  1. Disagree, Loe is massive but only can muster 88-89 mph and if his sinker is not getting down he will be rocked. Veras can actually throw the ball past someone and isn't 100 percent reliant that everything he throws is down
  2. Didn't readthis the last page before my comment so it is a little late but I agree of course that we will not drop to 82 win team because we traded Fielder for Aramis and Yuni for Gonzalez. This isn't the NBA, 50 games is managable with our pitching staff. As for defense, at least we have Gonzalez. Last year our whole left side had zero range and struggled. This year Gozalez still has plenty of range and will save a lot of runs. Takes pressure off of Ramirez
  3. So a 96 win team drops to maybe a 82 win team because they lost Fielder and Yuni? We only return our WHOLE starting staff plus depth with Estrada, Parra, Fiers, Peralta able to step in. K-Rod and Ax turning any game they come into a 7 inning game. Essentially we traded Fielder for ARam. .290 ave 40hrs 110 RBIS .950+ OPS for .290 25+ 95 rbi's .900 OPS (rough averages) that ALONE will drop us from 96 wins to 82? Braun may miss 50 but as long as we can be right around at least 24-26 - 27-23 during that time which is very possible, we still have a good chance to make a run. Cards=down Cubs=Down Astros=the Astros Pirates= the Pirates (but improving) and Reds= who knows after how poorly they played this year. Central will be down this year compared to the last couple. It's wide and with our staff we no longer need 5-6-7 runs a game to stand a chance to win
  4. Furcal cannot hit a ball (outside of Brewers pitching to him) Aramis is almost always good for 140 games .290 20+ Hr's 30+ Doubles 90+ RBI's and an OPS of .900 plus he is a defensive upgrade. He did have that terrible 2010 season but bounced back to his normal self. I agree though that we are right up their for top 3B in National League. We will pay him 11-13 million over three years. thats not too bad. Orginally I was readinghe was looking for 45 million over 3 years so to get him at 34-to 36 is reasonable. Next if we didn't do this and Braun is not over turned, we'd be in trouble. Of course I read the people who are like Gindl is ready and this guy is ready but fact is we do not know that one bit and to put 50 games on it is not a chance worth taking. Morgan LF Gomez CF Weeks 2B Hart RF Gamel 1B Green/McGehee 3B Lucroy C Gonzalez SS Not what you have inmind for a WS contender. Ramirez gives us the legit clean-up hitter to keep lineup a float until Ryan's back. Good sign, needed to be done. Can't complain personally
  5. What viagra mainly does is open you blood vessels causing more oxygen into the blood stream (and believe increase the flow) for increased energy and endurence. If I would pop a pill and hit the gym or run a mid/long distance race in a track meet, I'd prob have an amazing workout or set a PR in a race. It is a legal PED but most won't use it for an event for obvisious reasons. I have heard of pro athletes using it has a weight training aid (If its just you and your trainer, the 4 hour wood isn't as big of a deal.) Not sure if it really boost testostrone. However I believe, most pre-workout supplements increase testrone levels. Like a Jack3d or Super Pump. There are just normal pills at GNC you can grab to boost Testerone. Really there is just way to much unknown for the whole situation. I just wish all the facts were puto ut and the issue would resolved. I really want to know what makes this case like nothing MLB has ever had before. Overall, PED's do not hit .330, players do. PED's don't rise the the moment and make clutch hits, players do. PED's do not have the potential to create all-stars; genetics, natural ability, and hard work do. In a game like baseball which is all most all skill related, most PED's will just aid those players to be fractions better and slightly increase recovey (still a big deal) however a player must already possess those skills in order to translate them into success. As long as Braun wasn't juicing, on HGH, or the worst of all gene doping. I do not care. All others are fairly minor enhancers, no diferrent than what we can get over the counter legally. Melvin really should have had Ramirez inked last night already. Suspended, Brewers need him, with Braun playing, he is still a huge asset. Plus it would defer attention away from the image of the franchise player whose name and credibility is being destroyed. This is purely IMO. I think they should have signed him at the meeting already
  6. Nah, we have Gamel. People tend to forget Gamel was at top 30 prospect in ALL of baseball. All he has done is produce. He is a professional hitter, that is what he does. If he could have thrown a ball to first on target and stayed healthy in Spring Training when he was 23,24, and 25 he would have been a starter than. I like Morales but he tends to get banged up and I'm not sure if he'd produce anymore than Mat.
  7. Got the SS I wanted. His bat is nothing special... at all but guy can play defense and to me that is waaay more important. Huge improvement for the Brew Crew by signing Gonzalez
  8. Hainley Statia...enough said I'd go Ramirez and Gonzalez, If if we went FA route. Green/Gonzalez or Green/ Bethencourt otherwise
  9. I'm betting Yuni gets a one year deal between $1-2 million, John. Just my guess.Briggs is right. Baseball prices are WAY to inflated for Yuni to be only 2 million. A guy who is not very good in his first or second year of Arby makes that. Yuni will cost at least 3 million unless no team even talks to him.
  10. Absolutely zero chance he is traded unless he demands a trade and sits out all season (even then he is under contract and doubt they trade him). Hes going to love Ozzie, he is going to love winning, and he is going to love playing with Reyes and who knows maybe Albert. You don't trade your franchise right when you want to become contenders. He will play 3rd or maybe OF is that is what he wants instead. It is Ozzie and Hainleys team, Reyes is just a side kick. Also if a miracle happened and they were willing to deal him, that offer would not get it done. They'd need at the very least 3 top 30-50 players in milb. I don't even think we have one cracking the 100 (Is Peralta?)
  11. Velazquez was a Ranger, Narron was the Rangers hitting coach (my guess is he had seen him at least a little in ST.) Velazquez is a 5 tool guy with a massive ceiling but is very self destructive, Narron helped turn around one of the most destructive players in baseball into an all-star who has maxed out his extreme ceiling in Hamilton. Ummm, hope lightning strikes twice. Much different circumstances since Hamiliton had know Narron for ever and had different issues but yeah can hope. Hopefully we just got Nelson Cruz back
  12. No, ton of potential but he hasn't been on a baseball field enough in his career to make the majors. He has hindered his growth through mulitiple suspensions. I'm curious as to what his issues are. I can't find what is wrong with him other than he has off-field problems. He is considered to be a very high ceiling kid but needs to clean up whatever demons he has.
  13. We have 6....can't forget our 2nd round pick as well
  14. Bullpen yes, starters no. Next year as of right now, looks to be a very nice FA pitcher market. We have a staff together this year, let it run course and then sign one if thing fall through with Greinke and Marcum Here is a list of potential SP FA's next off-season: *means the have option, bold are some targets without out an option that would interest me. Scott Baker * Joe Blanton Matt Cain Fausto Carmona * Kevin Correia John Danks Jorge De La Rosa * R.A. Dickey * Scott Feldman * Gavin Floyd * Zack Greinke Jeremy Guthrie Cole Hamels Dan Haren * Tim Hudson * Colby Lewis Francisco Liriano Kyle Lohse Derek Lowe Shaun Marcum Daisuke Matsuzaka Brandon McCarthy Brett Myers * Carl Pavano Jake Peavy * Anibal Sanchez Jonathan Sanchez Ervin Santana * Joe Saunders James Shields * Jake Westbrook * Randy Wolf * Carlos Zambrano *
  15. madtowndrunkyard is right on Its not a small market mentality, its a smart mentality. Believe it or not you can be fisically responsible, build a great team, and win games. If there is one person in America who knows how to handle money, and make great investments its Mark A. Its what he does for a living. He has only made millions and millions of dollars from it so my guess he may know what he is doing. You do not make that kind of money if you irresponsible decisions. The Brewers market is also very unsustainable compared to New York, Boston, Chicago and etc. due to our small market. 2010 showed that. As soon as the Brewers stopped winning, fans stopped coming, stopped buying merchandise, and we lose a lot of money. Mark A wants a winning product and to breakeven, like most owners he owns a team out of passion and not for capital. So he will align the budget to where he feels he is not putting the franchise at risk and we will be competitive on the field. Where that puts us with our budget, I cannot say. My business degree is pretty small compared to the guy who pulling in millions a year in the investment game. So I'll lower my ego of wanting to sign Fielder and Reyes and Broxton, and Wison and anyone else we can sign to a big contract to feel like the Yankees and put my faith in the expert to decide what is right and responsible for the Brewers.
  16. If we could get Thornton and Ramirez, I'd be pretty happy. He'd be hitting two birds (8th inning and SS) with one stone. Not sure how much that would cost though. I'd be willing to eat more contract if we get to pay less in terms of prospects. Ramirez is one of the most consistant offensive SS out there. He can hit for some power, drive in runs, doesn't strikeout a ton, has posted a WAR over 4 the past 2 seasons and he rates really well in Range, UZR.
  17. I have no problem getting him but has to be for a reasonable price. White Sox will want some young talent and right now we are a year away from having real trade value in our system. Have the best value Peralta, Thornburg, Gennett. Green, Schaefer, Gindl, Scarpetta, Manzanillo I think would have a little bit as well but outside of that...not much. Do we want to give any of these guys up. A lefty who those 93 with flithy off-speed stuff may not be as sexy as a 96mph fastball but still pretty nice. But like you said, who knows what can be expected with Braddock. Pretty scary that he has had meltdowns twice in three years (in AA missed much of the season trying to control his disorder and this year my guess his sleep issues, showing up on time, performance was directly related to is disorder.) If he is able to gain control, he is a legit 8th inning guy.
  18. Too expensive and really don't want to give up any quality for him. If Braddock can get back to were he needs emotionally/physically (his bipolar disorder and the sleep issues) I think he is just as good if not better than Thorton while he is also 10 years younger, and 5-6 million cheaper.
  19. Was with the Brewers during the glory minor league years and helped get Texas bats such as Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, Kinzler rolling. I have no complaints. Good hire. Seems to be a guy who is connected with his players and respected. I was hoping Guerrero would get his shot but Narron works
  20. He is an average 2nd Baseman at best therefore will never play SS in his pro career. He he had the skill sets to play there, they would have kept him there. Same thing with Gennett. Some people just cannot play SS and they both are examples of that. As for the Brewers, we are terrible defensively, the last thing I'd ever want to do is throw a guy who has zero ability to play even average at SS out there because he can hit. People say Yuni is bad, wait to you watch a guy who can't even be good at 2nd base try to cut it at SS. Yikes, I'd be the first pitcher demanding a trade as all the ERA's skyrocket. You don't move to harder positions. A bad/average fielding SS can move to 2B but a bad/average fielding 2B doesn't move to SS. A bad/average fielding 3B can move to 1B but a bad/average fielding 1B doesn't move to 3B. A bad/average fielding CF can move to LF/RF but a bad/average fielding RF/LF doesn't move to CF. *Statement above is true, at least for any team who wants to win*
  21. Wolf does not have the value some of you believe he does. Really his production is close to that of Narvy however Narvy cost abou 9-10 million less. Wolf has one year left plus an option which in my guess will not be picked up unless they lose both Greinke and Marcum. He is not a guy that teams are dying to deal for. He is a reliable pitcher but Brewers would have to eat just about all the cost and will net a decent utility or a mid-level prospect. Really not worth trying to move him for what we will receive for him. McGehee has little to no value was of right now. No need to try to trade him. Let him compete and try to bounce back. He is under contract for 3 more years at a reasonable price tag so its not do or die to get rid of him. He bounces back, then he has trade value again. If he doesn't well we are just in the same situation as we are right now.
  22. The number one thing people need to start to realize with Johnson, Weeks, Gennett, and etc, some guys just are not meant to be SS no matter how desprate we get. If we need a catcher you just don't throw Braun back there. It is a specific talent just like SS. People complain about Yuni but compared to Johnson, Yuni would look like Omar Vazsquez. There is a reason why over half the SS in MLB are able to remain starters well into their 30's regardless if they can hit a ball or not. Defense is important and just because a guy played there a little in the minors doesn't make him a MLB SS. If I guy can't field second or is slightly above average, he has zero hope. Even a guy like Farris who is maybe the best fielder in our system can't be a full time SS. You need a lot of features; range, arm, instincts, etc. If we want to a SS, resign Yuni, pick up a defensive guy like Gonzo, Furcal, or make a trade. Do don't try to sign or move a guy who can't play there just because it looks good in a batting order. Lets help our pitching by have guys who can field their position.
  23. This is just as bad as the Rickie Weeks to SS idea. Plain and simple, if you are not a great fielding 2B with a powerful arm, there is zero chance of not being a major liability in the field. SS is a specialty just like catcher. You can't just take average fielders and throw them there and expect them to do good
  24. He does have a point though. A Narvy/Green/Thornburg may struugle to get the trade done. A straight up deal for a top of the line prospect/2nd year pitcher for a out of position (2nd Base) whose ceiling is an average/servicable 3B. Drabek still has star potential, Green has McGehee type potential which isn't bad but is not going to net a possible future Ace who I think is only 23 or 24? Green may hit .300 15-20HR's and drive in 80 or so runs during a career type year but most likely will be .280 with 15 HR 60 RBI's type of player with a high .700 maybe OPS(.780+)
  25. Love the hitting, Yikes for the pitching. Says a lot about our scouting and development of our pitchers.
