  1. O! Ryan Braun! http://www.fangraphs.com/not/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Orion-Braun.jpg
  2. wow. who are these guys out of the bullpen stranding runners? i've never heard of such a concept.
  3. Totally not even caring at all or paying attention to it because it's not going to happen, but the Brewers are now only 6 back in the loss column for the last wild card spot.
  4. Too small of a sample size to make any real judgment.
  5. not even getting my hopes up in the least, but the brewers are only eight back in the loss column for the last wild card spot and it's still august.
  6. Aramis Ramirez is having a ridiculously under appreciated season. I'm all for putting him on the block in the off-season and trying to capitalize on 2012 (not sure what he'd fetch). I don't think anyone expected a career year from him. Hats off to Doug and the FO for that signing.
  7. I don't know where else to put this, but Aramis Ramirez is having a seriously awesome and largely under appreciated year. He already has his career high in doubles (40) and there is still 30 games or so left in the season. Worth every penny we are paying him this year and some. If you would have told me that the Brewers would get 10 WAR out of this contract, I would have been more than thrilled. So far he's already accumulated over 4 WAR. He likely won't be as good the next two years, but it'd be hard to imagine him falling completely off. All in all he has actually been worth more than Prince Fielder regardless of the difference in price tag. Nice get, Doug.
  8. Also, his plate discipline has improved. I doubt many realize that he strikes out at the same rate (19.6%) as Ryan Braun in 2012. His walk rate will likely never come around, but it won't matter as much if keeps slugging the ball rather than trying to be a contact hitter/speedster that everyone wants him to be.
  9. You mean other than him regressing and the contract turning into an albatross? As someone noted, even if his bat completely disappears he still has value as a plus-fielder and a baserunner. I think that scenario is improbable anyway given his career arc thus far. To me, it's worth the "risk" at 6.25m a pop.
  10. I am totally on board. People are overrating his fielding and baserunning, but underrating his emergence as an everyday hitter. I would not want to throw a contract at Gomez right this second, though if he continues to improve like he has over the course of his Brewer days, I think they should try and lock him up for a few years. There is little harm in offering Gomez 4/25 if he finishes with a .260/.310/.460. It'd be insane for him to say no to that and it will allow him another shot at a bigger contract at age ~30.
  11. John Axford ‏@JohnAxford This is absolutely inexplicable and bordering on insane. There are no excuses...and all I can promise is I will continue to fight.
  12. It's just what he does. Seriously. I understand why people are skeptical of prospects in general, & Mark specifically, but this guy is as legit a talent as you can get. I'm sold. I hope he gets a few more starts. I'd like to see him and Thornburg in the rotation, but that doesn't work with Wolf hanging around still. This would be a fun rotation until Marcum is available: Gallardo Estrada Fiers Rogers Thornburg
  13. Bryce Harper has seen an extremely low amount of fastballs so far in his young career and there is a very good reason for it. He has really struggled to hit a curveball. Now he's still only 19 so he'll have plenty of time to learn how to hit one, but that problem doesn't "go away" in scouting reports.
  14. The only players I definitely want to keep are Braun, Gallardo and Lucroy. There are a few other pieces that I'd like to keep around for sentimental purposes, but that's why fans aren't GMs. Though Hart and Ax are two of my favorite Brewers, they can be moved for the right price. Do us proud, Doug.
  15. That game was just, well, boring. Lot of Brewers fans at Citi as usual, so that was nice to see.
  16. Argh! I'm really going to be bummed if this gets rained out. This is the only trip to New York for the Crew in 2012. Was planning on hopping on the 7 train in an hour or so, but it's not looking good.
  17. Reminded me of the Friday night walk-off vs the Rockies last year in extras last May. I thought that game was a turning point for the season. Good win!
