottaras in no way deserves to be an everyday player.
  16. Yeah, Saito is looking like a possible candidate right now, but they're saying that he'll be ok. We'll see I guess.
  17. I noticed that for a few games, Rickie had Jump Around as his song for his first at-bat. Then today he no longer had it. Also, some Justin Beiber song played when Mitre came out today. I really hope that's not his song. If it is, I just lost a lot of respect for him.
  18. I agree on Orton. He should've just stayed heel. I liked him a lot better that way. Now he's some sort of crazed face, which is weird. It's like he's still a heel, but everyone likes him. It's a very odd gimmick. Him and CM Punk had a pretty good match though. The HHH/Taker finish was dumb too, I agree on that also.
  19. I think Stetter will get optioned. Braddock has already been used as a 7th inning guy, so I think they value him more. Estrada will probably go when Hawkins comes back, and then Green will go when Greinke gets back. I think Hawkins will come back between the April 16 and April 26 starts, so Estrada will go if Greinke is gonna be ready for that April 26 start. Otherwise, Green will just go and Estrada will go later. Green is really just a guy who can only retire righties, so he's not that useful to us at this point.
  20. Man, it was awesome to be at that game today! HUGE WIN!!! I loved every minute of it! To all those Chicagoans out there, won the series, won the Super Bowl! Haha!!!
  21. Looking like Lucroy will be back on April 12 now. That would be pretty sweet. I'd have to think that Parra and Hawkins aren't too far off either. Maybe Hawkins will come back after Estrada makes the start on April 16. Seems like Greinke could make it back for the April 26 start now. He might only get 2 starts before that, so he could be at a 75-80 pitch count, but that's fine. Parra could come back around the same time as Hawkins. Hopefully Hart goes on his rehab assignment next week and is back by April 18-22, and then we are good to go.
  22. Grab that 13th straight shutout inning and call it a day.
  23. And Kotsay hits one to the same spot he always does. Just got a little air under it this time.
  24. Gotta get that power bat in there. Like last night in the 9th.
  25. http://brewersbeat.mlblog...metable-getting-clearer/ Looks like I was right. Greinke is set to be back by early May.
