  1. The way I look at it, even Delmon "First Pitch Swinging" Young has learned to take the first pitch once in a while. It's unbelieveably disappointing to me that Hart can't figure out this concept. And Hall hasn't justified ten cents of that huge contract we gave him, so as far as I'm concerned, boo away. I think I'd be upset if they booed Gagne at this point, because he's actually worked pretty hard and been solid since the Break. But if they want to boo Hart and Hall, they can have at it as far as I'm concerned.
  2. I thought you were done reading my posts? I mean, I know we don't have an ignore button on Yuku, but it's really not that hard. If you see my name, skip to the next post. Either that, or stop complaining. It's kind of like how you shouldn't complain about who the President is if you choose not to vote in the election.
  3. I get the sense sometimes that guys are afraid to swing the bat, because nothing good is coming out of that. Instead, they go up there and take the first pitch. If that first pitch is a ball, they're going to probably keep taking until a strike is thrown. When I see Hardy look at a flat fastball right down the middle because it's 1-0, I'm reminded of this thought.
  4. You're absolutely right, and most of us will probably end up agreeing with this sentiment. If not immediately, we will after the smoke clears. However, the other side of this coin is that we had so many players underperform in a season where the owner and GM declared us "all-in" on multiple occasions. This doesn't bode well for the short-term future, because if we were "all-in" this year, then we're about to bust, and it's going to take some time to rebuild from here.
  5. I tried to. They have remarkable mental powers over me. It's kind of like how I couldn't turn away from the 106-loss team, only this team won a helluva lot more. In the end, though, I should have. Preseason hockey is much more exciting and less predictable, and Saturday it won't be preseason anymore.
  6. Cameron. Hall. Counsell. Parra. It's quite a competition. Riveting, actually.
  7. And Cameron gets another bad jump on a ball hit over his head. Why are we so awesomely sure to bring him back next year? Oh, crap. I'm being negative again... Wow. What a glorious effort to catch that ball. I wish it would have worked out for him!
  8. Unless we have a historically awesome off-season, I have a feeling it won't matter who the manager is next year. They're going to take a step back unless they find a way to get some better pitching.
  9. Jamie--- Your ability to continue posting after doing such damage to yourself is incredible. You're tougher than a hockey player!
  10. May I ask why? (Too bad if I can't, because I just did, I guess. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif) I'm not sure I could muster up the energy to cheer any of the three right about now. Maybe that doesn't automatically translate to booing, but I sure wouldn't be cheering.
  11. On the bright side, they do have a history of getting a pick-me-up by simply coming home. Plus, we have Dave Bush pitching Saturday. What could possibly go wrong?
  12. If someone offered me free tickets and paid for my transportation and a hotel room, I still wouldn't go. No way.
  13. I probably wouldn't have had a problem with it if Myers hadn't gotten a bunch of borderline calls himself after throwing more balls than strikes in the first inning.
  14. I'm not watching, but I will guarantee you that two of the four pitches that were called balls to Myers were already called strikes when Myers was pitching, and one of them was called a strike in the top of the next inning. I don't know if they were really strikes or not, but the floating zone the first two games has been embarrassing to watch.
  15. I think we can pay the guy a bit bigger compliment than that, no matter how crappy a day this is. I mean, my six-year-old is probably a better fielder than Weeks and Hall, and he doesn't even own a glove.
  16. Hey, if they only got four strikes to work with, Myers would have been punched out and the slam never would have happened because the inning would have been over.
  17. About as fair as it is to call Barry Bonds one.
  18. The same thing happened yesterday. The difference is that Cole Hamels could have played the whole game with a strike zone the size of a piece of toilet paper and it wouldn't have mattered much. The fact that Brett Myers, who threw more balls than strikes in the first inning, is getting these calls...well, let's just say that I'm not watching anymore. I'd like my television to not have things thrown through it.
  19. Ball one and ball four were strikes, especially ball one (or two...I guess I can't keep track in my head). I'd normally agree with you, but when someone throws six strikes in one at-bat, and only two pitches are hit foul, they should probably get credit for a strikeout at some point. Ultimately, the complete uselessness of Corey Hart and whoever the moron is that keeps putting him in the lineup can take some blame for this, too. But Mark Wegner is a piece of trash.
  20. Well two of the called balls to Myers were absolutely strikes. Is that Sabathia's fault, too? He should have been out of the inning before Rollins even trotted into the batters box.
  21. This oughta make you throw up in your mouth a little: That was John Kruk saying that.
  22. It's hard not to walk people when you're throwing pitches in the exact spot your opponent is, and they're called differently for you.
  23. Oddly, that last ball to Burrell was a strike when Hamels threw it to Braun in the first.
