  1. That AB was equally horrible if he knew it or not. Can't stand still in that situation.
  2. Just when I thought we couldn't sink any lower, we get Lohse with the game on the line. Awesome.
  3. Just a horrific start to what will likely be a very very long season I'd normally have a different response to this statement on 4/7 but looking over the roster, I can't argue with it. Depressing.
  4. Through 5 games, the Brewers pitching staff leads the majors in hits, HRs, OPS and TB. They are 2nd in OBP and SLG and 4th in ERA. And it's not the type of leading you're looking for. Small sample size for sure but what's disturbing is the total lack of a clear leader in this contest at this point. They started 0-5 in 2011. I'm going to try and stay positive and hope it just turns back into Yuni.
  5. Then don't read it. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks! No problem. Glad I could help. Didn't mean it to be snarky if it came across that way.
  6. Then don't read it.
  7. I guess it depends what they're all about. Do they want to learn about baseball? Do they just want to yell? Do they want to see some history? Do they want to eat? Do they just want to get drunk? I've taken a bunch of "rookies" to MP over the years. I've been to hundreds of games so I'm past the point of needing to be in my seat for every pitch. Don't get me wrong...that's what I'd ultimately like but if I can get someone to enjoy baseball on any level, I'll go with that. I assume you've been to a bushel of games so I say you offer them the options and go with it. It may not be you're ultimate night at MP but try and remember the first time you were there. I love taking people there for the first time. Reminds me of going anywhere with my nieces and nephews. Only difference is, when they point at something and say "What's that?!?", I have an answer. Have fun and update us on how it goes.
  8. Why do you have to have a "closer" and a "set up guy"? I know this is the way it is now but I don't understand why it has to be this way. The whole aspect of a "guy" having a "role" in the bullpen drives me nuts. It takes all the responsibility off anyone by just saying "He's our guy." Axman doesn't have it right now. I know it's 2 appearances. I know things can change. But when did we become so obsessed with worrying about feelings or egos or whatever that you can't just put someone in there without causing a full blown conspiracy theory?
  9. Carlos waits patiently in the dugout prior to getting to the plate. Serious question: Do you get any kind of base awarded if your bat and/or helmet fly out of the stadium in fair territory?
  10. Noone else did it. In a year we thought it was a joke multiple times.
  11. This signing makes me realize how contrasting the 2 major franchises in this state (and I'm not talking about you Bucks) are. You have GB who refuses to sacrifice the future for the present. And everyone complains. And you have the MB who refuse to sacrifice the present for the future. And everyone complains. I'm glad I'm not a GM. Comparing football to baseball isn't fair in a general sense. But if you compare the patience to urgence strategies, I'll take the patience. It's more frustrating to fans in the moment but more beneficial to a franchise in the long run. How many Suppans must one man suffer?
  12. OK. So you're making gobs of money selling illegal drugs to professional millionaire players. And not only do you keep records on a piece of notebook paper, you also use their full names? How about Bryan Aun? Or Alex Rodrigo? Seriously? I'm not sure who's dumber. The guy selling it and writing it down or the guys buying them? And if you make 10s of millions a year, you can't get "a guy" who does this stuff for you and your name is NEVER ANYWHERE REMOTELY NEAR THIS GUY'S 8TH GRADE NOTEBOOK?!?!? With all that being said, I think Braun is a cheater and he probably has been for a long time. I think it's still rampant in baseball despite Selig pounding the drum on how well the testing works. I read a few posts where people said they don't care and I get that. But I do care. I found a way to let it go last time. I knew better but figured he'd never get close to any of it again and avoid any more junk. I thought that last season was vindication for him. But who knows. All of this stuff is so advanced now that I doubt anyone outside of those doing it could begin to fathom the techniques they use. I've watched too many people give too many statements and pass too many tests without having a positive one through multiple sports to believe him at this point. Too much smoke. I'm just rambling now. Ugh. This sucks.
  13. I work evenings and had to listen to most of the games on the radio. The line I will miss the most is Uecker saying: "Chopper up the middle. And juuuusssst past the outstretched glove of Yuni B. And two runs score."
  14. What a horrible couple of weeks. Cards bounce Milwaukee at home. In the post game interview, Prince talks about Milwaukee like it fell into Lake Michigan some years ago. The national media croons over TLR and his genius. Then, when I can at least take solace that they didn't finish the deal, they come back....TWICE.....to win game 6 and come back and slam the door in game 7. I think it's time for a little ESPN blackout in my home.
  15. I understand the bitterness to watch this go the way it's going. But as a baseball fan, this has been an amazing series. My disdain for Pujols, Molina, TLR and CC are clouding my ability to just sit back and enjoy what's happening right now. But no matter how you slice it, this has been one of the best series in recent memory. I'm a glutton for punishment. I stood and watched the Cards celebrate at MP and I'll watch them do the same if (when) they pull it off tomorrow. I know that looking back on 2011, this will be one of the most memorable seasons I've had as a baseball fan. I've never gone through so much excitement, tension, disappointment and now bitter..........something. I guess I have to tip my hat to the Cards no matter what happens tomorrow. Call it luck. Call it fate. Call it crap. But it's why I watch sports. I guess the joy of winning wouldn't be so great if the pain of watching a team like St Louis win weren't so awful. I don't buy any of that garbage I just wrote. I'm just trying to make myself feel better. I'm going to go puke now.
  16. I was OK with it until last night. I neither liked it nor disliked it. I went in early to see this "special guest." That was embarrassing.
  17. The Cards are the self proclaimed keepers of baseball. It's OK if TLR deems it to be appropriate. I find it annoying but they've kind of earned it by, well, winning. The Brewers are polar opposites. They have fun and do goofy crap that would annoy most on this board if it weren't the Brewers doing it. Oil and water. It's what makes a rivalry and it's why rivalries aren't friendly. I just love that SOMEBODY hates the Brewers because nobody is blasting the Astros right now.
  18. I think the fact that no starter aside from Gallardo has stepped up is what has people worried. Agreed. The pitching staff as a whole outside of Gallardo is worrrisome. It seems that no matter who is pitching, there are runners all over the place. On top of that, I think there's a general expectation that Milwaukee will collapse at key times. It's something, as fans of Brewers basesball, we've seen way too many times. Personally, I'm going to remain optimistic and enjoy the ride. I've watched enough playoff baseball to know that it only takes a few breaks and a few guys getting hot to trun a series around.
  19. Just called it and they said it's expected to be closed. Can't understand why but it will certainly make it louder in there.
  20. I'm 73% anxious that 90% of the threads on this board are cluttered with 23% of the posts arguing whether stats are valid or not. I was really nervous all day but now I'm just ready to get to the park tomorrow. What will be will be but if you told me there was going to be a game 5 at Miller Park when the season started, I would have been thrilled. The last 2 games were maddening but the score right now is 0-0. I'm 100% sure of that.
  21. I needed this. I was 4 in 1982 so I have no memory of the run they had. As a Brewer fan, I have no idea how to handle this. I had no expectations in 08 so the win was just a bonus. But now that they have the potential to go deeper, I just wanted it to be over quickly. But I get a game 5 at Miller Park that I'm fortunate enough to have tickets to. What more can I ask for as a fan. Win or lose, I'll be out there giving it my all. It's been a great season. I see no reason for it to end now. GO BREWERS!
  22. I worked until midnight last night and didn't go to bed until about 2am. I was wide awake at 6:45. My girlfriend rolled over and asked me what I was doing awake. I said, "Can I get up and open my presents?" I can't wait to get to the park. 08 was nice but I had no real expectations of a deep run. This year is different. I'm expecting a really fun and memorable October!
  23. Does anyone know what the cost of general parking was per game when invoiced with a 20 game plan? I need to sell some and don't want to overcharge anyone but sent my invoice off in a frenzy and failed to make a copy of it.
