  1. Final: Wisconsin 4, Peoria (Cubs) 3 Wisconsin Box Score The Wisconsin let the game get pretty exciting in the 9th but came through to pull out another victory today. David Goforth had a solid start going 4IP 4H 2ER 2BB 3K 1HR. Not sure how much I like the move of stretching Goforth out. The power pitcher has only 4 k’s in his first 9 IP after racking up 42k’s in 40.2IP as a reliever last year with Helena. With that said the reports about him sitting in the mid 90's and touching 98mph is very impressive. Chad Pierce the Fond du Lac native had another impressive outing in his “homecoming” debut. He went 4IP 2H 0R 2BB 5K. Referred to as a bulldog on the mound, Pierce has allowed 3H 4BB 0R while racking 10k’s in his first 7IP. Seth Harvey entered the game with the save opportunity in the 9th and got the first two batters out before a walk, line drive, and groundball single tied the game. He got out of the inning with no further damage and picked up the BS & W. Offensively the T-Rats did most of their damage coming off two first inning doubles by Jason Rogers and Ben McMahan, and a RBI groundout by Rafael Neda. Then the 9th inning fireworks came after a two out single by Yadiel Rivera followed by the walk-off double by John Dishon to win the game! Yadiel Rivera was the only T-Rat with multiple hits (2-4). Greg Hopkins and Carlos George were the only other T-Rats to record a hit. Play by Play Big First Inning Wisconsin Bottom of the 1st •Chadwin Stang hit by pitch. •Brandon Macias grounds out, third baseman Wes Darvill to first baseman Paul Hoilman. Chadwin Stang to 2nd. •Jason Rogers hits a ground-rule double (2) on a fly ball to right field. Chadwin Stang scores. •Gregory Hopkins hit by pitch. •Benjamin McMahan doubles (3) on a line drive to left fielder Taiwan Easterling. Jason Rogers scores. Gregory Hopkins to 3rd. •Rafael Neda grounds out, shortstop Marco Hernandez to first baseman Paul Hoilman. Gregory Hopkins scores. Benjamin McMahan to 3rd. • Carlos George grounds out, second baseman Zeke DeVoss to first baseman Paul Hoilman Game Winning 9th Inning Wisconsin Bottom of the 9th Rafael Neda grounds out, pitcher Kyler Burke to first baseman Paul Hoilman. Carlos George flies out to left fielder Taiwan Easterling. Yadiel Rivera singles on a ground ball to left fielder Taiwan Easterling. John Dishon doubles (2) on a line drive to center fielder Pin-Chieh Chen. Yadiel Rivera scores.
  2. I feel very strongly that he will debut in Helena as they did with Escobar. Spring Training he was an everyday starter from A to AAA while almost all the other rookie kids stayed in the rookie camps. Not only did he start everyday, he more than handled himself. If Rivera was to get injuried, I could see him doing what Rivera did last year. I feel his bat could adjust way more than Yadiel's. He has way more plate disipline and makes a lot of contact (Rivera has a mile long swing). I think a lot depends on the draft this year. If they draft a college SS in the top 10 rounds I highly doubt they would send him to Arizona and Arcia to Helena, however if they drafted a HS SS early, that kid would prob go to Arizona wile Arcia jumps to Helena Eighter way he will be in Wisconsin in 2013 at 18 and be the everyday, then hopefully Huntsville by 2015 at 20, and Majors to start 2017 at 22. That would be the idea plan and about the same as Escobar's path. With Rivera one step ahead, hard to see him making to many mid-season jumps unless Rivera is as well.
  3. Not really performanced based completely, both are older at 23 and 24, Walla and Ramirez will be back around May. Both have had plenty of A ball at bats, and both are more advanced bats. Really no need to be in Wisconsin. Stang is as good (with more explosive bat) as any OF in BC and Rogers would be a great power DH/ back-up 1B for them. I have mentioned it before, BC's offensive is less than exciting, filled with grity low ceiling, hard working guys. Which is great and all but I am a fan of Stangs potential when healthy and love Rogers power. Think it could just give them a tiny boost.
  4. Appears Khris Davis has adjusted to AA pitching, starting hot! Hunter & Scooter starting to get rolling as well! Wonder how long Stang and Rogers will be hanging aroung in Wisconsin. My guess is not to long.
  5. For any other Chad Pierce fans, He will be making his home debut on Saturday for anyone who wants to stop out and see him pitch.
  6. Hard to find a Brewer pitching prospect who has pitched better than Jimmy Nelson has since last July/August. Ended the season hot and has picked up right where he left off. Thorny is right there as well. If he keeps this up, he could promote before Taylor or Jed
  7. Yadi Rivera off to fast start, 2k already after one game. Hit has potential but wow he has some major holes in that long swing...
  8. Like usual, with nearly every manager in history of baseball, half the fans are always looking for every single reason to fire the manager, the other half is trying to defend why the manager is good. Some people naturally are the more negitive, nit pick, FIRE HIM type of fan. It doesn't matter the good or the bad that they do, they will find a reason to want him fired. (just try reading jsonline forum.....) he bunted in this situation, he brought this guy in in this situation, he played this guy or he is just an idiot!FIRE HIM. There are some things that are more important than the few mistakes here and there throughout a 162 game schedule. He may not be a mad scientist like TRL but with talent teams like the crew, you don't need to be. What he does have the abiity to do is to communicate, relate, and gain respect of every player in the locker room. That is INTANGABLE. He gets the players to go out there and play hard and finds creative ways to try to produce runs that are much more exciting to watch as a fan. I'd take his mangerial style 110 out 100 if I could over Ken Macha's moneyball, none agressive way of basball. Just look at Greinke, he is not an easy guy to manage or to get to trust you and earn his respect. Now it appears that RRR may be one of the biggest reasons he'd stay in Milwaukee. Players love guy. Fans are always the best manager in the world but every manager no matter how great in the MLB will make decisions that fans will disagree with and nag about. There is only so much a manager can do. Players hold almost all the cards on how the team performs. He had a few errors in strategy but it was his first year and that will happen. The Cards will see a bunch of that as well this season. Overall I think what he offers far outweighs what he lacks and I see the Brewers being just as competitive. Strategy should improve now that he has a year under belt. Most important is how healthy they stay.
  9. Allison, Cravy, Dennis, Lasker, Paciorek, Richardson, Ruiz, and Stosh all really give my questions. Cravy- Big live arm, ranks up Ks Dennis- has always been a guy with upside Lasker-had his struggles but still young and has a great name Paciorek-was lookin good last season D'Vo--most overall talented athlete imo in system Stosh-was a beast last season and is young Ruiz-guy has a talented arm no doubt, just needs to find zone wonder if its injuries or what with these guys
  10. The nice thing though is while they are not big prospects, they are all fisty guys who want to win. Guys like Keen, Middlestadt, Vuchinich, Shaw. I think there style of play with walking, slap hitting, liner and etc fair very well for the league. Hopefully Kreiger will give a punch (guy kills the ball) Velazquez I will follow closely. Walker and Hawn have to perform well though. They are the heart of the lineup that will make it work
  11. He actually made a really impressive come back last year consider what he had all been through over the previous couple of years. It was very encouraging. Hope he keeps his confidence going, all pressure is off in that loaded pitching staff. He just needs to be confident in what he does, that has been his biggest issue I think
  12. Really exciting pitching this season in BC, offense isn't too great but we'll see what Velazquez can do and see if Hawn or Walker can become a prospect
  13. No Ozuna! ughhh I was really pulling for him to make the jump.
  14. Dissappointed on the Scarpetta front. I see no good reason as to why he was held back Plus side, happy to see Sean Halton make the roster and Hainley Statia. Surprised they only went with 3 OF's, Maysonet played some OF this spring, he may play the 4th OF if needed.
  15. I love the DSL and will gladly pick that up Can fill in where needed after that
  16. Hope they don't send Scarpetta back to Huntsville. He walk too many guys but in no way should he forced to repeat for it. Overall his numbers were pretty solid and deserving of the promotion. Mix in that he was just granted an extra option year, they should trying to get him ready to compete for a spot in 2013. Big talent to let slip away. Not a guy who can just slip unnoticed in waivers. I also forgot Merklinger, he should be another guy over Butler and McClung.
  17. Wow, talk about the most uninspiring rotation......Could have Peralta, Fiers, Rogers, Rivas, Scarpetta making every night a near must check the box score to see how they did rotation. Instead, we get two prospects, one unknown to system, one washed up major leaguer, and one career AAA SP. I have never liked Butler or thought anymore of him that a okay AAA pitcher (not even AAAA pitcher).Do we really need McClung starting? You'd think the pen would be his only way back to bigs. Not sure about Baker as a prospect, dont know much about him to be honest, hope for good things. Hopefully the rotaton ends up the way it should unless they have officially moved Rivas, Rogers, and Scarpetta to the bullpen (which I actually think fits Scarpetta and Rogers better)
  18. While not posted on twitter RHP Chad Pierce will be returning back to the Fox Valley to play baseball! Will break camp with Wisconsin Timberrattlers. (facebook) Good storyline, two record setting FVA players will be together (Manager Matt Erickson went to Appleton West, Pierce Fond du Lac).
  19. RHP Bradley Blanks -- Huntsville
  20. How do you get the box scores if you dont mind me asking? You know someone with the team or are they posted somewhere?
  21. They did it with Alcides at 17.... Love the mention of Kenny Allison! I got to see him play and i cant stop thinking Lo Cain. A stretch but kid has talent
  22. I was hoping they'd bring him state side but I was expecting him to be with all the other guys who come over and the young drafted kids in rookie instruction. No way did I see him at 17 coming over bypassing all the rookie games and being an everyday starter for Wisconsin through Nashville and performing well! If it was not for Rivera, after the way they have been aggressive with him, it would have not shocked me for him to start in Wisconsin. With Rivera there and needing to play everyday, I think he starts at Helena but is the first call him Rivera has to miss time. I'm really excited for this season. We have a lot of young talent that can really start to breakout. That big 09' wave is hitting AA which is the shining moment to become prospects. Our rookie teams are fully loaded with young high school players with potential. Ramirez and Walla injuries hurt but excited for when they come back and are in Wisconsin. Rivera and Arcia can finally start to give us some real SS hope. We actually are pitcher prospect heavy in the first time in how long? I'm pumped! I do not think this is the 26th best milb system and hopefully they breakout and prove it
  23. lol, thats fine Mass, you do so much for this site (even when in retirement!) its unreal. Just grateful with how much you have done this Spring Training after you were going to step away a bit. ST coverage wouldn't be the same.
