Does this mean he won't be working with Brewer's system catchers anymore? Because if so that'd stink seeing as how he was a catcher whisperer.

The close to home convenience is overblown. He's not going home on Monday night, Tuesday night. Maybe after a Wednesday day game. But living in Milwaukee during the season, you'll get a few hours at home a week. Not much different than NYC.

So Counsell's family has had a connection to the Brewers for...40 years? Grew up here? He absolutely knows what this move means. Go to the Mets or Guardians and ask for a counter to the Cubs! Mets had to have gotten close to the Cubs figure. Maybe Stearns told Cohen it's not worth it, hopefully he's right. This was a close knife of betrayal.

I now have two avenues to happiness next baseball season: 1. A good Brewers season 2. A bad Cubs season. Seeing Counsell not make the playoffs or getting knocked out will be mana from heaven. That guy can piss off.

This is the biggest heel turn I've ever experienced. Anyone playing devil's advocate for Counsell needs to stay away for a few days. Use your brain and realize how obviously a betrayal this is.

Let's continue this vicious cycle and forget our woes. Roster next year: P: Woody (very team friendly extension), Burners (lose him for nothing after season for last shot), Peralta, Rea, Miley (getting old but maybe), Houser, Uribe, Payamps, Peguero, Megill, Williams, Milner, Wilson C: Contreras and Caratini 1st: NEED 2nd: Black or Turang SS: Turang or NEED 3rd: NEED and Monasterio OF: Yelich, Taylor, Chourio, ONE of Mitchell, Weimer and Frelick (very concerning end of year for Frelick as someone with elite hit tool) DH: NEED LET GO Tellez Santana (Too old) Donaldson (Too old and ineffective) Adames (too many holes in swing, too expensive for production) Winker (obviously) So huge holes all over the diamond. I expect a creative trade from Arnold to fill either 3rd base, SS or 1st base. DH free agent. Lot of interesting pieces in the minors.

But, diamondbacks, if they win, would be one game up on cubs going into Sunday. If cubs win again and dbacks lose wouldn't they be tied?

So Marlins clinch with a win. Looks like Reds are going to lose so they're eliminated. If Cubs win and Diamondbacks lose, Cubs would be one back with one to play? Do I have that right? Anyone know who has tiebreaker? Could we still end up with the stupid Cubs??

I'll be so insanely anxious if we play the Cubs in Wildcard round. I'll be so disappointed too. I was going to go to one game and being overrun with bleeping Cubs fans will be miserable. Not sure I can do it.

Prior to this story, my thought was he may step away for a few years and the smart move would be to move Pat Murphy up to manager. Either Pat Murphy does well and earns his own team or he graciously steps aside for Counsell's return in a couple of years.
