  1. No, Roberts was safe by half a step. And the ump acting like he was going to call him safe probably didn't help matters much.
  2. Not to mention that he's usually too busy trying to find his ass with the two he does have. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. BILLY!!! http://www.hurn.com/lump/salami%20smile%20copy%20II.jpg
  4. Yeah, I have to stick up for Ned. I didn't have a problem with how he handled things last night. Yo looked good, and deserved a shot to complete the seventh, but the right decision was made to pull him after that walk. As for Kruk, what more can be said?
  5. Oops. Forgot Lowry threw left-handed. I'm a moron.
  6. I like that, too. I don't keep track of the lineup day-to-day typically, but I haven't noticed Jenkins hitting in front of Estrada lately. I'm not opposed, but wondering if it's happened in the last few weeks.
  7. Lineup predictions for tonight anyone? Hart rf Hardy ss Braun 3b Fielder 1b Hall cf Weeks 2b Estrada c Jenkins lf Gallardo p I know Braun's been hitting well, but what about putting Weeks in the 2-slot and bumping Braun down a bit? Or is that a move we save for a potential Braun slump?
  8. I don't know that I agree about the "necessary evil" part. I also don't know that I agree with the idea that everyone was "singing Suppan's praises" at any point. Frankly, while I was pleased with how he started, I never liked the signing much from a "helping the team win this year" standpoint. We're a contender, and Suppan's a big part of this team going anywhere. I'm not hoping he gets DFAed. I'm hoping he rights himself this summer, because he's been quite flat lately.
  9. Geez, even if you factor in seven starts for Bush/Suppan, I have a hard time believing that the boys will do worse than 9-10/10-9. I'm cool with just anything starting at 11-8. That seems reasonable to me. 49-39 at the break seems like a good place to be.
  10. Depending on your assessment of the rotation, most teams would wet themselves to have Dave Bush or Claudio Vargas as a fifth starter. That said, the Suppan signing doesn't look so good right now. Actually, it looks horrible right now. It strikes me as a signing that has more value as a message to future free agents that Milwaukee is serious about being a contender than it does a signing that's going to put the current team over the top.
  11. Yeah, you're right. We couldn't have used Villaneuva at all yesterday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  12. I'm betting that Spurling stays and Gwynn goes. We have a glut of outfielders, and Gwynn has one more at-bat in the last week than I do. They'll send him down and use the "Well, he has to play..." excuse. Personally, I wish we would have given him a shot as a DH instead of finding more playing time for Miller and Gross*. (I'll avoid ranting about Graffanino because he's generally been hitting pretty well lately, and my disdain for him is more about how useless he was for the first two months or so.)
  13. And if Gallardo goes seven innings tomorrow night, Yost looks pretty stupid. Normal for him, but still worth noting. That was ridiculous. It was obvious that our new Jeffery Hammonds didn't have it when he let a free swinger like Torii Hunter off the hook in the first. Then he got raked over the coals by Lew Ford. Before Ford could burn him again, he should have been yanked. Most of the eight balls to Mauer and Cuddyer to start the inning weren't even close, and then he grooved one for Ford, who's a really nice guy (fans love him there) but a generally awful hitter. I don't buy the "We have to save the 'pen for tomorrow" line, because you never know when your starter is going to get either shelled or hurt. By that philosophy, you should never go to the bullpen before the sixth inning unless you have two or three guys capable of pitching long stretches. To keep this short, two things are burning at me after another Yost job: 1. Suppan was left in at least two batters too long. 2. We have a gentleman in the bullpen whose sole job is to get left-handed hitters out. I'm not going to deny that I'm not a Brian Shouse fan, but that's what we pay him to do. He sat there while Chris Freaking Spurling pitched to one of the most dangerous left-handed hitters in the game. You can't even use the availability line, because it was pointed out during the broadcast Saturday that Shouse was available if needed. What were we saving him for? Mauer/Cuddyer/Morneau in the 12th inning? EDIT: You want positivity in the Vent Thread? Here...This team has great character. They truly are a bunch of battlers, and I couldn't be happier with the way they bounced back into that game after their starting pitcher and idiot manager combined to dig a seven-run hole. That was a superb effort, and my hat is tipped to the offense. In respect to the idea of not quitting and always scrapping, I think this team has taken on some of the good things about the manager's personality.
  14. Just turned on WGN and saw the replay. Anyone got it on YouTube yet?
  15. The extra point makes it 10-3, and I think I'll check out for the evening. I'll be enjoying the increased roar of the Brewer fans in attendance as the game winds down. Enjoy. We now have a winning streak...again. I think. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. Did you see "Flash" Estrada streak into third on that laser by Jenkins?
  17. Oh, I do totally agree with that. We've won three straight (in six outs, that is), and our fans are making plenty of noise in someone else's stadium. I'm happy. 1. Wouldn't be the first time that happened to a team. 2. You can say "piss" on this board? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif
  18. Shouse? Someone hold me. I'm scared, though at least he's off to a good start.
  19. I don't want to put the cart ahead of the horse Peavey, but I chuckled at this one. Nicely done.
  20. Atta boy, Prince. Thanks for the insurance. Fire up Capellan. Let's put this thing to bed.
  21. That pretty much makes up for every bad call the ump has made against us tonight. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Top of the order coming up in the seventh. Maybe we can tack on a couple more. Or maybe six more. Yeah, I'm greedy. Ned's on the phone. I don't think he's ordering a sandwich.
  23. 6-3 now. Good piece of hitting by Morneau. And now it's a save situation. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. Craig-- I was offering it up with the possibility that the Twins will close this thing to a save situation before the ninth.
  25. Let's just get him through six and see what it looks like. I'm not opposed to letting try to get through seven if he can avoid serious damage in the sixth. I'm assuming we'd like to avoid using Cordero tonight after he threw a few pitches yesterday, so that would leave Wise and Turnbow, along with Capellan. Right?
