  1. Estrada = Garbage Ridiculous. Pathetic. Inexcusable. Maddening. Did I mention that Estrada is garbage?
  2. It sure is nice to have solid veterans like Graffanino on the bench. You gotta love being able to call on them in key situations to give you quality at-bats. They'd certainly never take a fifth-grade swing at a hanging slider to ruin a promising inning. Nah. Never.
  3. Stop nibbling, Cappy. Now is not the time.

  6. I've heard him doing both baseball and NFL games on Fox. IIRC he called the Packers-Dolphins game last year.
  7. Sure, and as much as I like Vasgersian, Costas has more talent in his nostrils than Vasgersian has anywhere.
  8. ESPN Radio WILL cut into programming for Bonds' at-bats this weekend. I got that word from the network this afternoon.
  9. Sidney Ponson. If I were going to rip Terry Ryan for overspending on a pitcher, I'd look at that $3.5M he plunked down for Ramon Ortiz.
  10. Punto and Bartlett weren't the only problems in the Tiger series. Morneau left a small village on the basepaths in the second game, and the team generally couldn't score in a -- well, this is a family site, so use your imagination. The Twins need the pitching and defense to be practically impeccable every night if they're going to make a run, because they're about six guys short of having a good day-to-day lineup.
  11. My understanding is that ESPN can't move gametimes on less than two weeks notice. It might be more than that, but I'm pretty sure two weeks is the minimum. They do air Sunday afternoon games on the final day of the season, and they can go wherever they want for those, depending on what games are important in the pennant races. But I'm pretty sure they can't move the Brewers game to Sunday night on this kind of short notice.
  12. Good point, endaround. The one solace I'll take out of our pitching performances is that Capuano was pretty sharp last night as far as hitting his spots. He still nibbled a bit and got away with it last night, but it wasn't nearly as pronounced as previous starts.
  13. The negative to bunting there is that Arizona would have walked Miller to load the bases for Weeks. With how Weeks is hitting, I can actually understand why Ned didn't like that scenario.
  14. Well, they brought Ned back last night. Gee, thanks for that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  15. I can't agree with this. I don't care if we're in a pennant race or not. The major league rotation isn't the place to work through an injury. If Capuano is having troubles, he should be DLed and then sent on a rehab assignment. As for Yost, I've also noticed a different Ned since the All-Star break. It helps that he's pretty much pushed every right button, and that has some luck attached to it (just like there is luck attached to that stretch where you can't seem to do anything right).
  16. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't have a problem with the topic being brought up, and I also didn't have a problem with the first response to the original post. Of course, I took it in jest, which I might not have done had the post been directed towards me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Well, if ESPN had spent five minutes talking about the Brewers the way they spent three hours talking about the Cubs last night, I probably wouldn't be that annoyed with the Cub love. The closest they came to any Brewer love came in that St. Louis game, but since it was the day after Josh Hancock died, they spent more time making excuses for every little thing a St. Louis player did wrong that night.
  18. By the way, it doesn't feel right ripping Kruk, Phillips, Vina, Destrade, and whoever else is on BBTN without throwing a shot in at Sutcliffe. After his three-hour Cub love fest, I can't believe he'd ever be allowed to work a Cubs game again as long as he's at ESPN. But since ESPN doesn't care about such things, I'm sure he'll be right back out there. What's Steve Stone doing these days? I don't see many ESPN games, but I don't recall hearing him at all this season. He is another guy who has been on ESPN that can actually analyze baseball without saying incredibly dumb things.
  19. The groundswell of support for HR when he got fired was hilarious. The guy was barely tolerable, and that was only because he was surrounded by even bigger idiots. His only redeeming quality was the work he did on the College and Little League World Series. And if Hershiser's work in Omaha this year is any indication, we won't be missing HR much when the Little Leaguers fire it up later in the summer.
  20. The guys who should be on that show every night are Hershiser, Gammons, Kurkjian, Olney, and Stark. Hershiser is the only one of their regular game analysts that doesn't consistently suck at his job.
  21. If that was his philosophy, then where was all the Irrational Ray King Love in recent years? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Bingo. One game is six-tenths of one percent of a team's season. Even if you can successfully argue that division games are more important than other games, you'll have a hard time convincing me that they're even twice as important as the average game. That would make a division game worth about 1% of a team's season. Still not enough to be vitally important. You want important games every time a team takes the field? Watch college or professional football. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Great to have him back. For the first time in his broadcast career, he's going to spend an entire game saying nice things about the Brewers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. Well, no offense, but it wouldn't take much for him to be better than he was tonight. I'm pretty sure I've seen Carlos Silva pull that off, so yeah I think Capuano can. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif As for your other point, we'll agree to disagree, though I freely admit (again) that I could be wrong, because I'm not around here as often as I should be.
  25. Did you read my post, Brian? I clearly stated "the tone of this board". I wasn't making any specific statements about what anyone says. I was simply relaying to you what I sense around here when they pitch poorly. That's all. Wasn't meant as a shot to you or anyone in particular. In the end, I think Peavey nailed it a few pages back when he just said that Cappy might not be very good...or however he phrased it. Maybe we just need to face that.
