For sure on that. Stan is a great guy and a friend. His last year here in Nashville he lived right next door to me in my apartment building. My girlfriend and I had him over for dinner several times...and often after a weekend game he would stop by and we'd watch a little MLB inDemand, enjoy a cold beer and talk a little baseball.
Yea.. I was a little let down Mark Rogers did not get the call to Nashville to start the year, but my fingers are crossed that he makes it up here some time this year. Mark and I went to the same High School, be it 20 years apart for graduation.. and he grew up just down the road from me. His dad and a long time friend grew up together and hug out, so it will be fun to cheer for a player with a hometown connection.
I'm into my 5th year as a full season ticket holder and I'm not holding my breath. I really feel the ship sailed 6 to 8 years ago on getting a new downtown stadium. There is NO parking downtown Nashville and even less with now with a new Convention Center being built. The new ownership did nothing last year to introduce them self to the fan base and from what I see this year has done far less this year.
Yup.. it was a fun season. I missed only two games all year. One game to go to Atlanta to watch the Braves - Brewers series... and once because of a bad cold. I was a little shocked when Mat Gamel walked away with the 2009 Fan Vote for MVP at the final home game. He was gone for several months while with the Brewers and after his return did not set anything on fire. My vote was for the solid Adam Heether.
Well... just home after an OUTSTANDING win....... Way to go Corey..!! Great extra innings pitching from Chris Smith and John Axford and the entire team for never giving up.
The one thing you don't want to do is get these guys hurt late in the year. They've both had great seasons.. Let them rest up.. play a little AZ ball, enjoy the off season and get ready for 2010.
LoL.. The trivia question at the stadium last night.. " Which Nashville Sound has played the most positions this year..?" Answer.. Adam Heether.. SEVEN...!! 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, RF, LF, P
Yea, it was a great pitchers duel. I'm really happy for Lindsay Gulin. During his last outing he was off and it showed, but last night OMG...!!! Lindsay is not noted for his speed.. but he had the Round Rock batters swatting at Lightening Bugs most all of the night. I think it was during the 4th he might have thrown just 4 or 5 pitches and was out of the inning... Just days after being named Brewers Player of the Month for June, Adam Heether drove his 10th home run over the fence scoring 3 runs and drove his batting average even closer to the top of all the Minor League.
They still need to look long term. Yea Mark may be saying he feels good... and very well might..... but all it takes is one 'twang' and you're back to square one all over again. I think you see them put 3 or 4 good outings under his belt before they push him to go longer. Trust me... I'd love to see Mark up here in Nashville. We both grew up in the same small town in Maine, he grew up just down the road from me and both went to the same High School.
Adam went to Huntsville by choice. He was warming the bench and getting no AB's with Mat Gamel and Alcides Escobar playing. He went down for a few weeks got his AB's in, came back and has been on a tear ever since. I'm so-so happy for him. As a Sounds season ticket holder he's one of the guys I've gotten know. We talk before most every game and I really see a change between last year and this year...and between pre Huntsville and post Huntsville this year.
Just home from the Sounds game. Chase Wright pitched outstanding...!! 6 innings, 3 hits and only 1 walk. He was feeling good and pumped too... Walking off the mound in the 6th he motioned to the guys in the bullpen to 'Go Sit Down'...and continued a few minutes into the dug-out. After a talk with Chris Bosio Chase was done for the day. RJ Swindle, David Johnson and Chris Smith continued the shut out.. the teams second in a row.
Yea, BK is is in quite a groove, but I gotta tell you his HR a few weeks back OVER the CMT sign on TOP of the score board was impressive. If I knew how to post my own photos I got a great contact picture just as ahe hit the second HR today...
Vinny was given a choice.... stay in Nashville and warm the bench with Carlos and Angel doing the plate, or go to Huntsville and play everyday. In Nashville he would be limited to Catcher, but in Huntsville he could work as a Utility player.
Cole is warming up at the plate, be it slow... but his defense is making up for it. He's made several nice grabs over the last few nights including one two nights back where he ended up soaking wet after all the rain we've had here in Nashville. I got to tell you, his splash was impressive..!!
