  1. No.......Alcides's command of English is very good. I've talked with him a few times. Besides with guys like Yo on the team you have guys that can help better translate if need be..... and many of the Coaches spend time south of the boarder with winter ball they can hold there own.
  2. Did I miss something..? You write this like the Brewers have already said Mark was starting in AAA. I've seen nothing of the sort or heard anything different to say he will get a solid offer to the Brewers for next spring. Now.. that being said, I'd be thrilled to get more then the 5 mins I had this summer to talk with him during his one night stay with the Sounds.
  3. Well, I can't say I saw him... but I sure heard a lot about him. My long time friend from Maine was calling me in 2000-2001 saying " you need to fly home and see this kid pitch " My friend knows Mark's Dad and his High School Coach. Mark grew up just a mile down the road from my parents and we're both Alum of Mt. Ararat School....so yea.. I'll be watching this Friday night. I had the chance to meet Mark during his brief stay in Nashville this summer and I think it floored him to meet someone just a stones throw from where he grew up. Many may not know but Mark was also quite he hockey player too and a few thought with NHL potential. Well during warm up's Mark walked over to get a few baseballs out of the ball-bag when a young fan asked if he was " A hitter..? " The pitching coach replayed " No.. He's a pitcher".. I chimed in and added " I don't know....does hockey count..?" Mark looked at me, grinned and said " Ooooh Yea...!!!
  4. The Brewers have made it pretty clear that without a new stadium in the works in Nashville they will pull out at the end of the 2010 season. The season closes tonight and no new stadium is forecast anytime soon. So my question.. Where do you think they'll go...? Do you think the Sounds will cut a deal for them to stay....? Any thoughts...?
  5. I'm interested to see what they'll do with Mark now...? Leave him in Huntsville till Sept call-up's....then..? move him up to Nashville, move him up to Milwaukee.? or just move him to Nashville now.
  6. I got to see all the way up to the Family Day segment because I had to go to work..!! Pretty cool to see so many of the faces I've seen and talked with here in Nashville. Need to see when it's on again and watch the whole thing.
  7. What is it... 40-50 games played in minors to be able to play a position in the majors...?
  8. These comments are coming from people that have watched both players play in almost every game over the last 2-3 years.
  9. For sure on that. I was never and have never been a big Gamel fan. He always looks like he's in a fog. I've seen him make mistakes that I learned not to make in Little League...and heard Don Money mumble under his breath about them. Many times I've had the talk with the fans around me. We would all take Adam Heether over Mat Gamel. Heether is a scrappy, get down in the dirt, work the pitch count up type player. He gets the hit, sac fly and Home Run when you needed it. I know the Brewers had their money on Gamel, but dang Heether was on a tear this year when he was optioned. Don't hold your breath on that one....
  10. Yea... a little shocked Mark has not been back to Nashville since his 48 hour visit a few months back
  11. Maybe they'll just hold Lorenzo Cain until this weekend. I'm hearing LayTroy Hawkins will finish up his Rehab by then, so that will free up a spot.
  12. Thanks.. but what I'd like to know is why is our ying and yang in sync with the Brewers these last two night...?? We got slammed by the Topes second night in a row. Favorite beer lady at Greer..?? Carol.. right behind home plate. She has a portable stand, but I've only bought from her these last 4 years... best hot dog..? To Carols right.. Steve..!!
  13. I don't see it listed on either MLB Net or ESPN on Sunday..?
  14. LaTroy Hawkins will be done with his rehab by then and back with the Brewers. DiFelice has never been here this year. Luis Cruz and Ray Olmedo are fun to watch play. Both cover the infield very well. Brendan Katin and Joe Koshanski are the big sticks and can hit some towering home runs. Mat Gamel.. sorry, not a big fan of him. Lorenzo Cain might be back then as they'll need to do something with him when Yo comes back on Thursday. Try and get a game that Chase Wright is throwing. He's been throwing very well his last few outings. Keep in mind.. Greer is old and worn out.. but few bad seats in the house. My seats are right near the Sounds dug-out, but the last few games I've hung with the guys in the bull pen. I know a lot of the players, so we have some pretty good conversations. They charge $3 for parking.. unless you get a spot on the street. Any question let me know.. 4 year season ticket holder............
  15. Yea... a shame he could not stay. Trent was really in a groove and seeing and hitting the ball well this last month plus. I didn't know about the 'out clause' and felt with the way he was playing he'd a get a Sept call-up if that play continued.
  16. I'm going to say yes... Think back just over a month ago he was catching: John Axford, Zach Braddock, Kameron Loe here in Nashville. He knows them.. they know him.
  17. Mass... Needless to say I'm excited about Mark's promotion and can't wait to get out to the ball park tonight. I remember my friend from Maine calling saying "You have got to come home and see this kid pitch...!!"
  18. In the short time I got to know Chris.. I'd agree.
  19. I really hope Mark gets to throw again. He is THE NICEST GUY..!! I got to know him while he was here in Nashville and he always took the time to stop and talk before the games. His last year here right before the Sept 1 call ups my girlfriend and the lady that sits next to us sang him Happy Birthday. He was sooo red.. but loved every minute of it.
  20. If you liked last night... you'll need to play tonight's call. Bottom of the 9th.. 3-2 Cubs...2 Out... 2 On... Joe Ko at bat with a 2-2 count... YUP.. TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW...!!!! Crack...Bye-Bye...!!!
  21. First, welcome back Drew. I always liked him and was always warm with the fans.... Now, a funny note. Someone was asking about Drew last home stand. I told them Drew hand not been in Nashville since 2007, with a brief return last year. They told me they were from Nebraska and wanted to say Hello.. Kind of odd I do say........
  22. Hey Coach32.. Pass along my best to Angle. I actually talk often with him before the games here in Nashville. Tell him his friends on the 3rd base side near the dug-out give him our best. I miss my fist bump and 'fireworks' before first pitch at the games...
  23. It's very poor and has been for a few games. I'm actually listening to the game on the Zepher's station. Crystal clear....
  24. Weather wise... as a season ticket holder over the last 4 years I think I've seen no more then 4 games games rained out. As far as moving players around we have non-stop flights to MKE....and Huntsville is a short drive south
  25. I think people are confused because he was put on the inactive list for the birth of his child, then returned, and is now apparently back on the list. That was because his child was not born during the first visit and he had to return to the team. Sometimes those babies have a schedule of their own.
