  1. Where did Axford come from? Joe Thatcher should probably be in that bullpen too.
  2. If hypothetically we were looking at giving Prince 6/120 (under the premise that he'd accept that)...I'd much rather sign Jimmy Rollins and Aramis Ramirez for a total of around 4/80. Whether we do something like this with the money we save or not, it's obvious that it'd be much smarter to simply let Prince walk and move on with our offseason.
  3. Pingman you're a Brave fan. Why do you even come here?
  4. Actually neither. Just asking. Thought Green could be a sell high and Drabek could be a buy low. I guess we would have to add some.
  5. I think he has three good seasons and one ok season. I'll take that for 4/48.
  6. Rollins will get four years and if it averages twelve million per year, its a team friendly deal.
  7. Part of me is thinking our plan B involves signing both Jimmy Rollins and Aramis Ramirez with the money that we offer Prince. I can especially see Ramirez coming here if Prince signs with the Cubs. Toronto needs a 2b and Green is a Canadian that can play there. Which side do you think says no to a Green for Drabek swap?
  8. If it took only 4/48 for Rollins, Doug would have done that yesterday. Heck, he'd probably give Rollins his desired fifth year at 5/60 if that is all it took.
  9. Signing either guy will no longer cost us any draft pick. Count me as a guy that wants to sign one of them now and either trade Corey or move him to 1b.
  10. If we want an ex-Brewer to set-up for us, let's just sign Scott Linebrink.
  11. We should make Axford a starter and go and sign Cordero.
  12. 6/120. Let him sucker us for one extra year at 20 million from our original offer so he has the pride of "winning".
  13. We can hopefully get Furcal for around what Barmes got. Or give me Jed Lowrie in small trade.
  14. I want Lowrie from Boston and also Mike Bowden too. Hopefully we have a lesser trade match to get those two...
  15. The Nats are about to overpay Oswalt as their big signing. Ozzie and Miami is going to sign Buehrle soon and then Ozzie wants Fielder or Pujols. SF is not going to have the money to spend from what I've read. The Mets should go with Tejada at SS and I think Alderson knows that. I'd say we are sitting pretty good with Reyes. And I think it's a smart signing for us, as I believe signing him means we'll go with Green and Gamel at first and third (which is imperative if we want to build a longer term winner).
  16. The Pirates should just go with Derrick Lee. Otherwise. we should gladly take him.
  17. Just wondering on this. Are the free agents that are DH's unable to play 1B? Or were they just a DH because their AL team had a better option at 1B. I am wondering aloud if Ortiz, Guererro, etc could play 1B if Melvin absolutely is against Gamel being his starter.
  18. If I'm the Mets, I go with Tejada as SS anyway. He's gonna be a good one. And he's cheap. It'd be dumb to throw whatever money they have to spend at resigning Reyes.
  19. Braves would probably looks at Gindl and Schaefer or Gindl and Green for Jurjjens. Not sure we want to go there, but we really should trade one of Schaefer/Gomez/Morgan, as it's an opportunity to "sell high" for each.
  20. Obviously. Thought it might be worth discussing in early November. Guess not.
  21. Phillies fans on MLBTR seem to like Casey. I would love to get Dominic Brown in some sort of package with them (we'd have to give up more than McGehee).
  22. I don't think it's that we didn't think he'd be good enough defensively at 3B. At least I never say anything on that. I think we decided (or maybe even he decided) that catcher was the wrong position for him. I don't recall reading where we doubted him playing any other position.
  23. I knew about his splits Bruce. I'd prefer to just give him first base and let him play vs lhp and rhp. However, one thing I want on our team that we didn't have this past year is power on the bench and someone that can more or less be a starter at 1B or corner OF in case of injury or bad play. We didn't really have that to my liking with Kotsay this year. To get a guy like a Derrick Lee (my preference) however, we'd have to give the guy some PT. Maybe not a strict platoon, but some sort of platoon. Can Lee play corner OF in a pinch (like once a week in a Ned Yost Sunday Matinee Lineup)?
  24. I agree on Reyes if the price is right. After that, try and get Jed Lowrie from the Red Sox. They don't need him and it probably wouldn't cost a ton to get him. Maybe a bullpen arm like McClendon. Lowrie is much ahead of the others from that list in my book. If those two fail, try and work a trade with the Whitesox for Ramirez or Escobar. If that fails, try and work a trade for Ian Desmond of the Nationals. He's a great buy low opportunity. If that fails, then we can sign everyone's savior: Clint Barmes.
