  1. He does a great job, Krause Sports and Four Seam Images are my two favorites to check out for minor league pictures. From the few pictures I saw last year of Arcia, wow he has started to grow nicely. Looks like he is a bit taller and has started to add some meat to his frame. Best part is he techniquely is only a high school senior (going by age, maybe even a junior depending on if he would have been an early or late start) so here is plent more room to grow.
  2. Looking for great minor league pictures? check out this link! Albums includes just about every prospect, with plenty of Ruben Ozuna, Chris McFarland and Orlando Arcia's http://krausebrad.photoshelter.com/gallery/3-17-12-Cincinnati-Reds-Milwaukee-Brewers/G0000WsxzHCjOQoY/ http://krausebrad.photoshelter.com/gallery/2012-March-21-Cincinnati-Reds-Milwaukee-Brewers/G0000uvYNRHzLOuU http://krausebrad.photoshelter.com/gallery/2012-March-17-Milwaukee-Brewers-Spring-Training/G0000oovu46km7SU/
  3. So PierceJ is no longer Joel Pierce and Chad Pierce is now both PierceC and PierceJ? ha I know Chad has been, I follow him pretty closely. I grew up with him in Fondy and played sports with him from teeball and flag football up to we graduated in 2006. Really hope he makes Wisconsin! Here is a pretty good acticle on Chad if anyone is interested http://www.foxsportswisconsin.com/09/27/11/Fond-du-Lac-native-working-up-Brewers-ra/landing_brewers.html?blockID=569644
  4. Always liked him, wish the best outside when he hits the field against the Crew of course. Congrats to Erik!
  5. Steffan Wilson has been MIA all spring, wonder if he is injuried, at least hoping. I have always been a fan and really hope they didn't release him.
  6. I usually am commenting on link report every night and have been on the site since 2002 (under like 4 or 5 different names in past decade) so I can pick up some slack.
  7. Really encouraged by the amount of playing time some of the kids have gotten. Arcia and Ozuna has been in lineups everyday, Mike Reed, Chris McFarland, and Jalen Harris have all been plenty AB's. Joel Pierce after an awful last summer has been getting innings. What the encouraging part is that this in my eyes means they have seperated themselves a bit from all the other prospects a bit. Most of those rookie kids stay and work strictly with the rookie coaches playing intersquad games. I have had the feeling since August signing that if their is a chance to see McFarland make the Gennett leap. He is very versitle and can play 2B, SS, and 3B. Being sandwiched between our 2 frontline Top 20 SS's Rivera and Arcia, it would not surprise me at all if he focuses much more on 3B or 2B. Most scouts have said they see him being more of a 3b than sticking at SS. Joel Pierce is about the only one of the "young young guns" in that 18-19 (few 20) group who has been getting innings. I cannot see Arcia making Wisconsin due to Rivera but Crew are showing that they really like him. They have played him A - AAA games at 17. Sure he is just a fill in but they think enough of him to get him out of rookie ball games to start him at every level.
  8. Surprised that I haven't notice anyone mention how much CF Josh Prince has been playing. Wonder if it will be full time or if he will still get plenty of PT at SS. Always thought he was a pretty good fielder. Brewers must be pretty high on Bianchi
  9. 1-15 equals a bad streak of 3-4 games. One hit was a bomb. In a 162 game season I am not worried at all. Really he has yet to play a full game and only seeing 1 or 2 PA a game. 1 for 50 I may be worried but 15 random/scattered AB's not so much
  10. Green is no longer a young prospect and I am not overly concern about his service time. If he starts playing this year I believe he will be under control until he is 30 or 31. In most cases that is past a players prime. I pray by that time we would have another young upcoming 3B prospect. I have always felt Green would be more of a bench role player in the major. I like him but don't think he will be a big time MLB player. Like I mentioned he could be a Bill Hall type of guy who can start at 3B then 2B the next then 1B the day after that and get 4 maybe 5 starts a week. Would be nice if he could add OF as an option but that is asking quit a bit. If he was still younger like a Peralta or Thornburg who are 22 or even 23....no way I let him play on bench but he is already 25 and needs a big league opportunity. If he performs they will find a way to get him on the field.
  11. So we plan to keep in in AAA for the next 3-4 years? Guy can help a big league team now and add needed depth at 1b, 3b, and 2b. He isn't in the Gamel situation where ARam is gone after the season...(unless traded he is here for 3-4 years). I know there are plenty of Gamel haters here who are positive he will fail (opening the door Green). However, I doubt this will be the case, I have a lot of faith in Gamel and the Crew giving him a LONG leash. I really like Green but what is going to AAA to hit .340/.900+ with 30+ HRs going to do when his only way to make a career in the big leagues is Casey McGehee style. Come off the bench, make plays, get big hits, and earn a roll. Bill Hall was an everyday starter without a position. Green is versitile with 3 infield positions. It is to bad they have haven't added OF to arsenal. Overall he is 25, has nothing to prove in AAA, and has no position opening for years to come, has already shown he can be effective off bench, and will get an opportunity to face top pitchers and earn a larger roll with team. From what I have read this ST is he doesnt about his roll, he just wants the opportunity to help team win and play in majors....I think he deserves it and has earned it. Let him battle for more PT and a real strong roll with team
  12. Disagree, Green has outperformed and has had pt at 1b, 2b, and 3b.
  13. Did Brewers give up on the Rising Star game already or have they just not announced it yet. It would be a shame if they cut out the game because it was a lot of fun. Not to mention that the system is better than last year with some real exciting players. I'd love to get a look Jungmann, Bradley, Lopez, and etc. I have tweeted Tom and Adam a bunch and neither has gotten back to me. I'd be really be disappointed if they did cancel it. Not only was it great for my friends and i, it is really special for the players.
  14. At the end of the day you take whoever you feel in your gut is the next star of your franchise. If they think Williams is the next Griffrey and is sitting there for you, take him. What good is it at all to say this kid is going to be a star but lets skip him for this less talented player because he is cheaper. If all is equal, the room is split then, and talent wise it is a toss up then fine let tag effect decison. New Cap rule is terrible, I must note that. More high school kids will turn down pros then ever before because teams just wont be able to pay
  15. 4th? I mean i can understand Cardinals and Reds but I don't think trading McGehee/Fielder for ARam and Gamel will drop us 20 games and finish behind the Pirates, Cubs, or Astros. Offensive MVP: Cory Hart if he gets rolling, he is scary Pitcher MVP: Zack Greinke: Outside of ERA and HRs allowed he dominated every pitching stat (advanced and non-advanced) Rookie of the Year: Gamel except he isn't a rookie. I expect big things from him Most Improved: Carlos Gomez! He is a late bloomer who still has 5 tools waiting to be unleased on the league. Just stay on top of the ball and look at a few pitches. That is the difference. Losing Dale Sveum however by set him back. Comeback Player: Manny Parra: Confidence up and healthy, he is dangerous with flithy stuff....confidence down however, hes toast. Prediction 89-73 second place
  16. He isnt a lazy guy, he just has that really chill surfer type attitude. I think that is where the misconception comes from. I have no doubt in my mind he wil not only be a servicable hitter but a very good hitter in our line up. He is a .300 quality bat who can drive in runs and hit for 20+ HR's. He is a pro hitter, and every full-time chance he has gotten, he has excelled at. No reason for me to not think he could be another Hart type bat. However im in the minority on this one.
  17. Supposedly.....according to Cecil.I doubt he lied about it. He has been very honest in the past about their relationship. I don't get why all of a sudden he would start making things bout him and Prince starting to finally heal their damaged relationship. Its hard for almost anyone to completely cut a parent out of their life, deny their children to meet or play with their grand father, and stay extremely hateful towards them. He is getting older, more mature, and is a family man. Much different than the young to mid 20's kid who made the choice to cut Cecil out of his life. Dad made some huge mistakes but still loves him and Prince prob still deep down loves him. To me, I thought the opposite of sticking it to his dad. He grew up at Tiger Stadium with his dad and is know bring the name back. I will miss Prince a bunch but great sign for him and happy for him. Best of luck and thanks for leaving the NL and not going to Cubs!
  18. Fact is Scooter could hit .360 at 21 in AA and still get zero love here (most people won't even put him in their top 10's and barely in their top 20's (insane in my opinion) or nationally. People just don't respect his game nearly enough nor will they. His name is Scooter, his defense is sloppy, he is not a SS like they would like, and he is has zero size on his frame, are some excuse commonly used but all you have to do is look at his numbers as one of the youngest players at each level. Guy has the hit tool, I am confident he could produce as a poor mans Pedoria (he won't be winning MVP's but offensive numbers/power should be around the same). Kid just walks right into AFL against top pitchers in baseball and tore them up. He will most likely do it again in AA and then again in AAA. He was overshadowed by Trout in MWL but up til beginning of August he was a .330 hitter (then he dropped off and got in Erickson's dog house). Outside of one horrendous month in BC, he did outstanding. Guy just performs. I think Mayo is the only nation guy who show ANY respect that Scooter deserves. Any not many posters give him the respect he deserves. But as we all know, rating guys who have proven nothing such Jungmann, Bradley, Lopez deserve all of the praise. I think he is a legit Top 5 Brewer and Top 80-100 in milb prospect. However, this season is the selling point of this. Its make or break time in AA for him as a legit top prospect
  19. Anyone who knows about steroids or has used knows you will have spikes. In size, weight lifting numbers, or something like homeruns. No one, I literally mean no one would take steroids in order to stay consistant, nor would it work out like that if you wanted it to. Your power numbers would spike but overall it will not make you a better player (ask Alex Sanchez). Hitting is a skill Braun has, only power and speed can be added. If he is a .200 hitter, he will stay a .200 hitter but power numbers would spike up and down. Braun is the definition of consistancy and that is just impossible on steroids. The pont is to get better not be the exact same. I just cant see steroids as a possibility.
  20. Free Matt Gamel
  21. Gomez is where he is today because the Mets, Twins, and Brewers when he first got here epically failed in his development. I think he will be a late blommer and could get to his performance to match his elite tools. It is hard when you are 20 (20-24) and teams call you up, play you, and when you struggle they do not do the reasonable thing of sending you down to work out issues but sit you on the bench to watch the game. How do you develop not getting to play? Twins did the most damage, Mets just pushed him way to fast because of his tools not readiness, and Brewers gave him a short lease and sat him down without going down to work out issues. We know what he have in Plush, he has reached his ceiling, Gomez will be 26 and has yet to scratched the surface. The only way to get him there is to play him. Not in a platoon where he gets 2-3 starts a week. Even if his bat fails and hits .220/.290/.600 or something his defensive will make up for much of his flaws at the plate. People are willing to have SS who can't hit but play elite Defense, I feel the same for CF. People try to compare Plush and Gomez in the field and say they are close, well if you think that you have never watched a game. Morgan is an average or slightly above average defender. He has nice range, pretty good routes, an okay arm, and will make plays he should make, maybe a few more than the next guy. Gomez has incredible range, incredible routes, a very good arm, and is really just a gem out there. He makes Harts and Brauns job very easy. They know if it is in between Gomez will get it. I have to agree with Briggs on everything he wrote. In no way should Carlos ever try to be a slap hitter like Morgan. Morgan does it because he has to. He would not be here if he tried to go up there and drive the ball because it is not his game. Gomez has a ton of power. To try to be a slap hitter is a joke. If Carlos does what he did in ST where he was swinging level and getting on top of the ball, he will be an explosive bat in our lineup. Walks need and pitch selection both need to improve along with that because we need his speed on the bases. I'd take Gomez
  22. Like Most mine would look like: Outfield LF Braun CF Gomez RF Hart 4th Plush 5th Aoki (Schaefer movs up for Braun's suspension) Infield (8) Including Catcher 1B Gamel 2B Weeks SS Gonzalez 3B Ramirez C Lucroy 1B/3B Green 2B/SS Izturis C Kottras (Maldondo if traded in ST) Starting Pitching (5) 1 Gallardo 2 Greinke 3 Marcum 4 Wolf 5 Narveson Bullpen (7) Estrada Veras Parra Loe Braddock Rodriquez Axford Notes I believe that Schaefer is in front of Gindl and will be the one to make roster and replace Braun if suspended. Interested in what happens if they sign Aoki since him and Plush are very simular type of players. Also as mentioned there is zero risk for not signing signing Aoki, we will not lose our money or anything. Nor is it irresponsible. At zero risk why not pay to take a look at on of the elite, next "Ichiro" Japanese hitters. Not like DM throw out 25 million or something outragious. Low risk, high reward move if he turns out to be able to hit as advrtised. Have a feeling Kottras will be traded after spring training if Maldondo has a really good showing. I could also see Fiers stealing Estrada's 6 man/Long reliever spot with a great spring. Braddock will hopefully be back to stable but you never know when it comes to what he has, you can never be sure. Im chering for Farris but him only being able to play 2b, will not help. Like to see him trade and gien an opportunity elsewhere.
  23. Easy, Plush to Left, Gomez CF, Hart RF. Schaefer is 4th OF Sign a vet OF like we do every year. Problem Solved. It's a 2 month possible issue, we don't need to sign a starting OF like Ludwick. We don't need to move someone off their current position for two months. All we have to do is break up our CF platoon. Offensively....maybe not the most sexy. Defensively, I think this mixed with Gonzo at SS will save some runs.
  24. FREE MAT GAMEL! Thats all I have to say. Its amazing, 3 years ago we are dying to get him to the majors, he gets road blocked by the Rise of Casey McGehee and now we need to find every excuse possible to make sure he is not a Brewer. The only thing that has change about Gamel is age and has switched positions. He still the same professional hitter he has always been. Guy can hit.
  25. Innocent until proven guilty. Overall Braun has been the exact same player he has been since high school. Nothing about his game has ever change. Whatever he may have taken or is taking I highly doubt is something serious as a steroid or HGH because a guy with his ability and work ethic would see results and spikes. Also whats is the point of risking everything to take something that doesn't make you any better. If I'm going to cheat I better be jacking 50+ HRs and not be lucky to just get over 30
