  1. We didn't even come close to mortgaging the future with that trade. We don't even need an outfielder right now, or in the future. Also, I'd take that playoff appearance over Matt LaPorta any day of the week, and twice on Sundays. I waited my whole life to see that happen. I think it was a great trade by Doug Melvin, and if he does something similar this year, or any other year, I wouldn't be upset. We have to play to win. Those few months of pitching by CC were just incredible, and I wouldn't give back those moments for anything. Those are moments that can't be matched. I was at all the games down the stretch and in the playoffs with my Dad, and those are moments that we'll both remember forever. Whenever I hear anyone say that trade wasn't worth it, I get really upset, because it was worth it for anyone true Brewers fan who has waited their whole life to see a playoff game, or anyone who cherishes moments that last a lifetime. Thank you to Doug Melvin once again! He did more for Brewer fans with that trade then he will ever know.
  2. Alright, time to find out what we gave up. Not that I really care anyway. It was all worth it for a playoff appearance!
  3. I would use Coffey as the setup man, with DiFelice getting a shot when he needs a day off. Put CV back in a long relief/multiple inning relief role like McClung is in right now. Maybe even give McClung a shot late in games. And Dillard is being converted into a starter, so he wouldn't get the call if CV went to Nashville. It would likely be Swindle again or possibly even Littleton.
  4. Well, let's see. He dyed his hair black earlier this year, so I say he gives blonde a try. Maybe that will work out for him. If not he can go bald after that, or maybe blue.
  5. You guys are kidding yourselves to think Hardy will get sent down. If we send him down his trade value will drastically decrease even if he does better later on if he came back up. We need him to stay up and try to work it out here if we want to get any value for him in a trade. At worst, he has a bad season and we just go with Escobar next season and not feel bad about it. I think Hardy will be fine. I still think taking him out of the 2 hole is the problem. He doesn't see the good pitches that he saw in front of Braun, and because of that he's struggling. He's also had a ton of bad luck, with guys making good plays to rob him of hits he deserved. I'm confident that he'll snap out of it.
  6. Also, I'm intrigued by this Summer Shandy mix, I've never tried it before, but it sounds like a good idea to me. Easy ticket to drunkenness. What exactly is all put into it?
  7. Yeah he should be banned for sure. They should have cops trolling for Bud products, and whoever has them gets kicked out, and gets their beer confiscated. Lol.
  8. Thanks everyone, I knew I had to be right. In Milwaukee we stay loyal with our beer!
  9. Is it just me or does it feel wrong to drink anything but Miller in the Miller Park parking lot? My friend wants to bring Bud to our tailgate on Saturday, and I told him to go to Chicago with it. We are in Milwaukee, I think we should drink Miller, especially in our own parking lot. What do you all think?
  10. Yeah that's a very true observation.
  11. In the 90s in 00s we came into every season knowing we would suck. This year we are coming off a playoff appearance, and we all expected more from this team. That's all it is. I still have a lot more faith then I did in teams back then. I think it has a lot more to do with our terrible pitching, more from the bullpen as of late other then Coffey, then it has to do with facing good pitchers.
  12. Yeah, I think it is really boring to just see one of the sausages just sprint and pull away every single time. There is hardly ever a close race anymore. I preferred it when the races were fixed for entertainment purposes. I found it entertaining when the hot dog fell across the finish line on opening day though.
  13. And as far as the rookie vs. veteran argument for bench players goes, I think it has a lot to do with the fact that veterans transition into that role. Most of the veteran bench players were regulars at one point in their careers, which can make it easier to adjust to just being a bench player. A lot of times composure and preparation are keys when it comes to being effective as a pinch-hitter. Rookies and younger players will likely struggle with this greatly. I'm sure Nelson could adjust eventually, it will just take time. A veteran would likely be able to step in and produce quicker than he will be able to, because he will have been there and done that before in his career. It's all about experience really. Many players would tell you that pinch-hitting is one of the hardest things to do in baseball. It's not usually a job that teams want to give to rookies on a regular basis.
  14. I've got no problems with Duffy. I don't see Nelson getting anywhere near 200 at-bats. Every ab he's had this year has been terrible. I just don't see Macha sitting Braun, Hart, and Fielder more than a few games each. It's possible that Nelson may not even get 10 starts this year, and he doesn't fit the mold of a pure pinch hitter. He needs to play at least semi-regualrly to be effective in my opinion. He's too inexperienced to be effective in the role he will have on this team. Duffy is more multi-faceted. He can come in to pinch-run, pinch-hit, and play the field. He is a very good defender, and is lightning fast. I think he benefits the team a lot more than Nelson does. Frankly, I see Counsell as the only bench player that will get any decent time this year. He has already gotten a good number of starts, and he has produced. That's not a surprise at all. I don't see McGehee getting much playing time either, except for possibly pinch hitting against lefties, which won't occur very often. Truthfully, I think we'll see Gamel come up for McGehee before the year is over. I hope that Nelson can adjust to his role, but I see it taking quite awhile. It's not easy to get that few plate appearances and be effective. Maybe he should get some tips from Mike Rivera.
  15. I think they should have Rivera catch Parra and Bush, because Rivera has past experience with Parra, and I heard they work good together. That would give him 2/5 of the starts like you said.
  16. To be honest, I think we should get Rivera in there more often to kick-start the offense. The only other thing we could really do is flip Cam and Hardy. I wouldn't drop Hardy all the way to 7, partially because Hall is somehow hitting well there in front of Kendall, who is our worst hitter by far. I think it just has to be a wait and see approach right now. We'll see if anyone steps it up, and then go from there.
  17. With Hart hitting so well in the 2 spot, there is no way he will get moved. Weeks and Hart are working well in the top 2 spots. Once Braun and Fielder get going, they will be even more effective. I don't know that it would even accomplish anything to move Hardy back to the 2 spot, especially right now while Braun and Fielder aren't hitting. The only way I would consider it is after Braun and Fielder start hitting again, so Hardy would see consistent fastballs in front of them. Right now it would seem to make more sense to just move Hardy down. Fielder is clearly being pitched around in key situations due to Hardy's lack of hitting to this point. That needs to change fast.
  18. Escobar is a more exciting player to watch then J.J. Hardy, especially in the field. I've seen Escobar play numerous times, and I can honestly make that comparison. Escobar will win a gold glove at some point in his career, and that is exciting. Cain is also just as exciting. Maybe not to the point of Escobar, but he will at least give us a legit leadoff option in the future, which is something we haven't had in a long time, which also excites me. Hardy can be used to get us another good starting pitcher, which also will make this team more exciting to watch. If we want to compete consistently, our pitching needs improvement, our fielding needs improvement, and our do-or-die offense needs to be fixed. Escobar and Cain, as well as the pitcher we get for Hardy will do that for us. Competing on a consistent basis in the future is exciting to me.
  19. I'm not saying that those guys don't excite me. What excites me is an infield of Fielder, Weeks, Escobar, and Gamel. With an outfield of Braun, Cain, and Hart. Then we have Gallardo and Parra at the top of the rotation, and hopefully get a good, young third guy to back them up, and still have Bush and Looper as solid 4/5 guys. This could happen next year. I'm still holding out hope that we will turn it around fast this year though. It's just frustrating to see this happen after all the excitement at the end of last year with CC and the playoffs. Here's to the hope that we stand strong and make a big acquisition again this year! If not, we'll be back before long! I just think this horrible start has knocked people down. We will survive.
  20. It's impossible to get excited about a team that obviously got worse on paper. Losing CC was expected, but still a letdown. Obviously Gallardo is as good, or better, than Sheets, and the rest of the rotation is pretty much the same. I think the bullpen will be better once Hoffmann comes back and everyone moves to a more natural role. The problem is that our starters are not even close to consistent enough to expect anything out of them. Suppan sucks, Looper is a .500 pitcher, Bush is a .500 pitcher, Parra is nothing but a question mark at this point, and Gallardo is the lone bright spot. Our offense is the same as last year, although I think Kendall has gotten worse, Hall still isn't as good as he used to be, and Hardy is suffering from batting 5th. We came in expecting to be worse than last year, but I came in expecting this team to at least be entertaining. So far, it's been hard to watch. Obviously, our bullpen will improve, and our bats will wake up, so we will win some close games, but I don't see this team being above .500 this year. What I am excited about is the future. Maybe we will get a glimpse of that still this year in Mat Gamel and Alcides Escobar. Now that would excite me!
  21. Let's pray that Braun gets the jungle karma from this. He really needs it. I predict he homers tomorrow night.
  22. We just gotta hope and pray that Soup gets his control back with the extra bullpen session. Then we also need to hope that Gallardo throws a gem against Santana. Otherwise this makes no difference. I was hoping that they'd just skip him, but oh well I guess.
  23. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/43000597.html He'll pitch Sunday and Gallardo will pitch Saturday.
  24. Sick joke man. But there's no way that we'd do that deal. Escobar and Parra is way too much to give up. Although, that's probably what they would want for Peavy.
