  1. I have no details other than what I said. With that said, source has hit on these in the past: Bucks new uniforms MP name change Fiserv Forum name
  2. I just got sent an email from a source that's been reliable in the past that Stearns is leaving Milwaukee. I realize they denied his Mets interview but this person says it is done and will be announced later.
  3. I agree with you completely in your last paragraph, FTC. There isn't consideration for the reality that we are animals, and I said earlier, we all create exceptions for ourselves that we do not grant others. This effectively makes most of these kind of efforts fruitless. "If I do this once, it's OK, but you should not do it." Nearly everyone does that, with things as mundane as eating an extra dessert, all the way to drunk driving once or twice. We're not good at this sort of thing as a species.
  4. This is a major hang-up for me as well. I suppose it's plausible that it stops some of stuff, which in effect is all that really matters. But it's why I think the effectiveness is drastically overstated. Probably somewhere between washing your hands and 'duck and cover'. I also don't appreciate the way anyone questioning this is treated like some conspiracy loon. The official word intentionally misleading people and giving them false security is not a new or made-up thing. It's happened throughout history as long as there have been governments. Do I think there is a mass conspiracy at work? No. Do I think the masks provide some protection? Yes, but I think it is minimal and, some advertising is at work here, to both help people feel better and keep things humming along to some degree.
  5. Seeing that several players supported him via social media when he opted out, yes.
  6. "The experts" have been wrong about just about everything Covid related, so I won't be following their advice, no. Virus is not spread by human/human contact. (When it was already proven it does.) Virus is not spread airborne. Facemasks do not help. Facemasks DO help prevent spreading to others, but doesn't protect you. Facemasks DO protect you as well. No way will vaccine be ready by the end of the year. Denmark completed the largest randomized controlled study of masks. Result? They don't work. Same thing WHO found in 2019. But results of the Denmark study will never be made public, because politics come before public health. Covid-19 is spread from symptomatic people coming into contact with others. Can someone who's asymptomatic or presymptomatic spread it, sure, probably. But largely unproven, especially the chance of spread. So take precautions, of course. But there's no reason not to have Thanksgiving and Christmas. And it is thanks to people like you, that people like me won't be seeing their families for the holidays. Pretty much exactly the sentiment I'm referring to that has way too much traction. There's been way too much "whose fault is this" and not enough of the acknowledgment of the fact 70 million Americans are obese, a bunch of those people have at least one other comorbidity, the fact that obesity and poverty are correlated, and who is less likely to be able to get out of work, or have a job that can be done at home? Poor people. Without taking a position on these things, we can't pretend that stuff like UBI doesn't have an influence here. This has just become way too much of a black and white thing when it is loaded with gray.

But there's no reason not to have Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think masks work to some degree but that degree has been drastically overstated and too many are acting like it is a magic shield. I'm mostly with you though. I don't say it to anybody because it's just not worth fighting. So much of this is posturing and using any kind of study at this point as concrete evidence as to why one place did well and another didn't is just so premature. I wear one everywhere because it's easy but I've never really believed it's doing a whole lot. My belief is that in the end, Korea and New Zealand will have benefited from easily sealed off borders and extremely healthy people more than some fabric and distancing. That won't be stated conclusively until years from now though.
  8. I'm not seeing the huge cost unless you're a believer in draft picks, which I am not, not in the NBA. Even without Giannis the Bucks are still probably NBA purgatory floating around the 8th seed so these picks aren't going to be lottos. What would you rather have, some first round picks or Giannis signed? The Kings deal is crazy. They did us a huge favor. DDV is a nice player but they let us dump salary and we actually got something back.
  9. When Giannis goes 30 and 10 the Bucks lose by 10 the problem is not him falling short in the playoffs. When your supposed third scorer is chipping in single digits multiple times a series, he is the problem. The back-to-back MVP that is the crown jewel of every capable GM is not the problem with the Bucks in the playoffs. He's fine. The coach is possibly another story. It started get really silly watching games where Giannis would score 35 points and pull down 15 rebounds but miss a bunch of shots going into the wall in the last 3 minutes and people would conclude he needs to develop his game. He is what he is, he's not transforming his 18-footer into Glenn Robinson's at this point. They desperately needed a supporting player capable of generating his own offense at the end of game so the Bucks aren't solely reliant on Giannis closing out games at the line. Bogdanovic is a quality shooter who also won't be a negative defensively. That is the key in this for me. It's one thing to add shooters, it's another to add shooters who can at least hold themselves together on the other end. Holiday is a lot more than that. If it doesn't work out, it'll be hard to say the Bucks didn't at least have the right idea and they certainly tried.
  10. The only part of it I'm meh on is giving up DDV but let's be honest, nothing else they gave up was anything, other than the draft picks, which I really don't care much about in the NBA and they weren't going to be high picks anyway. Giannis is going to sign. The key thing to me is they got a better offensive player without sacrificing Bledsoe's defense. This is exactly what we've been clamoring for so I don't how anybody isn't excited about it.
  11. That's what worries me, along with the hunting opener next weekend. I've seen several posts and memes going around Facebook in the last few days indicating ideas like "you don't know how much time you have left with your loved ones, so don't sacrifice your holidays with them". It makes me want to slap those people upside the head. I mean, I get that family time and tradition is important, but if there was one time where it's prudent to break with tradition, this is the year to do it. In your opinion it's prudent. Politicians say it's prudent- for everyone else but them. Slap me in the face, because it's not prudent for my family. I haven't see my siblings all year. More importantly, my parent haven't seen my siblings all year. Two of them have a few days off around Thanksgiving, and they are traveling back to WI. We are having everyone over at our house. Oh no!!! You tell my parents who are 89 and 88 that they need to wait two years for the virus to pass to see their children and grandchildren. Yes, there's a chance one of us pass on the virus to them. Odds of that happening AND dying from it are way less than one of them dying from lots of other causes at their age over a two year period. They've seen over 24 people now test positive in their senior living community, between staff and residents. Not one has been hospitalized. So they want to see everyone, not knowing when they'll get that opportunity again. Weighing the risk, this is an easy call to make. We won't even sing, just to be sure. We keep focusing on these singular events like Trick or Treat, 4th of July, and Thanksgiving, when in reality there is probably just as much or more damage going on Friday night at the bar, people afraid to call in sick, etc. We have a tendency to tie things to easily blamable moments when it's probably not the reality of the situation. We could celebrate Thanksgiving as hermits and it won't matter because we did a wonderful job of spreading this before Thanksgiving. We'll keep on doing that.

We're doing a 5-person Thanksgiving and there are 4 that live in my house, but I can't quite get past how anyone thinks that 9-10 months in, we are going to a get corner on this with isolation and masks. No public official can come out and say this, but it is over and we lost. The US can't stop it. It's all crisis management now until we have drugs. Arguing over how effective lockdowns/masks/distancing are, are moot points by now. Even if masks were 100% effective and isolation is 100% effective (it is) it's not going to happen. The nature of exponential spread is such that a lot of people following along and a lot of people not following along just doesn't really make a difference. Even if a person does everything right, for many people the necessities of everyday living will force them to cross paths with people who aren't, or at least another person who came across a person who wasn't. It's also a virus. Sometimes you just get sick, and it's not because you did some terrible thing. I just feel like there's been so little acknowledgment of the reality that lots of things are beyond our control, and people are always going to make exceptions for themselves that they don't grant other people. I.e., "no should be seeing movie right now, but I'll just go this one time." We're animals and we spread viruses. It's happened throughout history. I know the rebuttal to this is that other countries handled it better, but that time has passed. We had to do that in January with some semblance of unity. and cohesion and it didn't happen. The other factor that has been mystifyingly under-reported is just how ridiculously unhealthy the US population is. I'll never believe that wasn't the single biggest factor that made it so devastating here.
  13. Silverstein on Twitter: Here's what made Bakhtiari's deal doable for GB: his salary cap number this year will only go up $1.5M to $16.25M, leaving the #Packers about $5M under now. Next year, he has a roster bonus of $11M, which GB will likely guarantee and pro-rate so his '21 cap # will only be $11.1M.
  14. I'm not sure this is how it would play out. If the Packers opened the flood gates, it's hard for me to see the place not packed for the first game. There are a lot, a LOT of people, who just do not care about this thing in the slightest. I would expect a dip for less popular teams and teams that play more often, like MLB. I'm sure overall attendance would decrease. But I think there are huge numbers of people chomping at the bit to do things, and some aren't doing them not because of the virus, but because of the restrictions that make these things different.
  15. Wait, he bets $99K to win $9K? Wouldn't that be a $90K loss? I think he wins $108k if he wins. $99k if he loses. But I'm a very novice bettor. No, that would be an incredibly easy $108k. He wins $9k, and loses his 99 if the Jags win.
  16. Wait, he bets $99K to win $9K? Wouldn't that be a $90K loss? Correct
  17. It was straight up at -1100. He wins $9k if the Packers win. It's very odd.
  18. Funny you mention that. I rarely have confidence in the Packers. I never count wins before the clock hits 0:00. This week, however, I was reasonably confident the 6-2 Packers would dispatch of the 1-7 Jaguars. The football gods are smiting me. Some guy bet $99k at -1100 on the Packers to win.
  19. Who is? I would wager against this team winning the Super Bowl but the hysterics over losing during a game to a bad NFL team are starting to get tiresome. I can go up and down the list of SB champs and find loads of crappy teams that beat them in the regular season. The last Packers team that won it lost 6 games. There's a 9-7 Giants team in there that looked totally meh most of the season and was in the bottom 1/4 of defense rankings. There is no checklist of things you can and cannot do in the regular season. I'm not high on this team by any stretch, but it usually really is just who is good enough to get in AND starts playing really well at the end.
  20. He was open too. Terrible throw.
  21. I didn't. I said they lost to an 0-10 Colts team. Statements like "SB contenders don't lose to ____" are just nonsense. This Packers team isn't that good. Doesn't change the first statement.
  22. Sure you can. SB winners lose too. Not to the worst team in football not named the New York Jets. The Packers team that lost the Super Bowl in '98 lost to an 0-10 Colts team.
  23. I LOLed at this tweet. There’s a really good point there- does anyone feel that this defense lacks talent? I can’t believe the answer is yes. Therefore, scheme and coaching would be the bulk of the problem..... Where? Because I think the middle of the front seven is quite bad. It's a medicore year from Clark and a bunch of dudes. I think Pettine is getting fired after the season though. He was not MLF's guy and it sorta felt like he kept him out of necessity the first year. There's just no way that was who he really wanted coaching his defense.
  24. It's really quite alarming how long this has been the stamp of the Packers. Even when their defense hasn't been terrible, it's still not been a really physical one, just one that's gotten enough pressure to make splash plays on defense and get turnovers. Even the championship team wasn't all that physical. They were good, but the best player was a cornerback with a ridiculous knack for forcing turnovers.
  25. Wind thingy is 1st and 4th quarter.
