  1. Just an FYI, That has adamantly been said by Braun's camp since Saturday. (and is still being said FWIW) Edit: To answer your other question, I believe I read he was informed during the St. Louis series.
  2. As little benefit as Braun might have, MLB would have far less benefit. LAST thing in the world they want right now is one of their young stars turning up a positive test - it brings into question the entire drug testing system that has been in place in the minors. I find it far more likely that it came from Braun's camp, especially considering his camp is still the one doing all the chattering right now - MLB has been silent this whole time.
  3. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. If you take a step back, that seems a lot more likely considering MLB has never leaked one before.
  4. Let's get higuera in here too, he's been away for a while but the move to the NL should help.
  5. Why do people at certain professions have a higher level of suicide? or substance abuse? To immediately suggest that the ONLY reason MLB players have a higher % of ADHD diagnosis than that of the gen. pop. is that MLB players are using it to gain a competitive advantage is a pretty big stretch. Maybe I should have phrased it this way: How many people in the general population have access the medical care that MLB players get? There are a TON of variables at play there and suggesting it is solely for performance enhancement is......... well, just flat out wrong imo. Baseball is an intense game which requires a high level of commitment and focus to excel at - it would not surprise me in the least bit if the higher % was simply a natural occurrence.
  6. The time to get Furcal was at the trade deadline last year when he could have been had for a middling prospect. That said, I like the Gonzalez signing more than this heading into next season - he's too fragile to count on over the course of a season and might be an injury away from retirement based on his comments the last time he got hurt.
  7. How many people in the general population can hit a 98 MPH fastball?
  8. How many players hit 50 HR's pre 1990 and then after? Why is it hard to believe that steroid use blew up within a 12 month period? In fact, that seems very, very likely rather than a general progression of players starting to use. Not gonna get into a debate over juiced ball or juiced players. There is a ton of evidence to support the latter, not so much on the juiced ball theory.
  9. From Rotoworld,, pretty good summary: Ryan Braun's testosterone levels during his failed drug test were "insanely high, the highest ever for anyone who has ever taken a test, twice the level of the highest test ever taken," a source told Teri Thompson of the New York Daily News. Braun told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Saturday that he's "completely innocent" of the PED charge, claiming the test results were a false positive. Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan spoke to an expert that said false positives results are almost impossible using MLB's carbon-isotope-ratio test. Thompson's source, however, said Braun's case involves "highly unusual circumstances." Braun will probably enlist doctors and health experts in appealing his 50-game suspension, but players are 0-for-13 against Major League Baseball in PED test appeals. While his test results are highly unusual, enough so to potentially call into question the test results, Braun has very little chance of winning the appeal.
  10. If PED's don't help improve player performance, explain the glut of HR's from the late 80's to early 2000's when PED abuse ran rampant through MLB.
  11. I'd have to disagree here. He's once again late to the party and only getting sound bites cause he's the local guy.
  12. Your right, they didn't say he failed a test - they said he didn't intentional violate any program. It sure looks like they are setting things up to play the negligence card - I hope that Braun is innocent as much as the next Brewer fan, but as I've said from the beginning....... when you take the fandom out, it initially does not look good for Braun.
  13. Because Brewer fans want someone to blame other than Ryan Braun right now
  14. That tweet is pretty awesome - AZ is going to be tough, like that trade for them.
  15. His camp admitted it........ what more do you want? Do you also think oj is innocent? I haven't vilified at all. He failed the whole test, testosterone level was high the first run through - then the 2nd run, they tested to see if it was natural. It was not. Unless Braun has video of TLR taking advantage of him with bright lights and wine.................. my point is, he better have inconclusive proof as to why he failed the test.
  16. Huh? Not sure where you are even going with the authority thing. To be caught by MLB, one has to fail a drug test...... he did. He's got an excuse and a clean 2nd test taken at a later date, doesn't look like a good defense. MLB isn't speaking because it's going through the legal process, this is normal. If I take the fandom out, it doesn't look good........ The facts at this point are that Braun has a positive test and that MLB is currently reviewing his case to determine if he will be suspended 50 games. It comes down to whether you believe Braun or not and at this point, we don't even know his defense because he says he can't speak on that matter at this moment because of the pending legal matter. There is no rumor mill people, Braun's camp confirmed the positive test - Braun claims he can't defend himself publicly because of the ongoing legal process. All we can do is wait and see this point, MLB will makes it's decision and then Braun will speak publicly. The only group sensationalizing anything is the ones getting up in arms at ESPN for simply reporting what they found out - I dislike ESPN as much as the next guy, but they've done nothing wrong here.
  17. It's a fact that he failed a test - someone from Braun's camp already confirmed it.
  18. There are some really comical over the top homer comments going on in this thread.............. sue ESPN?!?!? I get how huge this is, but take a step back............... anyone think you'd see pictures of Lawrie with a 40oz bottle of booze duct taped to his hand surface around a year ago? These guys are human, and even good people make bad decisions.
  19. Far different feeling from landing Marcum roughly a year ago.
  20. No, that's not really important. I doubt he took the tests back to back and the testosterone in the first test was synthetic. All it is, is Bruan's defense - and pretty weak if you ask me - every big star that has been caught has an immediate defense that sounds somewhat plausible...... but given time it comes unraveled. Time will tell with Braun.
  21. I have to disagree on that logic, McGehee has pretty much no value now where as a year ago he definitely had some value and could have netted something worthwhile..... don't see how anyone could say he has about the same value as last year. No, he was never going to net a top prospect, but there is no question he was a very valuable asset around 12 months ago and had far more value then he has now.
  22. Wonder if the Red Sox would be interested and if they are still interested in moving Youkilis
  23. Doesn't seem like there is a lot of interest in Ramirez outside of the Brewers.
  24. Any chance the Angels might be interested in a K-Rod reunion? They've got 3 first baseman now.....
