  1. Kenny Williams ought to just let the Cubs have him rather than pull him back. This is a bad move by Hendry as Podsednik has been a light-hitting, caught stealing, injury-prone backup-level player since 2005.
  2. The brewers are 3-34 against this guy? Hell of a day to go to a game.
  3. Terrific job on the graphics. I don't know what to think about tonight after yesterday's fireworks. It seems to me it's about time for a win streak. Yo is just the guy to get it done. In other words, I like our rookie better than their rookie.
  4. No one emerged from the clubhouse scuffle with a black eye, broken bones, or a one-way ticket to waivers.
  5. On the CBS Gametracker, there is a feature called Glogger. For this game, there must be about 5 Mets fans posting their thoughts on their own fantasy baseball teams. For future reference, if you are a stranger, I don't want to hear about your fantasy baseball team! No one cares about your fantasy baseball team but you! Most of us have a fantasy baseball team but we don't feel compelled to share the minutiae of our fantasy baseball team! Keep it to yourself! I believe I speak for most people.
  6. Return of the In-Game thread! I love it! I guess after last night's heroics from Jenkins, it might be time to end my two day boycott of the Brewers. (I am so fickle.)
  7. Gary Sheffield admitted to booting balls so that he would get traded from the Brewers. This morning on the Mike North radio show in Chicago, the host rhetorically wondered whether Sheffield has ever been asked by any reporter about this. I can't remember anyone ever challenging Sheffield on his admission that he purposely threw balls in the stands to get out of Milwaukee. North said that this would be the first thing he would ask Sheffield if he ever got a chance to interview that jerk. I would love to hear Sheffield try to explain that one. Sheffield is probably the most self-centered pile of garbage to play major league baseball in the past 50 years. He makes Barry Bonds seem like an ok guy by comparison. At least some of Bonds' teammates claim they like him. I've never heard any of Sheffield's teammates say a good word by him.
  8. My plan was going to be to skip this series in a need to preserve my sanity. After seeing the "bless the Brewers" thread and the unbridled optimism of the beginning of this in-game thread, I am now mentally prepared for this one. Brewers 3 - 1 Cardinals (including a sweep of the DH tomorrow.)
  9. 1. Gary Sheffield as a Brewer 2. Gary Sheffield as a Padre 3. Gary Sheffield as a Marlin 4. Gary Sheffield as a Yankee 5. Gary Sheffield as a Tiger Hon. Mention Gary Sheffield as a Brave and Dodger; Scott Podsednik I don't dislike any other players
  10. I have never heard so much complaining and pessimism before. Maybe it's a little too early for some people. It sounds more like a Chicago fanboard than anything. Prince should get a day off every now and then. Remember, we are in the middle of eighteen games in seventeen days. Most of us don't work nearly three straight weeks without a day or two off on the weekends.
  11. This is going up over the television and in my wallet so that it is available for games I attend. Thanks Pedro.
  12. Not a big fan of this trade. It is hard to believe that a team has to give up one major league and two major league projected pitchers for a 2 month rental seventh inning guy. Hopefully a move to the Brewers does for Linebrink what Cordero's move did for him last year.
  13. I miss me some Billy Hall. While we're waiting for his return, let's get some runs against this guy tonight.
  14. Bob Costas has the annoying tendency to overhype and overdramatize every moment. He has done as much as anyone to make the Olympics into a syrupy-sweet, Oprah-fied nostalgia-fest rather than about the sports themselves. He also does that with his baseball announcing as well. If he quit trying to make the outcome of every ball and strike call seem like the fate of the world hangs in the balance, he would be a better sports announcer.
  15. I am not trying to make a point, I just had a little time to count this up: Since June 1, the Cubs are 29 - 15. Since June 1, the Brewers are 24 - 17. Since June 1, the Brewers have only lost 3 1/2 games to a team playing with a .659 winning percentage. The Cubs since June 1 are playing on pace to win 107 games extrapolated over a 162 game season. The Brewers since June 1 are on pace to win 95 games extrapolated over a 162 game season. I don't think that the Cubs can repeat the same 44 game record. I do think that the Brewers are capable of repeating their record from the past 44 games.
  16. Until Hall retakes the field, my avatar will remain black. ...and I will wear all black in temporary mourning. I can't believe the Brewers brought up Gwynn. I would rather have a one-healthy-legged Hall in the lineup than TGJ!
  17. I lived a summer in Southern California and went to both Dodger Stadium and Edison Field. I had a MUCH better time at the Angels game. I would agree with the RayKing.
  18. There's still six outs left...keep hope alive! EDIT: Five outs left...
  19. After all the heartbreaking losses Sheets has suffered in his career (i.e. giving up two runs through eight and getting the ND or L), it would be nice if he got an equal number of cheap wins. Today would be a great day for a Ben Sheets cheap win.
  20. 1957 to the present ? A player has needed 3.1 plate appearances per team game; thus, players were no longer penalized for walking so frequently or benefited for walking so rarely. from Wikipedia
  21. The mlb Blackout Map Columbus is blacked out by the Pirates, Indians and Reds. That stinks.
  22. Miller is probablly exhausted from circling the bases so much last night. By the way, what's up with this lame start time?
  23. Heck, I still hate the wildcard and interleague play ...and the horseless carriage as well! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif A nine game WS would be too much. Why mess with a sport that has been gaining in popularity for at least ten straight years?
