  1. I think anyone who makes 30 errors at any position is uncomfortable. That's how errors are caused. If you make a bad play you will get an error. Braun makes the same mistakes in lf as he did at 3b. It's just easier to make errors at 3b. I'm pretty sure Gamel isn't comfortable at 3b either. Maybe he could work in the of like Braun has. Truthfully, I don't think Braun is a good fielder. period. Bad fielders can just be hidden in the of, not at 3b, or anywhere in the infield for that matter. I doubt moving Gamel to 1b like people have suggested would make much of a difference.
  2. As of right now, there are two teams in the bidding for CC. The Brewers and the Yankees. That decision doesn't seem terribly hard to me based on the offers. CC is obviously waiting until at least one, if not all, of the California teams give him an offer. If any of them get remotely close to what the Yankees offered, he will sign immediately.
  3. For good basis of comparison, Braun had a combined 31 errors in 2006, splitting time between High A and AA, and in 2007 between AAA and the Majors, he had 29 errors. Last year in AA, Gamel had 30 errors. It's very similar. That worries me. Makes me wonder why we gave up on Braun at 3b, and we haven't on Gamel. One reason may be Gamel's improvement from 53 errors in 2007 at High A ball.
  4. Agreed, if anyone should have a deadline it is the Brewers. Signing CC affects the rest of our offseason. The Yankees can offer Burnett and Lowe as much as they want, and still easily be able to sign CC. That's why I don't get why they are in such a rush. The only guess I have is that Burnett and/or Lowe want CC on the Yankees before they decide to sign with them. They may see a different team as more appealing unless CC signs there.
  5. I think this deadline alone could sour CC on the Yankees. I understand the fact that they also covet Burnett and Lowe, but this is a huge decision for CC, probably the biggest one of his life. I don't see any respect in rushing a guy into decision like that, especially a guy like CC. If I am the Yankees, I would do anything and everything to get CC to New York. Lowe and Burnett would definitely take a far backseat at this point for me.
  6. I agree that Gamel and Fielder in the same infield would be a liability defensively, but it's a possibility only because of Melvin's desire to have lefty balance in the lineup. It is very likely to happen if we re-sign CC. The only way Fielder is going anywhere is if CC goes elsewhere, even then I don't see the chances being that high. Trading our best, and only, lefty bat is not something we need to do right now. That being said, Gamel has a chance to start at 3b on opening day, so that infield is looking more and more possible as of late.
  7. Bad idea to deal Gamel. I think Randolph can really help him at 3b, and it seems like we are apt to keep him there. Escobar has a better chance of being dealt than Gamel. There is no way Melvin would deal a young left-handed bat, and I would include Fielder in that category. We badly need lefty balance on this team. It's to the point that we may use Gamel at 3b every day at some point this season.
  8. Braun has the speed to play cf, but I think he lacks the instinct. He often takes a conservative approach to balls hit to him in lf. You can't do that in cf. He would really have to improve. The only reason he didn't make an error this year is because of his conservative play. I wasn't very impressed by his play in lf, because I feel that he took bad angles on plenty of balls, and should've been more aggressive, much like Geoff Jenkins. Although, Jenkins was injured a lot in his career, so I won't argue. With his arm, I would consider him in rf more than I would in cf. I think he could be better than Hart in rf.
  9. My gut feeling is that CC will just forget about the Yankees in hopes of getting a decent offer from out West. The Brewers may have a better shot now though. At least we can hope to get an early X-mas present. Am I right?
  10. Foxsports.com is now reporting that the Yankees have given CC a deadline to accept their contract offer. Here is the link to the story. http://msn.foxsports.com/...-have-time-limit?MSNHPHMA
  11. CC will take that money from the Yankees if either Melvin doesn't up his offer, or the Dodgers and Angels stay out of it. If the Dodgers or Angels offer money close to what the Yankees offered he is going back home. If not, then we will probably see him in pinstripes sadly, because Melvin isn't gonna up his offer enough to make a difference, even though a few more million per year might do it.
  12. Even if Sheets can be had for Dempster money there is no way that we would pay that if we were able to sign CC. The only way we will talk contract with Sheets is when we know that CC is for sure gone. Even then the chances of bringing back Sheets are very low. That would be a dream rotation though.
  13. I just found this article saying that the Giants would consider trading Matt Cain for Prince Fielder AND J.J. Hardy. http://www.sacbee.com/100/story/1248904.html What do you guys think of this? I think that is too much to give up for Cain.
  14. I wouldn't mind picking up Durham to play so 2b in place of Weeks, but where did you guys see that we are interested in him? Also, I am wondering what we would have to give up for him. I wouldn't think that it would be much, although I don't know what his contract looks like.
