  1. Any chance Cappy will steal a base against Bailey?
  2. I went to the Great Lakes Brew Fest yesterday, and was treated to several quality beers. There were about 90 vendors overall. I'd say about 50-60 Wisco beers, 20-30 National beers and about a dozen homemade beers. Since there was so many beers to choose from I decided to stay localized and stuck with IPA's, stouts, and apple/fruit ciders. I also tried to stay away from the New Glarus's and the Lienie's since I was pretty familiar with their products. My fav's Furthermore's Fatty Boomblatty. A very smooth pale ale with a big harsh punch: ABV 7.2% Stonefly's Mustache Ride Pale Ale. At first I thought it was just another PA, but it had a great finish. ABV 6% Shiner's Hefeweizin. I've had this before, but not from a barrel. Good session beer with a bit of a hint of fruitiness ABV 5.4% Shiner's Bohemian Black Lager. Very dark, Very Hoppy, Very good. ABV 4.9% Dell's United Vanilla Bourbon Porter. I tried other Bourbon barreled beers and this was my fav my far. Not too strong but still strong enough to make it a tasty beer ABV ? and my fav Homebrewery, Society of Oshkosh Brewers. They are a group of 40-50 brewers that just brew beers/wines for the group as well as go to events like this. They don't sell any of their beers, but are just out to spread the world and to "convert the miller and coor drinkers in the world. They had a good 12 different beers and wines at the fest. They had a couple of Hibiscus Wines and even a Duck Corn Wine that they guessed was at about 30% ABV. Very corny and very dangerous. I don't know when I'd drink it, but not bad. This was my first big beer festival and I had a blast and learned alot. I look forward to finding some of these (non home brew) beers at the liquor store
  3. I normally don't get to watch West Coast games as per my schedule, but it was nice to watch a dandy when I could watch it. Go Brewers!
  4. Obviously, the game of baseball isn't perfect. However, IMO, its one thing to try to prove the "catch" or to frame the pitch have the ump make the call (either correctly and incorrectly) and the game goes on. Its another to sell the HBP well after the ump gave him first base. What was the point of act after first base was awarded? Personally, I have a problem with the fake HBP because in my mind it crosses that ethical line of fair play. Do I expect all other people to agree with me. Of course not, that's just where I draw the line. If its Jeter's job to get on base, then he should have just taken his base immediately after 1st base was awarded. That being said, I also agree the umps have been lacking, especially this year. The ump's gotta make the right call there.
  5. "If our guys had did it, I would have applauded that. It's a great performance on his part," the Tampa Bay manager said. "Several players are very good at that. And again, I'm not denigrating it. If our guy does it, I'm very happy with that if we end up getting the call. ... Fortunately it didn't cost us." Maybe I'm just naive, but I thought baseball was about good sportsmanship. Apparently we need to teach our little leaguers that they need to start hamming up fake HBPs.
  6. or going to UW-Platteville. but don't get me wrong, any negativity i might have toward any young and attractive girl only stems from an inability to actually find one for myself:) Hey, I went to P-Ville a few years ago and even lived in the all male dorm. On the weekends, there was definitely a very healthy amount of gorgeous 20 year olds staying at the dorm
  7. The threshold to wake-up my monitor is different than the threshold to kick out of the screen saver. So its possible to move the mouse and turn the monitor back on without deactivating the screen-saver. This amuses me.
  8. Belated thanks for the bday wishes
  9. My Birthday is today!! (and the Vikings losing)
  10. Holds up an envelope to his head..2 coaches 1 player and a fan *rips envelope open* Who has Davidson tossed so far
  11. Its nice to see a (eventually) former baseballer that has the potential for a great second career
  12. Yea, I believe Bailey has temporary amnesia and always forgets theres a runner on base.
  13. Are there still gentleman's agreements to resign Covey when Covey comes back
  14. As a newly diagnosed Diabetic (Type 1-ish) I can see Covey's perspective. The day I found out I was diabetic, it was a tragic and life changing day for me. How many current baseball players with Diabetes found out just before they signed their first professional contract? I'm not sure what I would do in his shoes, but certainly understand it and empathize.
  15. He had Sunday off? or did you meet him before or after Sunday's game? This was after my round at 7PM Apparently he frequents Brown's lake pretty often. I don't know if he had the day off or not.
  16. Yesterday, while I was golfing at Brown's Lake, I met the man who clocks the pitches for the Brewers. He's a very nice guy who loves to polish off a round of golf in under an hour. I'm truly in awe.
  17. Narv-dog trying to oust Wolf as the pitcher used to PH
  18. It's nice to "have a feeling" after the mess in Houston..Lets continue the cubs losing streak
  19. Just got back from the game and had a few comments. When I looked at the clock at it was coming up @ 2 hours in the 4th, I knew it was gonna be a long game. Coffey was near his record, and even the sausages I think ran double speed to end the game sooner. Yo didn't look good at all, however it seemed every single ball was either up the middle or in the gap. They just hit them were we ain't. Any of those hard hit balls were at a fielder and we get out of the inning relatively unscathed I do have to admit, after the first play of the game I had a feeling it was going to be a 12-10 game. Turns out I was half right.
  20. It's nice to actually get see a charge of electricity on the field, in the crowd, and here on BF
  21. The bases loaded, Mighty Jonathon at bat Comes through with a hit
  22. Keeping with the theme.... I do have to say Rickie's new walk-up music Should be Tubthumping
  23. Man, both the article and the comments are so short-sided. Yes I know Biased fans versus polar opposite biased fans, but I'd like to think that looking through non-Brewer glasses that the HBP was clearly intentional and thusly deserving of the suspension. Riske's HBP's both were barely HBP at that and came at times where a HBP actually was undesirable.
