  1. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gifWhat does Mike Rivera have to do to get on the field these days?
  2. Twins over White Sox Rays over Twins in 5 Angels over Red Sox in 5 Cubs over Dodgers in 5 Brewers over Phillies in 4 Rays over Angels in 7 Brewers over Cubs in 7 Brewers over Rays in 5 (Clinching the WS at Miller Park)
  3. I can't believe it! Please Dale don't have Cam and bill at the top of the lineup again that would be embarassing....
  4. Weeks, 1b? No thanks..he can't hit for a second basemen
  5. and Brett doesn't get hurt ever. let along every year......but i do see the point that was trying to be made.
  6. I'm in it. Before the series finale against the Cubs I figured it wasn't a must win ball game. 5/6 or even 4/6 heading into the last series against the Central champion Cubs (resting), will put the team in excellent shape. The cubs have to help us against new york however or this thing could get ugly.
  7. I am so excited. I have to work until i think 8..but hopefully no later. I am considering finally saying no i can't to working later. (I have caught maybe 1 game in the past week due to working 2-3 hours a night past my scheduled shift!) I miss watching the team..yes, even given the circumstances.....Brewers gave me a birthday present yesterday with the Yost firing... the fire has been lit. Let's out play the Mets/Phillies. What I would do...... 2b Durham/Weeks... I don't care Weeks is hot ...and Durham is doing well. Pick a name from a hat..o wait, that will get me fired you mean? rf Hart.. allow him to steal some freakin bases already. ss Hardy lf Braun 1b Fielder CF Mike Cammeron 3b Mat Gamel!! PLEASE P CC C Jason Kendall
  8. I am not giving up on the season yet. This trade was a good trade......relax. Easier said then done..but it all will be ok.
  9. Are we lookin at Kapler out for the year? Or am i over worrying.?
  10. I'll be back. I watched a team send out Tyler Houston at 3rd base. I watched Jamey Wright, Ruben Quevedo, Ben Hendrickson, Rick Helling, Ronnie Belliard, Jose Hernandez.....Wow this list is too numerous. Look at what the Minnesota Twins did this year? They lost Santana and Hunter and yet are still near the top of a division that many thought would be competitive. (Indians/Detroit are disappointing) This is the case with the Crew too...They probably will lose those key players but that is the realities of the small market...sigh..You can look at how good the Cubs, Cardinals, and Astros and Reds might be on paper but the games aren't played on paper thankfully. There is still a 3 game cushion and i firmly believe that the crew will manage a way to split the philly series and go 500 against the cubs
  11. I just knew that would be who it was............. he hit 249,999 too. must have really wanted this one.
  12. This isn't the place for it but i always wondered why hurricaine or luis pena wasn't brought up to make it 40 players. I can relate it to the fact that I think a team can never have enough speed. Look now if Gwynn and Escobar start, who is the pinch runner late in the game if needed? I wondered about Stocker too.. Guys that are a "lock" to swipe an extra base are a premium especially in the stretch run. my vote is .....gwynn as well.
  13. This has become a very interesting thread with so many different things to touch on For starters, I, like another poster in the thread, have defended Gagne to friends and family since his signing. I figured he must turn it around enough to post an era at least in the mid 4's and if he didn't, the contract was only one year long. That began to change when he blew it against the mets and then proceeded to come in and record 3 hard outs the next time out. Last night was the final straw for me. Gagne should be behind everyone in the pen besides de felice in my opinion. This isn't a knock on defelice but the defelice fast ball makes me cringe as well...I digress... I was at the game last night. Heck of a ball game thank you Gagne for having the home run go one section over from were i was seated in my first experience ever in the bleachers.I was one of a handful that DID NOT boo at all even though i wanted to. Booing upon entry in the game is terrible. Maybe he worked his tail off and came up with something that will work...but yet, we don't know that and insist on booing before we find out. he gives up the homer, ok i can see some booing. however, wouldnt it be more encouraging for fans to just be silent about it and then root him on. my whole section was booing him like crazy and as soon as the next batter stepped up i was clappin and cheering him on. he is a milwaukee brewer people for better or worse. Accept it! I know he is disappointing, and ned's usage is disappointing but booing isnt going to give him his 98 mph heater and nasty off speed stuff. Solution...Don;t DFA him. that would be silly in my opinion. Gagne barring a miracle should not be on the post season roster however becasue so many guys should beat him out. Gallardo*fingers crossd* mota , shouse, riske, torres, dillard, stetter.. gagne has work to do. Therefore, I look at it like this. Since GAgne has been nothing but classy in this community, why not be the great fans i know this city has. CHEER...at least when he comes in the game...i am sure he is smart enoguh to understand boos because of current performance, but i am sure he loses faith coming in to loud boos..louder boos then barry bonds ever got , or any chicago cub. just plain sad brewer fans... Note... i know 90% of this board knows the proper time to boo and cheer and are very knowledgable fans. Hopefully this can reach that other 10% that lurks around here.
  14. Ah yes, Len Kasper......I love impersonating him and his whiny voice ....cubsssss winnnnnnnn.. (those who have heard it obviously know exactly what i mean by that) he sounds like he is hitting puberty. it is pretty funny but then i remember oh crap the cubs just won and now they are gonna sing that awful song. quick, find the remote... anyways, brian, if by some chance you do read this. i like the job you are doing but you need to shut up during no hitters.
  15. i had them at 96-66 from my original topic so I'll stick with that. So far i believe i am one behind pace( i had them winning 2 in pitt not 3)...looking decent so far
  16. I hate to say it but the 8th inning is going to be the roughest ride as Brewer fans. Most of our starters can give us 7 solid innings and Torres has been good in the 9th. I agree it should be a whose hot thing for the 8th. CV might not be much better of an option when the pressure cooker heats up.
  17. Dang it ! Don't know what i was thinking on that one. I was almost certain they played before then but i guess not.
  18. Karstens, you've been impressive! Be impressive some more. Please?
  19. I hope this is ok as I feel this is the point in the season where predictions can be made with pretty good accuracy considering we know who is good (Cubs Brewers) who is bad (nats , pirates) and the inbetween... Anyway I was goin through the contenders schedules the remainder of the season an i came up with some interesting results . Florida Marlins...(had to draw the line somewhere) 17-14. This puts them at 84-78 for the season and out of the playoffs. While this doesn't come as a suprise to me, some figured they would catch fire with all of that starting pitching. There schedule isn't too bad but the Mets and Phillies will beat them up and eventually they should fall out of things in mid September. Los Angeles Dodgers. 21-11....Putting them at 86-76 for the year. Yes, they are the odd ones out in that west race. Both the Dodgers and D-Backs have breezy Septembers. It's too bad (for them) that they didn't do the Manny deal around the same time Doug did the CC deal. I think that will ultimately cost them postseason in 2008. D-Backs. 20-12...They win the division by two games at 88-74. I have them going 500 against LA and the rest of the teams they play are in 4th place or lower in the division. It will suck having Webb and Haren in the playoffs but that offense is the one I would rather face over the Dodger offense. New York Mets. 19-12.. They finish 91-71 and tie with Philly for the NL East. I have no idea how divison tiebreakers work and this question will also come in play later. They will feast on the Nationals 6 times yet and the Braves for 3. Philadelphia Phillies.. 20-12...Starting with a loss tonight. However, Philly will finish smoking hot . I have them somehow sweeping Atlanta and Washington over the last 4 series of the season to force a tie. St Louis....17-13...Winning 90 games and getting 3rd will suck for La Russa and co. however, when that pitching gets healthy i think they will be a division champ in the years to come. I really like what St Louis has going for them. (and i could never cheer for the cubs if the brewers were stinkin it up) Cubs. ..16-16.. (96-66) Some would call this a reach and it is but only to a certain degree. St Louis and the NL East Hopefully neutralize the cubs somewhat. The Brewers MUST win those 2 series remaining to have a chance at the division but with the pitching we bring forward I don't see why it can't happen. Brewers 20-12..(96-66) It will take one heck of a run for this to hhappen but 20 wins is possible. I see more liek 18-19 but why not shoot for the stars. This would also, by my calculations put the head to head series total dead even. Would there be a tie breaker? Anyway, I had a lot of time on my hands on vacation but this is what i love to do. I go series by series in stead of just eyeballin it. Iwould hope this could get some talk going about what it might take. The wild card barring a terrible collapse just appears ours right now with the schedule and the lead we have already. (Any Around the Horn watchers, I would hav been at -200 the amount of times i have mentioned the S word..schedule..lol)
  20. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Mid April 2009.....
  21. The Barry ship has hopefully sailed. I also hope the Rays pass on him because I like the Rays.
  22. Gotta win these games. I'll take Bush's last line against them too.
  23. That wasn't very good round the clock baserunning http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  24. To me, Kendall is the most frustrating player to watch offensively besides maybe Cam. IMHO, a big leaguer that hits for the "power" Kendall does, should hit AT LEAST 290-300 probably over that. Given Kendall's amazing play calling and improved defense behind the plate, I would think Kendall should hit 260-270 and I could live with it. This 240ish (dont know what hes down to these days for sure) average is a terrible black hole. He is basically Cam, without the power batting average wise. Rivera has got to play more.
  25. I wanted to get mad at Ned, I really did. However, Ned was seen asking CC in the dugout. 130 is a lot of pitches and probably 20 too many. With that said, there are the extra days rest coming up for Mr. Sabathia and he said so himself. With that said, Ned better not make a habit of this especially in September when we have expanded rosters.
