  1. I think now is the perfect time to extend Marcum. The last 2 months of the season don't worry me, but I think it may slightly depress his value. Minus the injury year, he's been about as consistent and reliable as they come so I say go for it as long as it's a market value deal or better.
  2. I never imagined I would see an all Brewers national commercial for the post season. Pretty cool despite the current cold streak. I used to hope so badly in the 90's that TWIB would show just one Brewers highlight. Now we have a team that is an NL highlight. Enjoy is while it lasts people.
  3. How ironic that you want to give him a pass for being a rookie and needing time to adjust when RR himself won't allow the same for players who would probably be outperforming the gritty vets at this point.I'm not giving him a pass, I'm simply reserving some judgement given it's his first year as a manager. And there is no evidence that the Brewers have any options on the current roster, or in the minors that are clearly better than Yuni and Casey. Those options simply offer a change and the potential for some more production, but are no guarantee. They could just as easily backfire on the team. I think RRR has done a nice job throughout the year of getting our bench players enough playing time to stay fresh, while letting the starters work themselves out of slumps. Adjusting does not mean making knee jerk reactions to every negative that shows up. It's a marathon right now. Let the sprinting happen in the playoffs when the finish line is in sight.
  4. Whatever happened to small sample sizes. RRR has managed only 138 games as the main skipper and he's certifiably terrible? Like any rookie, he's feeling his way along and adjusting on the fly. He's not perfect by any means, and I have questioned a number of his moves, but the team has overcome a poor start to lead the division by 7.5 games after a sweep by the Cards. The true test will be next year after Fielder is gone. Until then, I'll reserve my final grade, and say for certain that I would much rather have RRR over Macha and Yost. BTW - I am convinced some on this board would never be happy with our manager unless Billy Beane or a computer were coaching. I would like to replay the half of the '82 season that Harvey Kuenn managed and see how many questionable moves he made in game compared to RRR.
  5. Underground 69? Wait, they're in the 30's now. This does not make sabermatric sense, man.
  6. What a jag bag. You have to be pretty pathetic for me to feel a twinge of sympathy for the Cubs......Did I just say that?!
  7. If I am an opposing manager, I have every runner take off from 3rd the second a grounder goes anywhere near Prince. 95% probability that his throw home will suck.
  8. I'm guessing if they were to pan on the bowl from the OF, you'd see TONS of green seats. 10 PM is pretty late for an AZ crowd.Oh no doubt. But 10 years ago there may only have been five fans cheering, instead of hundreds. I was impressed with the noise they made in Boston as well.
  9. I meant pitch to him. Now walk Roberts you idiot! This is working. Why walk Johnson you idiot?!
  10. I have no idea why, it was hit right at him.He had to move slightly. The official scorer gave Prince some leeway knowing the amount of gravity he had to fight against in order to move.
  11. I think Prince sidling up right next to Wolf caused him to rush the throw and he got confused. Follow it up with another error (should have been) and Prince continues to hurt this team on defense. I don't think I've ever seen him play so poorly in the field. It's almost like he doesn't care.
  12. I would hug him, then drop kick his cast and run like hell.
  13. I think the boos are actually part of the game too. People just do that out of habit and fun. These are not Jeff Suppan type boos. It's more of a mock displeasure with the other team doing something we all know is part of the game. Same as booing an intentional walk of your best player and then cheering as he goes to first. I don't find anything wrong with it and I actually think it adds to the fun of being at a game.
  14. That's a case where his hustle actually hurt him. It looked like he was going to have an easy triple once he got to second. Even so, it's nice to have Morgan's energy on this team and see everyone having a good time.
  15. Looks like Fielder will be getting an IBB every time he comes up with first base open today.
  16. Would someone please give me the play by play for the last half inning? I am just watching Gameday and it sucks. Thanks.
  17. This is the most comfortable I've felt during an 0-2 start. The Brewers owned the Reds in the first game except for the bottom of the ninth. And Marcum was way out of sorts tonight, but still composed himself enough to keep it a three run game. Last year with Bush, Suppan or Parra, this would have been a 10-1 loss with two extra bullpen pitchers being used. All of this with five players on the DL and I think the future actually looks bright.
  18. When the official scorer in Cincinnati is watching the play, anything can happen.
  19. Took off today and will be watching from home in my sweatpants. I also took off tomorrow through Tuesday so I can continue the holiday at the home opener and then have a recovery day. It's like Christmas in spring people!
