  1. My Top Five: 1. Cameron Garfield- I just like the thought of having 3 good catching prospects. 2. Nic Bucci- He could really make some moves this year if he is consistent and continues to improve. I think with a good first 3/4 he could get up to AA at the end of the year. 3. Wily Peralta- If he cuts down his walks and develops a changeup, watch out. He could be in the rotation by the end of next year if what I stated in the first sentence comes true. 4. Mark Rogers- He was the first draft pick of the first Brewers draft I ever really followed and I just have a feeling he is going to make an impact. 5. Kentrail Davis- Like Rickie Weeks and Ryan Braun before him, I think he could be another early round college that gets to the bigs in a hurry and if hits well this year and is serviceable in the outfield.
  2. Does anyone know what is going on with Brooks Hall? Haven't seen anything about him this spring and he was one of the prospects I was looking forward following him this year.
  3. How about any of the pitchers who were in wisconsin last year? (Frederickson, Scarpetta, Efrain Nieves, Wily Peralta or heck even Maverick Lasker)
  4. Maybe I'm just a stat nerd but I found this interesting. Rivas 128.0 IP 102 Hits 39 ER 41 BB 116 SO 1.08 WHIP Anundsen 128.1 IP 100 Hits 38 ER 39 BB 120 SO 1.12 WHIP The only differences on the season for these to is that Rivas has given up 9 homers to Anundsen's 2 and Evan has hit 13 batters and Amaury has hit only 3.
  5. Just to comment on bucci... I was listening to Steve last week when Bucci was pitching against Orem and he was saying that they were going after first pitch fastballs and that he was throwing too many strikes. Which got me wondering, and this is kind of ironic considering how some of the other prospects are, Nick might have to start throwing less strikes to be successful. I didn't listening last night so I'm not what Nick's problems were but forget when he got hit hard it was because he in the strike zone too much. Another side question for people to discuss..... Do you prefer a prospect with great stuff and mediocre control or for a pitcher with great control and mediocre stuff?
  6. Holy Kintzler. Didn't see him having a performance of that quality. Very impressive.
  7. If Cody Scarpetta could just limit the walks, man oh man.
  8. oh i am by no means saying bucci hasn't played well considering his age; i would've just liked to have seen him continue his dominance of the pioneer league. his strikeout ratio has been good the last 2 outings so maybe he is getting unlucky? i haven't listened to any helena games in a week or so, so i can't say. but for me today was the big excitement of the brewers signing hall, davis and gennett.
  9. second sub-par outing for mr. bucci. right when i was really getting excited about he has to put 2 crappy outings back to back.
  10. i think that one of the bigggest problems with the brewers pitching lack of pitching depth at the high levels is the result of 2 things. 1. drafting players with more upside than drafting guys with more polish in the earlier rounds. examples, i didnt follow the draft in 2008 nearly enough as this year to be able to say who was polished and who wasnt; frederickson, lintz just to name 2. im not saying we have to draft 24 year olds in rounds 1-5; however in 2008 when we had 6 picks in the first 2 rounds, i thought we could have drafted one more estabalished college pitcher, junior or senior, who was extremely polished, had the control taken care of, maybe a guy like mike leake this year. 2. i do not think the brewers are doing enough to challenge their pitchers, granted some of the more high end prospects have control issues, such as scarpetta and this will be a little controversial but i still have high hopes for frederickson. but guys like bucci, peralta, anundsen, rivas, odorizzi and even krestalude. i have been following helena a lot lately, so so i am high on all three guys i listed from helena, the only with a high walk rate is krestalude (but he pitched well in a few appearances in brevard county).
  11. well if we dont get hall; at least we got heckathorn and howell, and of course arnett. one of my favorite guys we took this year was lex rutledge and i was hoping we would have a chance at him, but i guess not because i havent heard anything about that. if we could get both hall and rutledge signed, that would be an even bigger coup than getting howell signed, imo. i do think davis has some real potential also.
  12. does anyone know when heckathorn is supposed to make his debut for helena?
  13. what about hiram burgos? i was excited about him when we drafted him. he was a 6th round draft pick, with a 9.91 era in advanced rookie ball. on a side note, anybody know why khris davis hasnt been playing in helena? he's only played one game, wondering if anybody had any ideas.
