  11. You cannot compare attendance from baseball, a sport that literally plays almost twice as many games as bothb the NBA and the NHL and plays in arena and venues that hold at most 18k to 20k per game. Ofcourse some of the teams will be below 65%. Most of those teams either suck or play in venues that are terrible. The bucks averaged about 13k in a building that holds 18k. That is slightly above 65% and I know for a fact that attendance number is high. It boils down to this. Baseball is attendance is at some of the highest levels in history. Which means more revenue for the teams, higher sponsorship dollars, higher salary for players and a better overall product. Did the owners make money in the process, yes, but that is only because they are running a business. The changes he has helped institute have been nothing but good. The only thing that I would like to change at this point is who get home field advantage in the series.it should be the team with the best overall record during the season, I understand that until you had realignment that wasn't really a feasible solution. However the system we have now is no worse then switching like they did in the past. In the end I think selig has been a great commissioner and will be inducted into the hall of fame (deservingly so). If people want to disagree with me, fine. But unless some crazy reports come out about him, me opinion is not going to change.
  12. It is point less to compare tv ratings for baseball to any of the other major sports. The number of games simply does not generate the same amount of interest on a daily basis as footbal or basketball or hockey does. Crew, you keep talking about the owners and selig lining their pockets and I am not sure why. Baseball is the most affordable option of the major sports and it is because the teams are being run like they should be...a business. Why should they lower the ticket prices when most people are willing to pay that price? This idea that baseball is a monopoly needs to die. Baseball is entertainment and as such competes against all other forms of entertain, sports or not. I get the feeling you think Selig has this power to do or change whatever he wants without any sort of backlash. Is he perfect...no. But find me a commissioner who has done more good in the past 7 years. I'm not ignoring the fist decade if his commissionership but clearly it could not have been all that bad considerin baseball is where it is today.
  13. What changes would you make? Keep in mind you have to get all the big market and small market owners to agree first and then get the approval of that little organzation call the MLBPA.
  14. I have nothing against Downtown. I was born in Milwaukee, went to Marquette University and love going downtown for a night out, but there are still areas in which I do not want to leave my car for 3-4 hours. North of the Ace Hardware store is one of them. I think the sigma of downtown, at least as it related to the BC, would be gone if they ever decided to do something with the are between 4 and 6th street between Juneau and McKinnley and if the Pabst Brewery renovations would be completed. As for the college basketball vs Pros thing, when people say college basketball is better then the pros, I think they are referring to the bigger college programs (Duke, UNC, Wisconsin, MU, UCLA, ect.). I have nothing against UWM basketball and hope they succeed as it is fun to see the smaller schools excel and make it into the tournament, but when people watch college basketball, they are more connected to the teams thus making the entire game more enjoyable. If the NBA ever decided to start marketing the teams versus the players, maybe more people would be Bucks fans versus Kobe, Lebron, or Wade fans.
  15. I'm not impressed by selling out playoffs games. I EXPECT playoff games to be sold out, just like I expect the home opener after a lockout that takes place during the winter break for kids to be a sell out as well. The reason I have little faith that the Bucks will be around in 10+ years without a new arena is that if the team is bad, they have nothing to market (outside the opposing team and/or players). There is no tailgating option downtown and I have no desire to go to bar or restaurant and spend a bunch of money multiple times a year. Parking can be cheap or even free but it involves getting there earlier or parking in places that I do not have a lot of faith in. Unless the Bucks have a multiyear run of success I do not think they will ever have the "tradition" that they had in the 70's and 80's. The NBA has changed so much since then and has left teams and markets similar to Milwaukee behind.
  16. I figured I would bump this thread vs. starting a whole new one, but if people feel as thought it should have its own thread, feel free. The announced attendance was 17K, but I was at the game and there is no way there was 17K there. The BC holds 18K+ for basketball and I would say there was, at most, 14K there. Normally that would be good for the Bucks, but with it being the home opener and no school for kids to go to the next day, I still feel it was disappointing.
  17. FYI, the Brewerfan.net ticket link has been updated to include June 21st vs the Rays as well as some games in early July. Feel free to call me with any questions. 414-902-4523.

  21. Correction, I just spoke with my rep and he said that sections 217 and 417 are still family sections and the no alcohol rule will be enforced. But in the club level family sections will not be enforced.
  22. I honestly cannot believe this topic has 13 pages. Here's a thought, why don't those who seem to be personally scorned by the Journal Sentinel's writing drive down and complain to the management in person. In fact, those who think they can do it better, go apply for a job with the JS. As far as AW and him "not liking the team," that's the way it is supposed to be. If you're a reporter, you are supposed to remain unbiased and impartial (or at least appear that way). If he was a Brewers fan, he would be no better than some of the "media" on sports talk radio. Is he more blunt in some of the things he says? Sure but no worse than TH. Side note, a leadoff inside-the-park homerun is a pretty good way to start a game!
  23. Hey everyone, Jake at the Brewers forwarded on a offer to me and said I could forward it on to anyone else. On Aug. 10th, Jake is having a promotion called Bowling Night where people can get Loge Outfield Field tickets and a Brewers Bowling towel for $17. Orginally it was only advertised in bowling lanes. He said he only has a few dozen tickets left for it and wanted to open it up to others. You can call him directly if you want to order or have any questions. His number is 414-902-4523. I'll be there so I hope to see some other Brewerfan.neters out there as well.
